@@papileche8686 i mean, if you ever paid attention you would have realize she has always been a feminist. Like, she is a black doctor, she was chief resident, head of general and chief of surgery. She had to fight with teeth and claws to get what she deserved. She's been a feminist all along.
@milagroslavorgnia32936 жыл бұрын
@@papileche8686 the fact that she is black and was chief resident is what tells you she is a feminist. She had to work her ass off in an industry that was built mostly by and for men. Just like Ellis, she was stepped on because she was a woman, plus a black one. When she learnt to defend herself, she fought to keep herself up. Just because now she is speaking up about issues doesn't mean she just started to be a feminist. She's always been.
@milagroslavorgnia32936 жыл бұрын
@@papileche8686 of course im a feminist. I believe in equal rights, and Bailey's character shows that you can too achieve what you want, even in a world thats not so used to see women in charge, or having big, important jobs. I'm not sure how people don't seem to understand this episode. Callie always plays music and is very strongly tied to music in the show, even the actress in real life has experience singing so when the episode was about her life hanging in the line she envisions her friends singing to her; it's how she calms herself.

It honestly frustrates me that this episode gets so much hate. The musical episode is actually genius and very cleverly done. It shows that Callie is afraid following her accident and she’s trying to find a way to calm herself down. Also shows the extent of her head injury as she’s hallucinating everyone singing. This episode would’ve been a lot less interesting if it’d be done the same as the others.

For all of the people talking as though this was a badly designed scene...despite knowing very little about the show, I'd say this was probably a well-designed scene. From my uninformed interpretation, the song is essentially either the patient or her (prospective?) fiancee retreating into mental and physical shock and beginning to hallucinate. My assumption is that the two doctors who begin singing are the two that mean the most to her for some reason (close friends or colleagues?). I think that the use of the music quite well illustrates the effect of an intense moment--the only thing that I think would have hit harder would have been a slow subtractive progression where the ER team's voices fade out, then the background noise fades out, then the immediate vicinity sounds fade out, until at 3:17 there is absolute silence until 4:22, when the defibrillation is effective and the heart is started again. Music and silence are both very powerful forms of aural communication, and I'd say that anyone who doesn't understand the power of this scene, even from an unfamiliar point of view, need to take a step back and learn more about sound design in storytelling.

I still get goosebumps when she starts singing, I remember when my brother watched this show a while ago and I was 10 and honestly this traumatized but I remember I was sobbing because I felt what it was like to almost lose someone to a car accident (although for me it was losing someone)

Kevin McKidd (the actor who plays Owen) is Scottish. I love the fact that someone Scottish can both act and sing in an American accent. P.s. I'm Scottish.

If you work in Trauma unit, accidents, are your everyday reality. And if you work in the Trauma unit of a major hospital, terrible accidents are your daily bread.
