RVing Life Now - Not Sailing Brick House!

RVing Life Now - Not Sailing Brick House!

Күн бұрын

Michael Hayward WAS leaving Rebecca's sailboat, after sailing Brick House for a year, to go back to South Africa. Sailing and Sailboats, Fishing and Cooking are in Michaels blood way too much to quit the sailing life. Relationships on a boat aren't easy, especially as we get older and more set in our ways...but one thing remains the same...the sailing! Michael cooks lobster bisque and shows how he catches a fish aboard sailboat Brick House while cruising around St Vincent and the Grenadines.

You only get one turn on the big blue ball of life and you can't get back in line when the rides over. Find happiness as quickly as you can, wherever you can! My dad was 92 when he passed. He had been married three times in his life (outlived them all), fathered 10 children, and had a 53 year old girlfriend at the end. He stayed with my mom the longest and held her hand as she went to the great beyond. He owed me nothing. I wished him all the happiness he could find in whatever time he had left. And that's exactly what he did!

Ah..what a wonderful story. I agree…no lollygagging looking for happiness and for someone to share happiness and the sailing life with. It’s absolutely not a dress rehearsal, and you are right… can’t get back in line when the ride is over..that’s for sure!

Good to see you both together. No body is perfect but if you share some important things like a love of sailing, an enjoyment of good food, a desire to be civil to one another, a caring for the other's welfare, then a lot of the discordant things can work out over time. It's hard if you've had a relationship that was totally simpatico from the start to not compare but I have found in my life that if I step back and loosen the reigns a bit, that magic can happen.

find a 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 dowel long enough to go under the engine and between the mount, drill a hole for a string so you don't loose it...I have one on my 9ft whaler for 20 years.. waves can bounce the engine and with the wood, it has never dropped down

Oh, and are we going to get an update on your massive LiFePO Battery? I was kind of hoping you would confirm for all of us that it is bigger than it needs to be so we can buy smaller ones... You use it for your starter battery too though, don't you?
@SailingBrickHouse-RVLife
@SailingBrickHouse-RVLife 2 жыл бұрын
The 400ah LiFePO4 better I put in over 2 years ago now is pretty much perfect…wish I had another solar panel though! I’d say smaller definitely not…bigger would be a little better. But 400ah is pretty decent for my needs. But it depends on what you are trying to keep powered. And how much charging capacity you have. I go through about 150-175 ah per day… my solar puts in easily 100, and my wind 100 if wind is 15 knots. So sometimes I can go for weeks without turning in the generator or engine, and other times, when it’s not windy or not sunny,mi may have to charge every other day.
@SailingBrickHouse-RVLife
@SailingBrickHouse-RVLife 2 жыл бұрын
And while I have a separate engine battery, it’s rarely what I use for starting the engine..it’s the house/LiFePO4 batteries that start the engine too.

barracuda is a very good white soft fish. Like Cod, but way more flavorful. Of course cooking the fish adds to it too, and Michael’s great in the galley, that’s for sure.
