I really don't give a fuck if they sound like zeppelin. Because they create their own original songs!! And I truly believe they are the start of something great. I sure as hell got allot more motivated to play guitar even more. Before I discovered GVF I always had this thought in the back of my mind, like there's no point in getting better at guitar because nobody gives a fuck anyway.. but this gives me hope.
@Hunterend076 жыл бұрын
If they don't change their sound they will not be something great that's for sure. I wish they could bring back rock to the popular scene but it is not by doing basically the same thing someone else did 50 years ago that this will happen. GVF are very talented and should use this to sound like GVF. Also on a side note I think that Zeppelin had more depth in their song like how Jimmy Page involved the occult in his song writting and his live performances. Also if you play guitar just to show off in front of people well it's useless. Play guitar because you like it, not because it is something trendy

Slash Le Pew well, we have others like The Rival Sons (been going for a while now), Sweden has a whole crap ton of Rock N Roll going on and has for a while too. I could make a list here, but my point is these guys are VERY talented and I think as long as they push more into what they have brewing on a track like black smoke rising which pushes off the Zep vibe a bit more, they will carve out their special place. Yeah.... it's the blues connection helping drive this thing. In the tradition of Zeppelin here - they're recapturing the classic hard rock and metal sound - with its blues roots - and its grabbing people. Plus a lot of that mystical prose and poetry from the classic bands. And yeah, the hair and the duds and the minimalist stage presence are cool. I saw many of the classic 60s and 70s groups in live concert - and these guys bring back the joy for me. No frills and no BS..... just very very good musicianship and real chemistry between them. @GoldberryVideos6 жыл бұрын
So if people don't agree with your taste in music they are suddenly 'wrong' and 'on a high horse'? Led Zeppelin rose to fame because they did not sound like anything that came before! Play some of the old blues records that Page and Plant loved to listen too and see if you can find any of them that sound as similar to Zep as GvF does to Zep. They sound a lot like Led Zeppelin and you know it. I don't say that there is anything wrong with that, i'm merely stating that that is the reason for a lot of people (including me) to not find them as special as people are saying they are. And thats just an opinion, so please explain to everyone why we are all on 'high horses' for disliking GvF because they (in our eyes) don't bring anything new to the table.
@ChaseMeTV6 жыл бұрын
Led Zeppelin did sound like bands that came before. They were heavily influenced and were constantly called for "ripping off" others in the beginning. Such as Janis Joplin. Plant was very obviously heavily influenced by her stage mannerisms. Point is influences aren't a bad thing, and shit, Zeppelin is a damn good thing to sound like. They are still young and developing, yet to even release an album. They are extremely talented and are making great music and are still young. If you find them far less special because they sound like Zeppelin, that's a bit confusing to me. All bands sound similar to another band somewhere. In a lot of the music GVF sounds like Rush and many others. People over-analyze shit too much, if it's good music, it's good fucking music. Also, to say they aren't bringing anything new to the table.....who else is making this kind of music in today's world? No one. They are making new god damn music. People are on their high horses for hating on GVF only for sounding like Zep, because Zep DID THE SAME THING. Very simple. Just appreciate good music when it finally comes around.

His voice sounds a lot like plant. But if you pay attention to the guitar, drum or bass to led Zeppelin it's a completely different vibe than led in most of their songs. I get why they find the constant comparison annoying. They really do have their own sound.

Their words their thoughts their actions. Unbelievably mature for their ages. Their parents must’ve been very attentive! As a parent myself of a young person In their mid 20s,I can only say the parents of these fine young men must be so proud. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. We need more human beings like this! And I haven’t even touched on their musical skills. The words in their songs the words that they say what they put out into the universe is so amazing!! thank you.

This band is a breath of fresh air. The fact that they do sound like Zeppelin is a blessing, being as Zep wont make any new music.. As far as "copying" goes, thats pretty hypocritical since like a quarter of Leds material are covers to begin with. Appreciate the music & quite being critiques, this isnt fucking Rolling Stone.

you know how you like a certain talented well known actor and then a stand up comedian impersonates that actor and it makes you love that comedian for it. It's because the comedian isn't trying to be that actor...it's just a comedic bit. thats cool. but these guys are just imitating zep and trying to take credit for being just as naturally talented. also, any music similarities with zep's past were obviously coincidence since they wrote a bazillion other gnarly original tunes. this bad doesn't deserve notoriety on talent. all Im saying is they change their name to the "sons of z" and it's all good w/me.

