Thank you for reviewing the Tritium TG5 With the Fan spray. First things first, I understand where you are coming from with regard to your airbrush holder. Yes, the Grex holder does mount to the table edge,,,like anything there are pros and cons. What you have appears to work well for you. As for hanging the Tritium on the holder rungs by the trigger, there is nothing wrong with that. The trigger assembly is very robust and that is what I do all the time, whether it's my personal Tritium or demo brushes for consumers to try out. So you are fine with that practice, it won't harm the airbrush at all. With regards to color cups, you are using the largest color cup that comes with the airbrush but it's not the largest color cup Grex makes. Sold separately, the CP50-1 (gravity feed) is a 50 cc (1.7 oz) color cup. For really large quantities the CP125-G, 125 cc (4.2 oz) is available. There are corresponding color cups for the side feed versions of the Genesis and Tritium airbrushes as well. Thank you also for touching on the adaptability of Grex airbrushes in terms of parts compatibility. That is fully intended so the consumer that prefers either the traditional style airbrush versus the pistol grip Tritium get the same benefits in terms of the ability to reconfigure the airbrush to meet specific needs. For those that don't know the fluid nozzles, needles and nozzle caps all have identifying marks so as not to confuse the parts for one needle/nozzle size versus another. One thing you may notice with the Tritium is the superior paint performance. It will be more noticeable with a normal configuration (no fan cap) when the trigger is released and air is then initiated again, there is no spatter to be concerned with. Spatter has the "potential" to occur with any traditional style airbrush regardless of make or price point. If medium (ink or paint) and air are stopped simultaneously and air initiated again, spatter can occur. With the pistol grip airbrush this will not happen. As demonstrated in the video, air is initiated first, then the paint. Well, reverse that when the trigger is released, paint will stop first, then the air. This effectively clears the needle of paint so when air is initiated again there is no paint remaining on the needle to cause spatter. The only way spatter can occur is if the airbrush is not cleaned properly over a period of time or the fluid nozzle has been damaged or compromised in some way. This is a significant advantage when spraying very detailed areas or doing mottled effects such as that of some German Tank and aircraft schemes from World War II.

Best airbrush I've ever used. Best primer I've ever used. I got mine about 4-5 years ago and will never use a different airbrush.

Hello Mr.Crispy, I'm new to the airbrushing world, and would like to know what air compressor would be the best and quietest. Don't want to piss off the neighbors late at night, with a lot noise. P.s The videos you have produced are great and very informative. Thanks, Albert

All of them are going to make some noise. They're not any louder than a dishwasher or laundry machine but I still wouldn't recommend using them past 9 or 10 pm just because. Personally, I prefer a compressor with a tank as it fits the way I work BUT the tank will actually amplify the noise a bit so there's that to take into consideration. A good tank-less compressor will be quieter. Pretty much any compressor will be reliable enough for a hobbyist. The most important thing is that it has a really good regulator on it so you can adjust the air flow. On a side note: I have noticed, and it may just be me, but it seems to me that the higher quality the compressor, the quieter it seems to run. I had a super cheap ($30) tank-less compressor and when I got my tank...uhm..tank-full? tankish? Frek it...my better compressor with the tank ($150-$200) it was strangely quieter than the dirt cheap one. At the same time, I've seem high-end tank-less compressors that are almost whisper quiet. A final trick if noise is really your big hangup: you can actually get some scuba tanks and fit an airbrush hose on to them. The tank will last a surprisingly long time and you can pick up some used ones pretty cheap. The downside is that it costs about $5 to refill the tanks each time but it's zero noise there. You figure about 40 scuba refills will cost as much as 1 compressor (not counting the price of the tanks) and it's not that bad. I use a Badger Aspire Pro compressor, just FYI. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the informative video! Thinking of getting this gun and I have the same Aspire pro compressor as you. How do you find the compressor with .5 fan cap. Is the fan cap a pig on air and the compressor is constantly running? Thanks in advance! Cheers.

What is the approximate size of the spray pattern when using the .5mm Fan Cap?

I ordered a Genesis for myself, last week as a birthday gift. Thanks for your comparison video. That was most helpful. I was going to order the 3mm fan nozzle, but I was put off by the $40 price tag for a nozzle. I also want it to spray Stynylrez (not just a bad typeface, but a ridiculous name too). I think the fan nozzle will be great for spraying varnish too. Do you feel that the $40 justifies the price?

This may sound like a cop out answer but it depends on the need. The fan nozzle is great for covering a larger surface area. If you're painting murals, automotive, helmets, etc it's a must have. For models and such, it's admittedly a bit on the overkill side for the individual Warhammer figurines. However for the larger vehicles, hero models and buildings it makes life easier. It's not an "omg how did I ever live without it" kind of item, mind you. More like "cuts priming/varnishing time in half on this large ruined building/Imperial Knight" kind of thing. Also, how are you liking your Genesis?

Just one point I would like to make regarding the TF-3 Fan Cap. It is the only .3mm fan cap on the market by any manufacturer. Most manufacturers start at .5 and go up from there. With that said, and this is my opinion, .5mm fan caps can easily overwhelm small scale subjects. Others may differ but that's my opinion. The .3mm provides an atomization thats very fine and often will not spray opaque on the first pass. 3-4 passes over a surface maybe necessary but the advantage to that is arriving at opacity without overwhelming the subject's detail with too much paint. If you are achieving good opacity with your primer/base coats then the fan cap is not necessary. If you are swamping some areas of detail then the fan cap will help eliminate that issue.

How's the Grex Tritium still working out for you as a primer/large base coat brush? Still using the TF-5 Fan cap? Struggling in deciding between the Grex Tritium and the Iwata TRN models. The fan option seems to give a nice edge to the Grex if it's still working well for you in that capacity.

Still working great. It's even more of an asset when I'm priming and base coating terrain. I keep planning on doing a video specifically about that brush but time, work and toddler keep getting in the way.
