Playing this to my 1yr old baby in 2003, and her watching her, on stage, this year, while working download festival. 20 yrs it’s been hidden away in her soul brewing her love for rock, this and others of course, so to see her bands but her 20yrs later, in person sing this song again was a very proud mama moment 🥹

To me it's not just one memory. I was in high school and was just starting my journey into rock music (listened to mostly pop and R&B) and bands like Evanescence, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Breaking Benjamin, Linkin Park and Incubus really changed my musical tastes. Was a wonderful time to be a rock fan that looking back on now I realize how lucky I was to experience it when it was happening.

When this song and " My Immortal by Evanescence came out, I had lost my husband of 42 years. I had no words to describe the pain. These two songs gave me comfort because they gave words to the pain I was going through. Music is everything.

Other songs I recommend from Evanescence are Going Under, My Immortal, and Call Me When You're Sober. If you want a better duo than this with Amy Lee, I recommend Broken by Seether. Edit: Fun fact, Amy Lee didn't want a rapper on this song, but was forced into it by her label. Considering the song's success I'm sure she's over it by now.

Re: edit... yeah, and it wasn't just that he was rock/rap; she thought their music could stand on its own and didn't want listeners to think that how this was done was who they were, because it was their debut and a collaboration.

I don't know a lot about Evanescence to be honest but if you like beautiful voices, there's a song that had many many reactions on you tube and that deserves a try maybe : kzbin.info/www/bejne/mofZnaCmpJqab80 Most reactors think she wrote the song. Actually she didn't, it's from a singer called Serge Lama, in the 70s.

This song shot Evanescence into the stratosphere! They were a college/local circuit band in Little Rock Arkansas. This song was chosen to be on the soundtrack of the Ben Affleck Daredevil movie in 2002/3ish and the rest is history! Amy Lee is a classically trained pianist and naturally gifted singing voice. She has been described as angelic from the moment her voice hit the public airwaves! Their first album, Origin, is out of this world. Sadly though the original lineup was quite short lived. (2007 I think)..

Saw them live in 2003 or 2004 in the parking lot of my college stadium for a festival. During the performance of THIS VERY SONG, during her last big sustained note, the power for the entire stage shuts off but her voice still carried over the whole crowd. It was so surreal! This was before their first album had officially dropped and this song was a single for the Daredevil soundtrack.

So the way the images and lyrics go. She has already died and her spirit is wandering through the after life. At 11:30 we see her spirit traveling past a mans apartment. Before this we see her also pass a couple wathcing T.V. And in between the two we see a party going on. The message here is that the people who are living their life cannot see her because their eyes are closed (the windows are closed) but the young woman who takes off her mask in the party kind of sees her because her window (eyes) are opened. The man she goes to visit is in a mental asylum, look at the room in which he is in. The signifies that he is traped with in his grief and when he see's her he opens the window. By opening the window she comes to the realization that she has died and falls off but he cathces her. He cathes her because he is still holding on to her memory, his guilt, he won't let her go. If you look at when they are holding hands, he is trying to lift her but she is trying to push off the ledge. He needs to let her go, he needs to let go of the grief and let her pass on. Once she falls, we see him in the corner of the window, but he is free and we then see her and she is finally resting in peace.

The whispery voice you were hearing at 13:11 is actually in English. The words are "I've been living a lie, there's nothing inside". This brings me back to my high school days, I was IN LOVE with Evanescence and Amy Lee...I bought everything I could get my hands on, and binged like it was my job. Her voice actually reminds me of Chen from EXO. Nasally, but strong....penetrating. I think the best word to describe them is "piercing". I always love rock bands with female leads...Chvrches, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Blondie, Jefferson Airplane, and obviously Evanescence...some of my absolute faves!!!

My daughter is obsessed sadly for my poor ears 😂😂 but we did go see evanescence together last year and it was a very special night. I got her into alot of rock/metal and she's got me into nu metal and heavier groups than I originally was into. Now Metallica sounds shite In comparison. When I heard Sempiternal for the 1st time, my head exploded . Why did I tell you all that. Naaaaaw fuck it 😂😂

Evanescence was the first band to marry more traditional female vocals with a heavy guitar sound and breakout into the mainstream with it. They were played everywhere in the early 2000's. Amy wrote this song about one of her bandmates (they ended up in a relationship for a while). She had been going through some tough times mentally and realized in the middle of it that she loved him. "How can you see into my eyes, like open doors."

