@@carolemerle9995 indeed. I've had them for 12 years, though never due to something like this. Not knowing what has happened to you and waking up disoriented and unsure of where you are or who is around you is super scary, especially if you've never had one before. I've had 5 concussions in 4 months because of them. Not fun.

@michaelboucher4243 the nhl paramedics don't wear them. Don't let that stupid health and safety rule get in the way of getting to someone in a serious condition in time. If they need to wear them then whatever, but wear them all the time so they don't spend 5 minutes putting them on before they even get on the ice.

What did they do wrong in terms of patient care?
@ThatAlternativeTransGirl
@ThatAlternativeTransGirl Жыл бұрын
@@Kurathis552 when it comes to seizures, especially if they come in multiples, every second counts, because all movements during a seizure cannot be controlled. Also, it's one thing if someone is seizing in regular clothes. Those skates could've caused even worse problems. It took far too long to get to him. It appears that once they finally arrived, they were taking the necessary precautions. I commend them for that for sure.
@Kurathis552
@Kurathis552 Жыл бұрын
@@ThatAlternativeTransGirl "when it comes to seizures, especially if they come in multiples, every second counts..." Regardless of what the emergency is, every second always counts. In this case, however, the paramedics were never going to be part of the patient care - there was already a team physician (doctor) and trainers tending to the patient prior to the paramedics' arrival. "...because all movements during a seizure cannot be controlled." Bodily movements are not top priority in terms of seizures. The top priority is minimizing (or stopping) damage to the brain or heart. "Also, it's one thing if someone is seizing in regular clothes. Those skates could've caused even worse problems." Such as what, exactly? "It took far too long to get to him." They had to walk approximately 32 meters - the average person walks 30 meters in 20 seconds; this is assuming flat, paved ground with no obstacles or dangers. At face value, the medics took 33 seconds to reach the patient. That is 13 seconds longer than the average person. HOWEVER, they are on ICE AND they are pushing/pulling a stretcher with gear on top of it. In addition to their response time being within a reasonable time frame, they weren't there for PATIENT CARE - the patient had already gone through the seizure with other medical staff (who were less than 3 feet away) on site. The medics were for TRANSPORTATION only.

Paramedics weren't moving urgently because the team doctor was already tending to the player. I will agree they got going really slowly but them being hasteful could've possibly made things worse. The training staff hops over the boards from behind the bench and I promise they're more suited for that situation than the paramedics

How often are paramedics called to the ice? They were right inside the glass, they moved swiftly n safely down a sheet of ice. Luc had trainers and Drs tending to him making sure he was ok, before taking him off on a stretcher. Its the OHL, kids hit often and hard like that. @Deenaziamazinjg14 it's a slew foot, watch the replay a million times until you understand that a 180+ pound man doesn't lose his footing unless opposing movements from the other player sweeps at his heels. Therefore causing first contact to be his head, while his feet are in the air. You don't understand hockey nor the basic visuals of a slewfoot occurring in slow motion. Get glasses & get off comment sections, you aren't providing any wisdom here.

Everyone lines up about 3 feet from the boards and one player skates along the boards getting hit by each player one after the next (I think it was called the "grinder" or something). It was my turn to take the hits. I was always good at taking hits, but once I got to the biggest guy on my team, he crushed me to were My helmet caved in. I didn't get hurt at all, but I remember after practice a coach took my helmet and started inspecting it, saying if I had gotten hurt, I could have sued Bauer.
