Great video! Information is straight forward. Visuals are helpful. No irksome music. Just excellent! I'm going to do a cutting from my cordyline this weekend.

Very informative and detailed instructions. I have a lot in my yard and want to start a new plant to move to a planter on the deck. This is exactly what I have been waiting for. I am disappointed that they take that long to grow to a mature plant, but it is worth the wait!

Great info. I never knew it helps if you scratch the bottom part of the cutting to make it root faster. One more thing I noticed, plants I buy from shops and nurseries often have more leaves on the stem, while mine get leggy as they age. Is there a way to make the leafy segment remain taller than the bare one underneath?

I recently inherited one of these from my friends, who had severely neglected the plant. At this point, none of the stems have any leaves, so the plant looks like two greenish sticks. It’s currently inside - Is there any chance that this plant will come back and grow new leaves or is it a lost cause?

new leaves will start sprouting again. i learned this while cultivating this plant. its difficult to stop the leaves from turning brown.

Notes for myself - cut woody peice, down towards bottom - remove leaves - deep pot w all purpose potting mix - scrape bark off end of plant, go pretty high, don’t just remove bark from the very end - plant deep in pot - roots should be wet but pot needs to be well drained - water every day for first week, add fertilizer. then water once a week. Don’t let soil get bone dry

Thanks gtg that was really helpful I live in North Yorkshire, Great Britain I have several of these in the garden and never really knew how to propagate these! Definitely will have a go! Is now a good time to do it? Oh ps Tango like the one here is my absolute favourite and I’m hoping to buy one really soon. Can you tell me anything about the flowers (or fruits - whichever way you look at it) should they be removed or left on? One of mine flowered last year and it’s still on there it just looks wonky and so wrong! But I didn’t like to remove. Xx Jill xx

Cordyline's are pretty tough. The flowers do take energy way from the plant, but I like seeing bees around them and it adds a bit of variety to the plant. No harm keeping them on, but maybe trim them back when the berries fall off.
@MrDarkzohar4 жыл бұрын
should the scaring of the stem expose the dark green tissue only? or should I see the light (deeper) green tissue? thanks :)
@AnnieAnnieBuckwheatCakes2 жыл бұрын
I find my Ti leaf cuttings propagate much better when I let them develop roots in water first. The larger cuttings will develop branches along the entire "cane" of the plant if you cut off the leaf crown.

@alinedeleandro123 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree that allowing roots to develop in water gives them greater strength. Mine are huge and very beautiful in the shade & in the sun. My very tall Cordylines have several smaller Cordylines growing up the sides of the main stem/cane with the luscious crown in full glory. I've never cut off the crown.

My mom gave me her cordalyne (poor thing needs help!) And almost all the leaves are brown and crispy. The only ones not so bad are the center ones, like the newer leaves. Should I prune off the crispy ones? If I do, it'll look pretty much like a stick in a pot. Would new growth happen if I do thay?
