Hi, these are very informative video's and glad you put them out for us. Are you a builder yourself? Edit: I went to your website and found my own answer. I'll be ordering a few books with my next paycheck! I'm glad that guy's like you are still sharing your knowledge with the world and cannot thank you enough for it. I'm trying to absorb as much information as I can as I am in the process of starting a small construction business. Thanks for you video series. I have a question...How would you go about making a valley line up where the existing roof rafters are 2x4 and new are 2x6? My thought would be to have the seat cut make more contact with the top plate, or does it not matter? My build is very similar to your crawl space bathroom addition videos. Thanks again!

I don't think I have a video on that, but most of the time you will need to cut a larger seat cut to lower the valley. I've done it plenty of times with out any problems from inspectors or engineers, but can't say that your local building authorities will allow it if you're getting building permits you can always ask them.
