Grian, I sensed you having to hold back a lot of self criticism when you toured yourself, and I just have to say--first of all, well done holding it back: "let's focus on what we _have_ done instead of what we _haven't,"_--but second of all: you need to count this video among the things you have done. Seriously, there is just as much effort, purpose, and artistry in this as there is in any of your builds. What you've created here is an incredible collage of Minecraft, Art, and Humanity as a whole--I had _no_ idea what half these Hermits were up to (even some of your closest neighbors, like Skizz!), and this video does an amazing job of showcasing the variety that is flourishing among them. Colossal structures, gorgeous scenery, immaculate detail, ingenious engineering, immersive storytelling, even a bit of game design and outright _philosophy_--the Hermits truly are a microcosm of, like I said, Minecraft, Art, and Humanity. They're showing what those things are capable of, and the different forms of beauty they can take on. I already _kind of_ knew that, but never would have realized the extent of it without a video like this. It was such a joy discovering the true scope of Hermitcraft 10 more or less along with you, and hearing the glow in every Hermit's voice as they talked about their projects and took your compliments--not to mention the glow in _your_ voice as you witnessed their incredible feats. So seriously, _don't_ disparage yourself over this video. As far as I'm concerned, it is now a part of your Hermitcraft 10 legacy, just as impressive as any other part. And I also hope you don't take that as an insult to your builds. I'm not trying to make you lower your opinion of them to the same level as your opinion of this video--I'm trying to do the _opposite,_ and make you _raise_ your opinion of this video to the same level as your builds! Every Hermit has their theme for the season, right? Well, your theme, at least for these past four months, was showcasing the incredible work you and your peers have done. That's completely valid, and I thank you for it. Thank you for sticking with this mammoth of a project and making sure we got to see it, despite all the struggles it sounds like you had along the way. You deserve just as much praise as you gave the other Hermits.

Physics nerd here: Doc’s pig teleporter is crazier than you think. Not only did he put a pig into quantum superposition in minecraft, but he also was able to then use the minecraft equivalent of quantum entanglement to teleport a player at minecraft light speed. That pig is also basically Schrödinger’s pig, as it only seems to exist in a certain position when a player is sitting on it. This is insane red stone, and I have no idea how he did it
@Behold-my-brainwormsАй бұрын
Wait what the. I just figured it was some weird red stone glitch thingy. Docs just doing quantum pig science????
@orestisgeorgatos6725Ай бұрын
it's not actual quantum physics it's a minecraft tech community in joke. it's storing the velocity and using lazy chunks to not fully load the pig, which is why players can't go there (they'd be fully loading them, breaking the glitch)
@frostthegreyАй бұрын
minecraft entities push on other entities with force if their hitboxes intersect. boats will also do this despite being seemingly solid. all that needs to happen is that they spawn already intersecting the entity and cannot be moved. if you put a pig inside a lazy chunk (chunk that doesn't process entities) and spawn a bunch of boats inside it, it won't get pushed away by the boats but will still accumulate velocity from the boats. there's a lot of weird minecraft magic but an amazing redstoner called cubicmetre has an entire video on these "quantum pigs" that you should check out. he explains it better than i ever could.

This feels like Grian's way of empowering hermits. A project to go over what everyone is doing, expressing specific compliments on each build, but also things like enabling story hermits to talk about the stories they made, pushing more dismissive hermits into talking more about their hidden builds, highlighting work that hermits may dismiss as background but have been huge time investments and then, after all that, also working the video to not have too much style overlaps right after one another. So, to the person who did this and risks undermining the work they have done, I have this to say about the video you built: 14:21 "Thank you so much for showing me around!" 18:54 "There's a lot down there that we're gonna have to go have a look" 33:26 "This is awesome! And I know this isn't a coincidence, this has been thought out." 1:44:56 "I like that, that's really clever" 2:12:59 "I can see why this has been the main distraction" 2:31:08 "There's so much stuff!" 2:43:58 "I don't feel like I'm doing a tour, we're just playing some games" 3:15:19 "I think this is honestly about as perfect as it gets, looking at it without any [technical] knowledge whatsoever, it genuinely looks like you couldn't cut much of this out" 3:41:03 "There's something quite nice and unique in seeing all the different [parts] and how it's all interconnected" 4:12:23 "I love what you're doing. You're taking a very different approach to everyone else" 4:21:35 "Comparison is not a great thing on the server, so that's not something to worry about" 4:47:39 "That's something that's easy to forget when you got lots and lots of builds, you can make all the buildings but not connect them up very well" 5:11:19 "You know, a lot of people have these huge industrial farms, but sometimes something like this is exactly what just one person needs" 5:42:19 "This is, heh, I'm gonna use a pun, monumental" 5:44:49 "If you made it this far [...], why are you listening to me" 6:09:44 "So, again, this extra layer of activity and immersion and bringing [builds] to life" 6:23:28 "I think you've actually achieved what you set out to do, don't dismiss your building abilities cuz I think it looks pretty good" 7:03:11 "Thanks for showing me around" 7:04:31 "People don't appreciate quite how long things like this take" 7:07:42 "Everyone's kinda got their thing, right?" 7:13:12 "I like it, you're kinda making, well finding, your own style" 7:32:57 "I really like how immersive this is, I think you've nailed it" And don't worry Grian, I took breaks ;)

@AvruthlelbhАй бұрын
Views are misleading as total watchtime matters more than viewcount. Views get counted after a few seconds of opening the video, while watchtime is more about total time spent in the video, which is weighted higher than viewcount when it comes to performance. That being said, even a low retention rate can lead to a high watchtime, as even 10% of the video is almost an hour of watchtime, which is inherently a better performing video than anything a 45 minute video could get. KZbin is weird.

Grian is chaos neutral in this tour, compliments everyones work but also breaks something

This episode released 5 hours ago, and I just realised if people are watching throw all the way through with no breaks and no skips since it released, there still not done watching Edit: this is the most comments I’ve ever had on one of my comments, thank you all!

I’ve been watching since the beginning with one break for lunch and that’s it and I’m still watching. This is crazy and 1000000% worth it 🎉

“I’m gonna take it slow this season” Grian says, as he proceeds to take on multiple series at once, all the fishing stuff with the underground build, and THIS

I meann… if you compare the progress from this point of the season (almost a year in) to Season 6 or 7, it does seem like he’s taken it a bit slower

I want to say this might be the most monumental thing I've ever seen. I appreciate all the effort and time that went into this. From the crafting of the map area and setting up a recording session with each hermit, to the recording and editing, to the pushing other things off a little to get this epic movie series out! So incredibly cool and the work put into it is not taken for granted. As much as you're also highlighting all the effort and work everyone else has put in, this video was a monumental effort in documenting and cataloging. Deserves to be in a museum/archive.