So happy rock is coming back!! I was a teenager in the 70s and miss the music from that decade. GVF writes amazing songs. Josh's voice is amazing and totally his own. Comparisons to Zep, yeah I get it but GVF really have their own sound. I went to a Foo Fighter concert and the opening band is great too. The Struts, check out the song Kiss This. GVF thank you for being such an amazing band, this hippie is very happy.😊😊

Need more throwback bands like this! As far as them using Zepplin as a model or a template of course they did, doubt it was a plan from the start though. I think more it seems more likely that they tend to fall toward the rock n roll and folk n blues grooves from a lot of bands and it just so happens to materialize in an earls court kinda way!

@thebigshuck796 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about?? The weekend gets referenced as Mike Jackson all the time!
@Ktalks1006 жыл бұрын
Yes but the Weeknd is not being made to suffer for the fact he sounds like Michael Jackson, but these guys are getting 'called out' for sounding like LZ and the term 'called out' carries a negative connotation and is associated with negative criticism. That is the very first thing you see with this KZbin video are those words 'called out' in large letters, which then serves to influence the viewer, at the very outset in a negative way towards GVF. Just remember a lot of people will only look at that headline and nothing else.You have to be very careful how things are phrased because the world is watching and making decisions and it has impact on this highly talented young band. The thought that went into that headline was machiavellian as in the actual interview the guy says they should 'embrace it'. when referring to the fact they sound like LZ.

I am 56 and I woke up for work this morning with the highway song buzzing in my head from the night before, funny how music can do that, I think the most notable trait of these young guys and their music is their ability to rekindle a long dwindled adrenal rush music used to give me. Consider I lived through the British invasion and listened to the birth and development of the biggest bands ever to blaze trails into all our lives. What is cool is that Led Zeppelin rose to fame at a time when the world was ready for them and they were not hindered with familiarity and saturation of the genera they would eventually posses , in other words they were not hindered by some of the hurdles GVF has had to overcome , all this music has been done before and done to death for decades , the fact that these guys are catching on so quickly despite that, is testament to just how talented they are , the cohesiveness of their sound the lyrics melodies tempo timing beat inflections and blazing stunningly unique vocals by Josh are what make GVF able to bulldoze through a jaded audience deadened by decades of musical mediocrity and ignite the excitement in people garnishing reactions such as the ones on this blog, to simply say as some have that GVF is reminiscent of Led Zeppelin and that is their appeal is crushingly marginalizing , my God listen to the acoustic version of Black Smoke Rising, Edge of Darkness OMG these are genuinely masterful songwriters singers and musicians. These guys are on fire and I can’t wait to hear what comes next. I still remember how it felt when I got my first Zeppelin, Stones , Floyd LP and so many other monster talents, the only reason I can remember , and I am being completely sincere in saying this , is that after listening to this entire track , for the first time in decades I felt it again I want to have all my friends over and crank this cool new album buy this new band Greta Van Fleet in its unstoppable infancy and we will all play air guitar and get buzzed laugh and not give a fuck about anything because the music is doing the talking and pulled us all out of our heads to let us live in the moment, that's some serious spiritual currency . Peace Everybody,,,,,, Darren.

Interview rule number one: study the talent and know their frickin names!!! Nothing disrespects a person more than someone who interviews them and doesn't even know their name!!!! For Future: Sam (♥️ my fav) plays the Bass/Keys, Josh sings Vocals, Jake plays the Electric/Acoustic Guitar and Danny plays the Drums/Guitar. Learn it, study it, remember it. Okay rant over. It makes me mad as a videographer that has studied news and creating interviews. They deserve all the respect they can get and more.

As with all bands that have a massive debut record, the test will come to these guys with their upcoming second record. They have a great energy and were steeped in great music (Blues/Rock/Soul), which provides them with a great foundation that should lead them to sustenance and longevity. Their music is of course in the classic blues-rock genre I fell in love with growing up, so at 57 I find it very refreshing to hear this type of great musicianship and songwriting coming back. The fact that they are brothers (3 of the 4) I think bodes well for them, as they seem to get along very well. Very cool situation and I wish them a long career.

I have to agree. While they are certainly talented, the singer is heavily borrowing from Robert Plant. Being influenced is fine, they are young, but I would like them better if they evolve more to something of their own. People are saying this is fresh and exciting. To me it's not. The sound I'm sure was fresh and exciting when Led Zeppelin was first on the scene but it's not now. Instead of taking the Zeppelin influence and infusing it into something for today, they are doing an imitation of that. Even their clothes at performances are right out of the 1970's. Almost every one of their songs includes "Mama," as a lyric. Who talks like that in 2018? That is 70's lingo. This is a rather shapeless decade of the 2000's but the 1970's were a longtime ago and have little in common with life now. I was a child in the 70's so I remember that time.
