So, those who noticed that the recipe Three was looking at required an *MV* field gen and he looked up the recipe for an *HV* field gen instead, congratulations. An MV Field gen costs an Ender Eye plate, EV circuits, and Tungstensteel. Not the cheapest of components, but well within Three's capabilities to craft. As for Void Metal it requires the Eldritch Epiphany from Thaumcraft to unlock the recipe, which itself is unlocked through a Warp event at 30+ Warp (permanent and sticky, not including temporary). Doable, but if you want void metal without that you can find it as rare loot in the Twilight, either in well chests and *maybe* in ruined houses chests (dig down in the latter case, there's a chance there'll be a hollow space with a chest in it)? Can't swear to the latter, but either of those two can spawn void ingots, albeit rarely. You don't need to transform power up to feed it into a battery buffer, unless you need to for the purposes of compressing amps. A 4A EV battery buffer with 4 batteries will happily eat 8A HV and spit out 2A EV, since battery buffers get 2A input per battery and in this example it gets fed enough power for 2A EV. Using Molten Energetic Alloy instead of Molten Vibrant Alloy for Raw Lapotronic Crystals doubles the recipe time, so don't be a cheapskate. If you don't have a steady supply of Vibrant Alloy at this point you're going to really hate yourself in short order, anyway, because EV/IV chemistry is on the horizon and dear word do I hope you've got a supply of Ender Fluid Conduits ready for that. Incidentally you're going to need Lapotronic Crystals very soon if not for some AE2-related stuff than for IV batteries going forward, so don't be afraid to craft a batch of them early if you can. Recall that Blue Alloy Cables are 2x/A, so you only need 2x cables to support 4A. Note that you don't necessarily require an energy accepter to power your AE2 network, you can send power into your controllers directly. That said energy acceptors are a great way to power a network "remotely", away from the actual controllers if supplying power through the controllers could cause problems or otherwise not work out very well. I'm also not 100% sure that energy cells can be "anywhere", as such - I *believe* they might have to be attached to your main network to ensure that your main network (which is doing all of the energy intensive moving of items) has access to the energy buffer, as opposed to your subnetwork which is only connecting P2Ps together. Might be incorrect about that, but it's something to keep in mind if your main net is having issues while the subnet is always full on energy buffer I guess? First off, you should use Fertile Soil with EnderIO tree farms to speed up log production (though if you don't need the extra logs maybe stick to regular dirt to save on the performance hit of giant trees growing and being chopped down constantly). Second, Three, you've got Equal Trade. No need for this "breaking and replacing blocks" stuff like you can't cast magic 🙃. How many disk drives is enough really depends on how far into the pack you're planning on going, but in any case I don't see a good argument for designing bays for 20 storage drives when a single dense cable/P2P connection is able to support 32. So this is going to take two P2P connections consuming 40/64 channels between them. A great start to a beautiful AE2 mess, methinks 🙃. There's also an AE2 wrench TC focus, but unfortunately it doesn't have much to recommend it. It doesn't have any greater range than a regular wrench does (in fact regular wrenches benefit from Botania's Ring of Far Reach whereas the focus does not, so if anything it has *less* range than a regular wrench) and costs Vis whereas a regular wrench doesn't. So at best it's equal. Honestly having mobs on display seems in character, considering this base is still very much part mob farm 🙃. Otherwise you can do some fun stuff with the Traveller's Gear Armor Stand. Note that in this pack - I don't know if the same is true for others in other versions, but at least in GTNH it is - there actually isn't a separate Wither Skeleton mob that you can capture in a soul vial and turn into a powered spawner. Wither Skeletons in this pack are just regular skeletons, but with a chance to change into wither skeletons when they're spawned in the Nether (I think natural spawns will only place them in Nether Fortresses, but something like a powered spawner can place wither skeletons anywhere in the Nether in this version)? Basically that's a long-winded way of saying that you can go the powered spawner route for nether stars in this pack, but it might up being a little bit different than you might have expected. That said if you have a Rosa Mysteria farm you can easily go the Salis Mundus method for nether stars instead. Setting up a powered spawner for it is, if anything, *less* convenient than going the magic route...with enough investment into the latter, of course. Note if you're crafting chests: Use the 2 logs/2 planks assembling machine recipe if you can. The 8 planks recipe is technically cheaper on wood, but significantly slower for some reason, and if you're short on *wood* at this point than frankly I don't know what to tell you. Yes, that ITNT explodes even you so much as touch it. Use an Equal Trade focus if you accidentally place it down. If all of this P2P stuff (if not AE2 in general) feels really complicated I highly recommend looking up dedicated tutorials for them. They can be difficult to grasp, especially at first, and there are specific things you have to do (or cannot do, in some cases) in order to get them to work properly.

