I love my Insta360 gear and one of the cool things is that Insta360 is making a lot of accessories. One of the newest accessories that Insta360 has created is their new Insta360 One X2 Quick Reader. So the real question is what is the Insta360 One X2 Quick Reader for? How do you use the Insta360 One X2 Quick Reader? And is this something that every one of us 360 shooters needs? Do you have to use the quick reader to edit directly through the 360 app? Or can I just throw a card reader in the lightning port of the iPhone to communicate to the 360 app? Asking, because I have a card reader for my iPhone, and I definitely don’t see files/import/external card etc… in the 360 app. Sorry if this doesn’t make sense. But yeah, any info helps. @@Denox78 so I ended up grabbing the quick reader. Makes things soooo much easier. Flawless connection and launches insta360 app when plugged in.

I think the issue is that the iphone will bring in the video files in the Files app, and there won’t be a way to edit or view the files (if 360) using the insta360 app. The Quick Reader gets recognized by the phone and opens the Insta360 app automatically so you can edit the files on the card itself, or you can import them to the phone and edit them there. This can save a huge amount of space on the phone if you edit the files on the card. Now, is there a way to get the Quick Reader recognized on a new iPad? Maybe a lightning to USB-C adapter?

Great video, good job ! Can you transfer directly to a latest gen phone videos from any SD card using the insta360 X4 USB quick reader ? Even if the videos come from the SD card of osmo pocket 3 for example ? (the app would not be needed there)

Cool video, well done. I bought it but my google pixel phone does not support exFAT unfortunately. Can i use it instead for faster data transfer to my laptop if i plug it in directly to my laptop ?

i just plug the camera to a usb hub + phone and set it as quickreader mode. i think it does the same

I'm doing that. use a good USB-type C cable (highspeed). the speed improves but I think this quick reader is much more faster.

Are you able to use this as an intermediate media from your X3/X2 into your tablet? E.g. you have recorded your video into your internal SD card; and then you connect the reader to copy the files across to the quick reader - so that you can plug it the quick reader to the phone afterwards (and delete the movies from the internal SD card attached to the X2/X3)? The benefit of the above is, you don't keep remove/attach the SD card from the X2/X3 itself... Thanks

Question, are we able to just plug an external usb c card reader and transfer files off of the camera to the sd card. My issue is I use an external mic with my x4 so I need that slot and my wifi never works when trying to connect to the app

so heres a question I don't think was talked about . so I use iPhone to edit so when I transfer the footage from the x4 to my iPhone I notice a big quality drop in the footage . so will using this quick reader save the quality I wish to have

Thx, I was thinking about buying one. You saved me $$$$. I use large sd cards. 128 and above. Also, often I use that port for the audio adapter. So if I'm getting low on storage, I just change the card out on my X3 when I change the battery. So I don't need this gadget.

It looks like a pretty handy little device if for no reason other than it leaves the Insta 360 internal storage open. If you are using the Quick Reader and it fills up the SD card, does it automatically switch back to internal storage? Does it give you an alert when the SD card is filling up?

insta360 saves on the internal memory of the phone. not on the phones sd card. we have been requesting insta360 to add the feature to save/export to phone sd card since 2022. its now 2024 and yet this feature is not yet included.

i have an iphone and ipad pro. I love editing on the ipad pro but it had a USB-C port. Perhaps a converter would work. Can it transfer to and from the port that plugs into the Insta360 One X2 or only the lightening plug?

Hi Greg, thanks for the review 👍 But have you thought about using an USB-C to Lightning cable and load directly to your iPhone? It is a pity that you have not bought your Insta360-OneX2 in Apple Store, because only this special version allows it. Bad that I have not bought it in Apple store as well. 😞 And very bad the this Quick Reader is not water tight.

bro, I'm using USB-C ( hi-speed cable bought from carrefour) it works and much faster than wi-fi/Bluetooth . But I think this quick reader is more faster based on what Greg have shown in the video. I will try to get one of this quick reader and try it out. it took me ages to transfer and edit my videos. have a nice day .

this is great because smartphones have limited internal memory. Programmers have not yet figured out how to export to phone sd card or they want users to buy this device which adds more weight to the insta360.

This is why I don't want to switch the a new phone. I have 128GB internal, but the SD slot has a 512GB card in it... somehow I still filled it up 😅

One point I would like to let people know is that if you have a phone case, then you can't plug this reader into your phone without removing the case, not a big problem, but it is a pain in the proverbial. Quite a lot of people have phone cases, so it's not as if it is only me that is going to have this problem.

8:55 Ahh, this is where you are wrong! I find it to be IMPOSSIBLE to edit a 10 or 20 minute video using the app and then be able to export a massive file. With this device, as you suggest, I can edit directly to the card. So... I'm gonna go buy a card reader now. I hope this works. Otherwise, the phone app is completely useless, since I can't export any videos.

@@jasonq7504 I wanted to get this camera as a dashcam, but there is no Linux program. Large files impossible on the phone as you said. I thought this reader would allow me to export easily and reframe then on DaVinci. Sounds like I would have to remove the battery and card everytime to pass the files to the pc. Would I still need their app to export the 360 video in that case?

@@Netinterspace the app only allowed exports to the device (phone), and d is not give the option to change directories to the card. You could film 150 degrees one side rather than 360 and it saves as an MP4, but is still a massive file. This camera is not a good option for dashcams. If go for an actual dashcam model that's designed for long term filming.

For me the biggest advantage would be speed. Moving the footage to your phone wirelessly is slow. This speeds the process up a lot.

Maybe someone explained this b/c i learned this while watching. 1) my iphone could not read my SD card from the camera until I used it once in the reader attached to the X3 (go figure) and 2) I am using this b/c I want to use the Starlapse theme and it is only aviable on the phone when the phone is on WIFI or cell data. I cannot get to the theme unless I read the video off the card b/c I have data in Manila. If the phone is attached via WIFI no Starlapsed mode. Oh, no Starlapsed mode on the Windows app for Insta360
