Finally a group from my sons generation I can relate to. Young people today are so lucky to have these guys and they will stand the test of time. BTW: They are not JUST like Led Zeppelin. They are also "like" Cream, Rush, Journey, Kansas, Queen, Yes, and so many other great Rock & Roll bands!! That is the point. They are a GREAT R&R band, period. I dig everything I have heard from them so far.

@@kenmoops7547 Alter Bridge is worthy. (I don't know Dirty Honey -- yet.) And I agree that GVF doesn't sound like Yes or Queen. 80s hair metal some, 60s/70s album rock mostly (and that's a recipe I am really, really enjoying). I'm sure they'll bring other elements to the surface over time, too. They clearly have a lot of music in them!! I'd add Black Crowes to the mix of what I hear sometimes in GVF (and that's also a good thing). Maybe a bit of Tesla (ALSO a good thing).

When I first heard the name Greta Van Fleet, I wondered what she sounded like, and what she looked like. Came here to check her out, and saw it was four dudes. Listened to them, and they knocked me on my ass!! This is what I've been waiting for, for awhile, and I like it. Fresh, crisp, they rock!!

I am 56 and I woke up for work this morning with the highway song buzzing in my head from the night before, funny how music can do that, I think the most notable trait of these young guys and their music is their ability to rekindle a long dwindled adrenal rush music used to give me. Consider I lived through the British invasion and listened to the birth and development of the biggest bands ever to blaze trails into all our lives. What is cool is that Led Zeppelin rose to fame at a time when the world was ready for them and they were not hindered with familiarity and saturation of the genera they would eventually posses , in other words they were not hindered by some of the hurdles GVF has had to overcome , all this music has been done before and done to death for decades , the fact that these guys are catching on so quickly despite that, is testament to just how talented they are , the cohesiveness of their sound the lyrics melodies tempo timing beat inflections and blazing stunningly unique vocals by Josh are what make GVF able to bulldoze through a jaded audience deadened by decades of musical mediocrity and ignite the excitement in people garnishing reactions such as the ones on this blog, to simply say as some have that GVF is reminiscent of Led Zeppelin and that is their appeal is crushingly marginalizing , listen to the acoustic version of Black Smoke Rising, Edge of Darkness these are genuinely masterful songwriters singers and musicians. These guys are on fire and I can’t wait to hear what comes next. I still remember how it felt when I got my first Zeppelin, Stones , Floyd LP and so many other monster talents, the only reason I can remember , and I am being completely sincere in saying this , is that after listening to this entire track , for the first time in decades I felt it again I want to have all my friends over and crank this cool new album buy this new band Greta Van Fleet in its unstoppable infancy and we will all play air guitar and get buzzed laugh and not give a fuck about anything because the music is doing the talking and pulled us all out of our heads to let us live in the moment, that's some serious spiritual currency . I am also 56, husband (James, I am on his account) got me their Anthem CD for Christmas, I haven't stopped listening to them and I feel youthful energy again. And yeah, I felt like a little old lady age 52 - 55. This music is the best drug ever! And yes I have been a lifelong rock fan, heavily into rock from the 60s until 90s grunge and a few good bands after (I like Korn), then the music scene definitely had a lapse. Until now.

OMG!!! Your comment actually gave me chills because you eloquently said exactly how I feel about GVF.... I'm 53, a true rock chick, and it pains me that so many people are hating on this band as a Zeppelin 'knock off'.... far from true! I have HATED almost all the music that has come out in the last 25 years or so... ('some' good stuff out there, but not much)... but raw, kick ass rock and roll like this? It was a dying art.... until these young men came forth! I feel like a teenage girl again when I listen to them. Their songs are intricate and their musical sensibilities are that of guys much older and with much more experience than they should have at such young ages. Each member of this group is top notch! I love how you said you get their songs in your head..... every day I have one of their songs in my head, it's crazy... Edge of Darkness, Flower Power and Safari Song are usually in my head during the day.... Rock on, my friend.... there is hope that the youngins will know 'great music' as we once did.

Im 53 and have seen rush on the 2112 tour, vanhalen in 1978, black sabbath, judas priest, and many others in the late 70s and early 80s, and in dec of 2018 i was forunate enough to see gretavanfleet at the aragon ballroom in chicago. We were no !ore than twenty feet away, and it was the single greatest concert i have ever been to. Everyone in the crowd knew we were witnessing something very special. They are a once in a lifetime band. Just outstanding. No matter what they charge, they are well worth it. I feel blessed to have been a part of a new rock movement. They sounded perfect and no song was played like the studio versions. That is the mark of true talent and incomparable musicianship. I will see them whenever and where ever i can.

This track is like another breath of fresh air! I can't wait to receive my new CD album. I'm 66 years old and still enjoying rock music like this. I was actually a fan of Led Zeppelin in January 1969 after hearing "How Many More Times?" on the radio which was the month after I purchased The Beatles "White Album" in December 1968. GVF invokes those old times for me as well as pointing to a bright new future. Thank you Greta Van Fleet for bringing joy with your musical talents.

@@stevekeener9749 I'm sorry but there is no original bone in this bands body, and the main vocalist is actually not near as good as the records make him sound. Your argument of selling out arenas....well plenty of other talentless acts do the same. Just look at any rapper or pop star. Just because a band can become popular does not make them good. There is no soul in Gretta it's a product designed to sell and that it is indeed doing very well. I'm a musician myself, and I have strong tastes...I liked some of their first album, but they have dwindled away from stepping into their own in trading for stepping into what sells. An example....kid rock and his sweet home rip off .. plenty of people love that song, but is it a good song? No...it's a blatant rip off...but it sells because nowadays people don't know what real music is.

Why can't more modern bands be 80's rockers like these guys? All I want is more of this. Born in '97 and I feel like there's nothing left for me to listen to. I feel like I've heard all the good songs because there aren't NEW 70's-80's rock songs until Greta Van Fleet comes around. I've had to go down rabbit holes on KZbin to find super obscure hair-metal to hear anything new (to me). I wish I could personally thank these guys for giving me what I've always wanted...

I can't get enough of this band!!! I don't understand all the negativity. Scrolling through comments I've noticed that oldies like myself love them because they restore our faith in music. Young ones love them because they haven't heard unproduced raw rockandroll before. The ones inbetween seem to be the haters...The ones who gave us DJ's and a generation of songs that all sound the same. Just found it interesting.

shane aldridge I agree with you, I’ve been working it out myself, and I think it’s loosely the 30 to 40 year olds. It reminds me of when someone who has been bought up on processed food, doesn’t like real, fresh food.
@TheDude4077

"a generation of songs that all sound the same" coming from the guy sitting over here gushing over the band that sounds identical to Zeppelin. Also, "raw" are you kidding me? This is an extremely polished production. I'm not saying squeaky clean is bad, but the notion of this being raw is laughable.
@shanealdridge1803
@shanealdridge1803 5 жыл бұрын
"Extremely polished production" coming from the child that obviously has no clue about music production... was going to rant, but how can you argue with the generation that gave us dj's and think they have a clue.

Peace Everybody,,,,,, Darren.