One more tip to add to the pile - you can use a hopper to extract enchanted books from the printing press, which saves a few clicks. The chase slot can't be interacted with by normal pipes/hoppers, but it can by opencomputers, so it is possible to automate pulling out the damaged chase, restoring it and reinserting it for fully automated fortune books.

The power of MBMs on display. And that's to say nothing of the fact that their T2 versions are very rushable if you're willing to do some platline manually (or set up Platinum Group Sludge Dust) and aren't afraid of running an IV EBF off of a battery buffer, late LV/early MV style, for Iridium. It's worth it, though. You're not going to need any less resources going forwards, so getting more, faster? Definitely worth. Distilled Water is one of those things you honestly should have a small setup for as early as LV, although to produce the quantity you'll need to set up AE2 you're definitely going to need either a DT (single block distillers are *significantly* worse in terms of distilled water production) or multiblock steam turbines. I would actually recommend the latter, since that way you're producing distilled water *and* power at the same time, but if you've got a bit of power to spare a DT will get you to set up AE2 just fine. Of course extra bonus points for those who dive deep enough into magic to use Molten Void instead 🙃. Three. Buddy, pal. You *just* showed the LCR recipe that needs *eight* Plutonium 239, not nine! I mean, true, there is the much faster recipe that takes a full stack, so you're going to want more regardless, but please. Don't rush AE2 so quickly you forget how to count 🙃. Also plutonium isn't the only way to get Radon. Ideally you'll start sifting Uranium ore for Radium 226 and go that route for Radon until you get your plutonium radon loop up and running, since getting it from Phobos Stone Dust can take a while if RNG hates you. Of the four AE2 press materials that you need - gold, diamond, pure certus and silicon - you're definitely going to feel the pain of how rare (and in demand elsewhere) diamonds are right about now. You will get access to much richer diamond veins once you've got a T3 rocket, since the diamond veins on Ross128b are full to bursting with diamonds (relatively speaking), but until that point be diligent in mining up the sparse diamond veins you've got access to. Not enough? Get your excess of coal in on the action by using the old IC2 Coal Dust -> Compressed Coal Ball -> Coal Chunk -> Industrial Diamond recipe. Industrial Diamonds can be compressed into diamond blocks and cut into diamond plates just as well as the regular variety, and for recipes like Advanced Heat Vents you actually *require* industrial diamonds specifically. Also, that Implosion Compressor that's waiting on the next tier of rocket to become useful again? Give it four diamond dust, and it'll spit out three industrial diamonds. Or, if you're in SP, just religiously buy all of the processors (and fluix cables) from the questbook because you've got nothing else meaningful to spend your Technician Coins on right now 🙃. "Greg foiling your plans" is why you set up Radium 226 while you wait for your Phobos Stone Dust to roll Plutonium, or for your IC2 reactors to finish burning through Uranium rods to get plutonium that way. You don't need a steady supply of Radon to craft a single EV PLE, just two Radium 226 worth, and you can get that easily enough through some ore processing. If your ore processing doesn't amount of a few machine in a small room tirelessly churning through compressed chest after compressed chest of ores waiting to be turned into AE2 components, that is 🙃. For your AE2 controller design I highly - *highly* - recommend that you at least prepare space for a big(ger) controller. You can get away with using a single controller this early on easily, but GTNH is a pack that does not know the term "sane"...though I trust anyone following this series has picked up on that already 🙃. You don't necessarily *need* a massive controller that can give you 8192 total channels on 256 uniquely color-coded P2P connections like I designed, especially this early on (in fact it's a detriment to overbuild your controller until you've secured a solid power supply), but you definitely want to make sure that you've got space to expand the controller as much as you're ever going to. Because if you have to tear down your AE2 controller and rebuild it mid-ZPM or something, because it's at capacity and you can't expand it without moving it elsewhere, you're going to be an *exceedingly* sad player. This is why you don't try to access your machines with random stuff in your hand, which you accomplish by keeping your inventory clean of random gunk. Until you reach the point where you need all the space you have and than some, in which case keeping a "safe" tool in your hotbar to act as a default empty hand replacement is a good idea. Reminder that Three could have crafted Chandeliers as early as LV. He's currently setting up EV-tier machines in an improvised mob farm just because he can 🙃. Something you can, and should, do is place a dense cable between your controller and your P2P connection so that you can actually tell how many channels a given P2P connection is using and how many are still available. Otherwise you end up stuck throwing more resources at P2P tunnels (and the controllers/cables to support them) to make sure you've got enough channels available for a given new connection, or guessing whether an existing P2P has enough channels free, or even worse, calculating how many are in use *manually*. I shouldn't have to explain why setting yourself up for manual work with your automation mod is a good indicator that you're doing it wrong 🙃. Another thing which helps keep things organized is color-coding your cables, although that'll likely require forward planning to know exactly what you're going to use that color-coding for. Still helpful, though, and remember that if you want to use it later on you either set it up in the first place or you set yourself up for redoing an awful lot of work later. There's no realistic scenario where you can reasonably have AE2 wires and GT wires on the same Y level. Dedicate one Y level to AE2 and another to GT cables, otherwise you're inevitably going to end up doing really ugly jumps around cables and using two Y levels anyway. In GTNH you're going to have to deal with Essentia Terminals and Processing Terminals and a few others as well anyway, so whatever standard you have it probably going to have to make room for GTNH's specific needs anyway.

