My next guitar !! BUT, I will have to change out the pickups to achieve a beautiful Gibson jazz guitar tone on the neck and authentic Duane Eddy twang on the bridge. I never use both pickups at the same time.

Gretsch is the brand that give the highst quality for the piece and i can say that, for work i review guitars! I've reviewed more than 300 guitars but the gretsch in their range price are fantastic!

They are alnico V magnets, which I have read are close to ceramic in strength. Ohm's on the BT 2S bridge and neck are close to being the same pickup in both positions, bridge and neck. The original Broadtrons were further apart in ohms for bridge and neck pickups, hence the bridge and neck pickups were more different in tone than are the new BT 2S pickups.

I have two Gretsch guitars and love them! I bought a G2410 and it is a beautiful guitar for the price, but there is a however. I have a Jet with filter trons, these are a far superior pick up in my humble opinion. I am toying with replacing the brod trons with filter trons. This is not as easy as it seems because the brod trons are a larger pickup and I will need pick up surrounds to fill the void around the new pickups. Any help finding pickup surrounds would be very gratefully received. Another point is that the tuning stability on these guitars isn't the best. I rarely use the Bigsby and with normal bending the guitars will both go out of tune. I am in the process of buying a set of replacement machine heads for both guitars. My advice is if you are going to purchase one of these guitars price in a set of original Grover tuners into your budget. The G2410 is a great guitar to pimp. I have replaced the knobs with chrome Gretsch examples. I also swapped out the slecter switch knob with a chrome one. Some truss rod covers out there are works of art. I am also looking for a pearloid pickguard if someone can please point me to somewhere in the UK where I can purchase one. I just think these guitars lend themselves to the retro 50s and 60s Vegas look. The glitzier the better lol.

Hello Oscar I know it's been a year or more and I'm just wondering if you did the pickup swap to filtertrons and if so are you pleased with the tone? I just bought the streamliner 2420 and am very pleased with it, it plays like butter and the pickups are really good but I'd kinda like to get that classic Gretsch twang too. I'm thinking about either taking it back and going up to the electromatic 5420 or doing the pickup swap, is the neck on your 5420 as comfy as the one on the 2420? Any help would be appreciated?

@@williamsherman1089 Yes I did, they totally changed the sound of fle guitar, less output, but more tone. The guy who sets up my guitars was amazed. I also put a grey scratch plate on the guitar and it looks great and sounds great now. I purchased a Harley Benton Bigtone for a bit of fun. It was nothing like a Gretsch! I put the Gretsch brod tron pickups from my Streamliner into this guitar. It helped the guitar, but it is still a bit of a wooden box with strings.

It's amazing how good the quality of the Streamliners is , really pushing the possibilities of what's available at this price. certainly usable in a pro setting , no doubt.