The first time I heard this song, I was 15, sitting on my bed, drawing and watching Fuse TV (Cuz that's what ya do as an emo kid in 2003). I was looking down at my drawing, and I heard the piano intro, and I thought it sounded interesting. Then, she started to sing. My head snapped up so fast, I almost got whiplash. 20 years later and still madly in love with their music. This song came out in 2003 and I didn't get to see them Live until the Synthesis tour in 2017 (Full concert available on YT), and that was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Enjoy the rabbit hole. It's a beautiful one.

Even tho it never been my favourite song of them it was SO popular when I was 15 it's always nice to listen to it again :D Amy Lee is one of the singer that teached me how to sing the most. I copied her and worked for hours on her songs to follow every single variation of her voice. I will always have a special feeling for Evanescence. I still listen and sing by heart the songs once in a while. I really never never would've think you'd react to them !! So it was a HUGE suprise, and even a bigger one to see that you liked it !! The album was released in 2003 (I was 24, lol) and this song was insanely popular; it was played A LOT on the radio and could be heard fairly often in stores (at least here in the States). This was the first song I heard by them, and I immediately found the CD to buy it. That thing saw a ton of play-time in my car, where I could just sing along like no one could hear me. It was a time where I was struggling emotionally, and this track joined 10 or 12 others that quite literally helped me stay alive through that period. I can't even remember most of what happened back then, but I distinctly remember Evanescence being a big part of the tether that kept me halfway grounded (which was as grounded as I ever got back then). Evanescence was also probably the driving force behind me eventually finding other female-fronted rock like Within Temptation and Nightwish (dear heavens, Floor Jansen's been their official lead singer since 2013, and that woman has such an insanely broad range of talent in her voice, she's amazing; the band as a whole is killer, and I'm so spoiled by them).

My memories actually encompass the whole album lol I was listening to it in the background on repeat while reading my first Anne Rice vampire book for a 9th grade book report. Now I just strongly associate Evanescence with vampires. I love Amy Lee's voice, it is so powerful and distinctive, you always know it is her in a song. She was only 19 when she wrote this and 22 when the song was released. I don't think you have checked out Bring Me The Horizon (British rock band) yet? (If i missed your first reaction to them I'll be devastated lol) they did a song featuring Amy Lee in 2020 called "One Day The Only Butterflies Left Will Be In Your Chest As You March Towards Your Death" where Amy Lee is the voice of Mother Earth and BMTH is humanity. The whole song gives me chills. And her voice has only gotten more amazing in the past years ❤ A vocal queen 👸 I think I'm going to go listen to this whole album now...

I saw Evenescence perform 2 years ago with Halestorm, and Amy Lee still sounds absolutely amazing! Lizzy Hale from Halestorm and her also have a beautiful song they did together called Break In. That song with a see of cell phones lights was surreal to see. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYbYh4Wbf7ilmZY

Listen to them live. She actually did a collab with Bring Me the Horizon at download and she did butterfly’s which was a collab and Nihilist Blue which has a story with BMTH and Evanescence anyway. Amy has a voice that can pierce metal music but by herself is literally breathtaking. She did good enough at Steinway concert and it’s literally amazing

When sleeping and your dream makes you fall and you jolt awake. It’s your nervous system checking for final danger before finally relaxing the brain for sleep. Your brain sees itself as vulnerable to attack and JOLTS you awake. I had a sleep study done and my physiatrist told me this. #trauma 😂

Hey Teddy, I love that you are checking out more rock and metal. There is so much good music out there in all genres. I found you because of Stray Kids when you very first reacted to them and been with you ever since. Even though I love kpop, Rock/Metal, Nu metal has always been my first love in music. Helped me through so many hard times. I recommend the band System of a down and their song chop suey to start with. Chaotic but soooo good!

Went to high school a few years behind the male singer in this song. He's got his own band 12 Stones that was HUGE in our small town the year their album dropped and this song came out and was used on the Daredevil soundtrack.

Amy Lee is an unbelievable talent, but there is another, arguably more epic voice in metal. Oh yes, I think it's NIGHTWISH time!!! You need to be introduced to the Valkyrie queen herself, miss Floor Jansen. Start with Ghost Love Score live at Wacken 2013. Be prepared for the nightwish army to descend in force

Hey Teddy! If you like Amy's voice you really should check out 'My Immortal' from the same band! It's a slow one, but it's really haunting and ethereal - and f*king beautiful!