Threefold, thoughts on doing a Enigmatica 2 Expert Extended playthough? It seems to be a more refined version of E2E. Some challenge ideas: - automate every food - automate creative items for on-demand crafting... without using creative items to get more resources - use OpenComputers for autocrafting instead of AE2 (not sure how fast the OpenComputers crafting is) or for keeping certain items in stock in your AE2 system instead of using standard autocrafters

Keep the runes/glyphs/sigils purple, just like the beautiful eyes of someone I know. :) Also, considering the use of that many drawer controllers, it might be worth a thaught having the bulk item storage on it own separate sub-net aswell. Cause then you won't use a full 12 channels just for those. Instead use one channel and then 12 channels from a sub-net.

I dont really understand the point of having the subnet, why not just p2p directly off the main controller? Also it may be cool to pull the colours from the rocket silo as a sort of "theming" that you can use for each direction. Like if from the rocket silo you go through the door next to the green accents then the whole area would have those green accents. Kinda like scifi space ships with like "engineering" and "weapons" area that are color coded on the ground and such.

@Skellitor301 Well technically probably nothing. But whenever it requests something it will take up a part of your ae2 crafting system(and probably machinery), with a lot of those crafting cards that adds up. So to avoid things like that, you should set up passive crafting processes. Then it never takes up your ae2 system.

I would recommend being a little careful with storage buses into drawer controllers. If there is a lot of IO between them and the AE system, it can cause some significant lag. It is pretty much always better to make more AE drives and partition some of them to hold bulk items. Drawer controllers are great for manual input from a player into bulk storages but when actually implementing automated storage options they are a very poor choice for longevity.

Very surprised to see you trash those crafting cards. They are essentially half of AE2 to me.

"and i am going to assume you know what applied energistics is" Honestly if someones first modpack is a gregtech pack(or if they have been using refined storage all this time) im going to feel sad for them.

I'm not sure but they can create massive TPS lag and can ess entially destroy your save file because of poor call function management. they tick every single tick, also checking if it could craft the items EVERY TIME, which is bad if you have like 400 of em randomly scattered across the base. passive stockpiling for the win.

I do a pattern terminal on bottom and the interface terminal on top. And then a crafting terminal next to the entrance to each room.
