Have you ever wondered how to tell if grey hair is considered resistant? Or which series of color you should use to create the best coverage? This video explains how texture affects your grey coverage and when to use Intense Naturals over Naturals. If there is a question you would like to have answered, be sure to leave it in the comments!

Ive been using 00/5 to cover my greys and all i got from using it is super unnatural black look on my hair while my greys barely get covered (they turn orange) 🤦🏻‍♀️ but now i know I actually have to use 0/55 ! I really hope this works on my crazy stubborn greys. Thank you for this video

This finally explains why the double NN naturals will work differently on fine and course hair and why color can grab around a fiiner hairline!! Thanks!!

It does explain it but did I miss something? What if you have gray resistant hair with fine hair? I just trying to retouch the new growth and ended up with hot roots using a 7NN.

I have resistant gray hair and when I am a hairdresser but don't know much about color. I work cutting hair so have not needed to know much about color. I did my re touch on my roots I ended up with hot roots (like when we see people trying to cover their gray at home and they have that reddish) noticeable color). I love the ends of my hair but hate my roots. I did a 7NN from Joico any suggestions? I have resistant gray hair as well. Please help?

Apparently I have very resistant grey hairs. Used the L’Oréal majirel 7NN. Let sit for 45 mins and did not cover all the grey. I can still see the grey through the colour! So frustrated and not sure what to do at this point

Great video. Can you help. Grey and getting more grey/white now at root. Both at salon and when i cant get there every 4 weeks use same recipe at both goldwell topchic 8nn 8a with 6% I commented to hairdresser was getting a bit of a warm tinge but she said was fine. I bought 3% 10V and it calmed it down went more ash. Still not getting there yet So while in covid zone got goldwell blonding cream ash and husband pasted me some easi mesh blades at 6vol. Not much difference despite 1 hour developing time. Just ordered some 9% vol and 11a to try easi mesh again. Any suggestions to get rid of my ginger tinge on fine straight hair which is fairly abundant and shoulder length. I only have goldwell with all salon style kit so measurements are spot on.

I have a question..... my hair is all white in front and you can see the salt and pepper effect on my part. My natural hair color is a dark blonde/light brown. If I use a dark blonde base color to cover the greys, it looks too dark and the whites show up too fast. Therefore, a lighter blonde is better. Can i use a light natural blonde on my hair to cover the greys each month vs. trying to match my hair color to a dark blonde? IF i can use a light natural blonde on my greys, can I use a 10 developer?

Hi I love the way yup explained the difference of hair texture and the reasoning. I do have a question, I use a 6nn. Double pigment in redden I used to use 6n and it used to look good with my highlights but recently the artist changed it to 6nn as my greys were not getting covered but it looks dark and makes my hair look brassy as I have highlights! I plan to color it myself as I am visiting the salon every 14 days so what strength developer should I use ? I would appreciate your response. Thank you

sancia fernandes I would recommend you work with your stylist on adjusting your formula. Perhaps lightening it and extending development time. I would not recommend you try to do your color yourself. That's a recipe for disaster as it is very difficult to do a proper new growth application on yourself, and without a license you will not be able to purchase the professional color she uses. Sometimes it takes a couple tries to perfect the formula. And if it is too warm or brassy, she may want to try Wella Professionals color! It is much easier to control warmth than a lot of other brands. Thank you for watching!

Sancia Anderson totally lean to DIY. Too expensive to go every 14 days! Do a lighter foil at salon then you can do a level 6NN or 7NN on roots only with 20 volume & process 45 mins. Put coconut oil on your mids & ends to prevent leakage.

Ok my question is, I have 100% grey and want level 6. Why not use 6/00? And how much of a fashion colour can I add? Is it 50/50 or 75% of natural and 25% of the fashion colour?

