Grey's Anatomy: Jo & Alex - "What About Us" (through ep 16x16)

Hi everyone! Note I've seen 16x17 (the newest episode) now too so feel free to mention it in the comments. I've caught up! I'll also transcribe all the voiceovers for this vid Saturday but if you have a question about a line or two feel free to ask and I'll tell you sooner! So anyway...
I think the episode to say goodbye to Alex Karev was amazingly well done, considering they chose to write such an AWFUL thing that hurts all of us so much. Especially those of us still watching the show and at all invested in Jo's storyline, because they've made such a huge deal over the course of her entire arc but especially this past season with her needing to go into inpatient psychiatric care, that abandonment is the source of her core extreme trauma. To make all the viewers of the show as well as Alex Karev so aware of how deeply abandonment would hurt Jo, and then have Alex literally just abandon her... I can't even. Anyway.
I was very inspired to make my first ever Jo/Alex vid and now that I have, I hope it won't be my last! I actually asked that someone vid Jo/Alex for me for Vidders4ACause in the summer of 2013: • ► Alex & Jo | ... like... - I've loved the ship for quite a long while, I must say. I don't hear the ship name Jolex much but I guess it's theirs, and I'm newly re-obsessed with them now that I've spent the past week working on this, starting Saturday.
I really wish Justin Chambers hadn't had to leave the show, and I almost wish if Alex had to be off the show, that they wrote Jo off with him just to not ruin the ship. Like Lucas/Peyton leaving One Tree Hill or Abby/Luka on ER driving off to Boston. Like I am excited to see what Jo has next in her storyline and I have been loving her more than Alex for the past couple seasons I think, but also... this pain... I feel it vicariously or something. I can't get over how extremely traumatic this would be for Jo and even if they don't write it that way, I can't shake how awful it is for the writing to have done this to Jo.
I made a mistake in the end credits because I forgot the two Izzie scenes I used were from seasons 2 and 5, so i didn't only use seasons 6-16. Whoops. I also accidentally used my luvtheheaven5 watermark I only use on collabs instead of just writing luvtheheaven in my watermark. I never do this but apparently I vid my own non-collab vids so rarely these days that I forgot!!
I had to render this vid in 2 parts then splice the parts together, because Vegas kept crashing on me but I think it turned out seamless in the end. I'm pretty proud of how this turned out! I kept tweaking it, taking into account my partner's advice too who I kept asking to watch test renders of portions of the vid, until I was satisfied!
When did I pass 5,000 subscribers?! Awesome. Thank you all of you! That's such a huge honor. I don't feel like I deserve so many of you. I appreciate all of you, although sometimes I find it hard to believe more than a handful of people like my videos when most of them don't get more than a few hundred views and like 10 comments... I think one of my goals with this vid was to hopefully post it while feelings about all this are strong enough that it'll get more views and more comments... ;)

Izzy actually did come back for one episode, and did try to get back together with Alex, though Alex rejected the effort, I believe his exact words were, "I love you, but I deserve better." Which I couldn't blame him for, though was still sad that the writers decided to go that root (ie. initially leaving Alex via a letter).

actually she didn't remember she came back and then when she did he told her that he didn't want her to come back anymore because if she left him once he was scared that she would leave him again. What she had done was she sent divorce papers to him.

Jo was literally the whole package for Alex. She wants kids, she understands his past, she is there for him. They got married. They started of as friends and they are literally soulmates. So since izzie wasn’t there they automatically have to go to her closest next of kin or whatever which obviously was Alex so yeah he didn’t pay off the debt he just got it and had to hold onto it until Izzie came back and stuff so yeah

I loved this couple so much. I loved all their storylines and how they only grew stronger from them. The only way for Alex to leave was like this, honestly. He always loved Izzy, even if Jo ended up being his biggest love. With Alex's whole family backstory and his deadbeat dad, it does make sense for him to go to her and be a dad to his kids, something he never had. I just really wish it hadn't happened and that it was Jo he started the family with ;-;

I actually like this ending. Like, it sucks, but I actually like the writing. They've been forshadowing it for seasons. It shows that Alex is not perfect. He's grown, but not so much that he's a different person. He's still the person to make impulsive choices to benefit himself. Izzie was his first love, maybe not the longest, or the most stable and happy, but the most passionate and the deepest. I totally get why people are pissed at his ending, but I'm not surprised. He's been in love with Izzie for YEARS. I'm surprised he didn't go back sooner.

Thanks for watching and commenting. 💜💙 Because i have experience being ghosted in a romantic relationship where we weren't even engaged or that committed and I'd known the guy nearly 2 years but we'd only been dating for less than a whole year of that and it was still so traumatic for me, the thought of this possibly happening inside a marriage as happy and sure as Jo's was borderline traumatic for me to watch. I just internalized how this was literally the most awful thing ever that it doesn't even compute for Jo and couldn't resist making this tribute. Maybe I'll even make another tribute to this arc in this future. I still haven't shaken all my feels over it.
