Byredo | Unedited & Unpopular Thoughts | new release Open Sky included!

I looove the Open Sky fragrance! It's seriously my new favourite. It's not an ashtray smell to me, it has a fresh green top note and a warm incense base note. This fragrance would be perfect for an open outdoor concert day/night event. I'm a fresh fragrant person, so this is right up my alley. I can't wait for the sales as I'll be buying Open Sky very soon.

It’s such a letdown when you love the opening but then the drydown sneaks up on you and you hate it. I had that experience with the Terenzi passionfruit one. Can’t remember if it’s Kirke or Andromeda. The opening was fruity and lovely but then it turned into a creamy vanilla bomb on my skin. I’m not a vanilla fan so I was disappointed.

I adore Bal D’Afrique! I have Mojave Ghost on my list. Pulp is definitely not my cup of tea. I don’t enjoy the smell of overripe fruits. Aka compost 😂😂😂

Believe it or not, I've never tried anything from Byredo 😍 For some reason this house never pulled me in. But I will have to go and sniff some of these when stores open up around here, definitely don't feel like I can blind buy any of these. On a side note, I am totally jealous of the view from your window 😃

Byredo - inflorescence, bibliotheque and unnamed are the ones I like. The rest it’s just an ok safe fragrance for me. I like your honest review though. Keep it up👍🏻

I just popped into a Byredo a few weeks ago and was fairly disappointed except for one : Reine de Nuit extrait de parfum... Blackcurrant, saffron, incense, rose, ambrette, patchouli... But even this I wouldn't buy, I merely enjoyed it...

I got an email from my Byredo in SF asking of they could send me a sample. They're also giving away a water bottle. I bought Pulp a month and a half ago and the lasting power is so horrible I'm definitely testing this new one out for a bit.

@@GretaBeth OK, so I've been testing it out for a few days. It's very smokey. I don't dislike it. The opening is soo good. 3 minutes later, that Palo Santo scent dominates everything. I think they did Palo Santo very well. They just kept the wood and took that rubbery scent out of it, and that rubbery smell is what I've disliked about it. It gets kind of sweeter in the last hour, but it's so faint at that time it really does not matter. It's a nice scent, but I think I am going to go for Bal D'Afrique instead :)

What are your thoughts on Etat libre d’Orange ‘s jasmine et cigarettes? I happen to really like that one. Unfortunately I did not love any of the byredo scents I sampled. Some were fine, but for me, none were amazing. I do not like bibliotheca either. Mohave ghost was fine as is gypsy water.

Exactly. “Fine.” I don’t find them to be full bottle worthy. In general, I’m not attracted to Jo Malone or Etat libre d’Orange houses, so I didn’t try that one. I’m not aversed to tobacco notes, but cigarette smell does not attract me 😕

@@GretaBeth I have a few travel sizes from Jo Malone, I like orange bitters, and myrrh and to ka, but most others are too floral for me. ELDO has not wowed me except for the jasmine et cigarettes. It is one my list of possible travel size or maybe even 50 ml. But I have a growing long list, so maybe not!

I'm not too crazy with BYREDO...i find most of them too squeaky clean. The ones i do like would be Bal d'Afrique & Mojave Ghost..perhaps Gypsy Water too... I love their bottles though! 🙂

But I don't get why everyone's sniffing the popular ones from Byredo. The best are the unpopular. Eleventh Hour, Bibliothèque, Slow Dance,Black Saffron and the extrait line 👌

I've always been skeptical about Byredo house. Dont know why. The brand just rubs me the wrong way. Firstly, I was always offended by the "Gypsy Water" title 😐 Nor do I think it smells special in any way. La Tulipe was pretty and Blanche kinda intrigued me but are the scents worth the $200??? No . Thank you for keeping it real in your review! XO