I am a fairly new stylist( 2 years)and I colour my Nanna's hair (aged 93). I generally use a level 10/N/20 vol... It seems to not hold the colour long...now I see why! Her hair is very coarse and thick. I will try your advice. So will I look for a 10/10/N? Is there such a level? Is that found in most colour lines?
@strandsofinspiration8369
@strandsofinspiration8369 7 жыл бұрын
TA Lindsay I use Wella Professionals color, but most lines do have a "double pigmented" line. It could be a 6NN for example in another line, or 66/0 in Wella. A level 10 usually does not have enough pigment to truly cover gray. But Wella's Intense Naturals comes in a level 9 (99/0). Usually you have to be at a level 8 to get true coverage in the basic shades. But the personality of each color line can be a little different! Once you understand the basics it is easier to navigate the tools available in each line. Good luck creating her perfect formula!

I am starting to go grey. I don’t mind this. I’m very happy with the change just not the texture. How can I help my crazy fishing line greys blend in with my finer hair? Should I put a clear coat on the hair? I had bangs cut why I don’t know but those hairs shorter now are so hard to tame. Heat helps a bit but. My word I look like a walking barometer. Raining 🌧 🌩hair stands ⛅️☀️hot and humid hair stands cold and snowing 🌨☃️my hair still stands straight up, like a lighting rod to God. ⚡️ I love catching someone starring at my medusa greys and saying 🧟‍♂️ be carful staring will make you catch the greys. 💁🏻‍♀️I’m joking... no. Not really. Hehehehe. Help. I like the grey. Don’t mind it. Just the texture. My my. Am I going to be one of those woman that looks like she has hay for hair. Better never wear gingham, note to self. Help, please. 🙏🏻

Yes... I so feel for you girl! That is exactly what I am dealing with right now. I have always had amazing hair & no matter what I always knew how to manage & style it. I could sit down to have my stylist do what i asked for without any worry if it was going to turn out right or me not be able to style it the way I like. But...now I don't even know who's hair this is & it won't take color. I sadly cut it all off thinking knew healthy hair would help it. Nope. If anything it's worse! Just had extensions put in for the 1st time while it grows. The extension stylist I went to could not get my hair to the color to match it after a couple hours of doing different things with test strips. Between this & the texture issue... I'm @ a loss of what to do next to feel like myself again?

Use a box color that is for resistent gray or if you use professional hair color use a gray coverage line or a double pigment color tube , if you color at home after aplying the color put a plastic bag on your head covering all the hair or a bathing cap and leave on for 45 min let sit with natural heat or with a blowdryer put on low heat setting and heat your full head evenly for 25 min that will open the cuticule and let color penetrate better in the hair

I know this is an old thread but... I have very fine hair but I am starting to get some grays on the crown. Those hairs that are gray are coming in more cores. The semi and Demi perm colors only slightly add color to my medium brown hair and the grey peaks through quickly. Because my hair is so fine, it can damage easily and I try to avoid permanent color if possible. Could I color my hair at the roots at the crown with a stronger solution (permanent color) and then use Demi perm color on the rest?
@juliemiller1409
@juliemiller1409 7 жыл бұрын
I always recommend having a professional color your hair because as you have found out there is a lot of chemistry to understand! But that is how a professional would do it- permanent color on the new growth/virgin/resistant area and ammonia free Demi or semi on the ends.

drmychelle , you can but why mix 2 formulas. If your using a brown in demi just go darker one shade or 2..
@user-gw2bj3dq4e
@user-gw2bj3dq4e 6 жыл бұрын
Because you have fine hair doesnt mean that permanent color could damage it. You would just have to dye it every month, as the color starts to fade and this creates holes to the cortex, but also your root shows up with the grays. So even if you are using demi color you should dye it every month or even more frequently because demi color fades quicker, and also it covers gray hair 70-80% in the best case. You should use a permanent basic color, or a permanent basic color with a /3(gold).

I have fine hair, both gray's and brown hair, and the gold standard dyes like L'Oreal Creme Excellence for Resistant Grays still leave my gray's orangey. I mix it carefully, I leave it in long enough, etc. Don't get it.
