Yeah but I think at that moment Owen was right, if they had kept them alive those pigs would have suffered SO MUCH MORE. I think the wrong thing was doing it in the first place, when there’s already enough technology for that not being necessary. Owen is old fashion and sloppy when it comes to doing surgery but that’s probably because of his years as a military doctor. Also he is a TRAUMA surgeon and they usually prioritize being fast and not thinking twice when there are emergencies

it makes me sick that there are so few people out there who have the same belief about animals cruelty as Izzie. Human beings are such incredibly selfish creatures. The world would be a better place if we treated animals with the same care and respect we treat our own species. GOD what is wrong with the world

I agree with you but without animals then you won’t be able to type this comment to begin with. Yes, most animals are being used for human entertainment and happiness but it’s not wrong to admit that we, humans, need animals to survive. For izzie tho, what’s the difference with using a mouse for medicine trial and a pig for surgical practice? Nothing. Then why did she only react that way to the pigs when there’s a lot of mice and guinea pigs being used as experiments. Animals are smart and sensitive but izzie is so hypocrite in this episode.

@@chanieee9566 you're missing the point here. She says in this episode that there are simulated ways to do surgical practice with mannequins and machines. Putting the pigs through it was unnecessary. Do you remember this episode mate? The difference between using live animals for medicine research and using animals for surgical practice is that there are better, humane ways to learn how to perform surgery that don't involve putting animals through unnecessary pain which is what Izzie's point was. To practice surgery they can use cadavers or machines, killing the pigs was unnecessary and cruel, unnecessary and cruel _because_ there are better ways to learn how to perform surgery without putting someone or something in unnecessary pain. Drug trials are a totally different thing which is _not_ happening in this episode Izzie's second to last line in this video clip: " you are torturing God's creatures in an age **where we are no longer required to** "

If I were Izzie, I'd have sued Seattle Grace. It's appalling that noone in the hospital protested to what was clearly cruelty to animals, but I'm sure that there are plenty of animal rights organisations that would have. A lawsuit would have taught them all a sharp lesson.

I always got sick of Izzie and her speeches but in this scene For the 1st time i was team izzie... no one in the hospital seemed to give a crap about the animals but yeah they were all mesmerised by the new tough guy

It’s not that she doesn’t have the stomach though, clearly if you she operate on humans then the issue wouldn’t be that it disgusts her The issue was unnecessary cruelty to animals and she was right, the animals were sick and going to die anyway but none of that was known when they did this

Best way to learn is to do it for real, that’s the point of the pigs. Simulations aren’t as stressful, or real because you know it’s not real. It’s not just medical training it’s mental training to remain composed when under duress when a living breathing being is relying on you to do your job. It’s a Hollywood script to make certain characters seem “moral” and others immoral or unfeeling. It’s to push the agenda that killing animals is wrong. Which sometimes it is sometimes it isn’t. All I know is that I’d want someone whose done those types of surgeries on living tissue working on me, not just simulations. Technology isn’t always there to make your job easier, GPS’s are great but you better know how to use a map and compass otherwise you’re gonna get lost. Same goes for medicine or other skill sets.

Yeah and risked throwing away her entire career for it, she had everything to lose, stabbing pigs violently so that you can do lots of surgeries on them means you gain all the knowledge and the pigs lose their lives and gain nothing...totally different situations
