Those of you suggesting water for building under: it is a method that I did not include in the video, it's not ideal because you can't remain stationary, you drown but most importantly it breaks all grass, torches and redstone beneath you, which there usually is one. Very good point there are other methods - however none of them are a perfect fix, even bonemealing warped roots, they are under the block.

For example: - A full emerald beacon could give villagers a permanent discount. - A full gold beacon could make piglings peaceful, even when not wearing gold armor - A full iron beacon could make iron golems stronger and more durable - A full diamond beacon would give permanent usage-speed of all diamond/netherite tools (additional to haste 2 maybe) - A full netherite beacon would give all of the above as well as the 'Weird flex, but ok'-advancement. "There is a lot to be learned from the mods that people keep picking up time and time again." Exactly. A large portion of the most downloaded mods on Curseforge just make inventory management and ease of access better. For example JEI (170m downloads), Mouse & Inventory Tweaks (200m+ downloads combined), Iron Chests & Storage Drawers - item management mods (200m+ downloads combined), & AppleSkin - displays hunger and saturation value of all food items and your current saturation level on your HUD (100m+ downloads). My suggestion for the bats: If you want to go for the "they should drop an item" side of things, they could drop bat wings. Then you can craft four of those into a phantom membrane in the same way you can craft four rabbit hides into a piece of leather, and use those bat wings to repair your elytra. Bonus points, a bat wing in a brewing stand could make a potion of feather falling (since phantom membranes make slow falling). If you want to go full interaction mode like Grian suggested, you can use it with the sculk that was just added! Sculk sensors take and give off sounds, so what if making a sound near one (that wasn't in range of a shrieker) sent a signal to any bats in range, and the bat would chirp back and come investigate you? Then if you feed it something-maybe a melon slice for fruit bats, since melons go virtually unused, or glowberries since those are local fruit-they can sit on your shoulder, and squeak at you if something nearby makes a noise. For non-player interactions, bats could hunt down silverfish and endermites in the same way wolves hunt sheep and axolotls hunt down fish, since a lot of bats eat insects. This could be a reason to bring them into Strongholds, even; imagine taming a dozen bats or so, and unleashing the swarm upon the silverfish spawner! Another interaction, maybe they land and stop moving in high light levels, or move very slowly, like how the Striders slow and shiver when out of lava. They're nocturnal, they should act like it! Those are just a few fun things I thought of off the top of my head.

Bats do usually live in large colonies and do need access to the open air. Maybe make them fly around during the night and return to caves when it gets close to dawn. After all they don’t live in caves. The problem of more bats making a lot of noise is easily solved. Make them make less noise. Some species have sounds that humans can hear but most of the noises are out of our range. In general their behavior does not really match real life bats at all which is sad because the newer animals do in many ways

another issue to do with inventory is that back in the beginning, all you needed was a sword, pickaxe, torches and food at hand to do most things you need while exploring, and now you need so much more: buckets, bows, elytra/chest plate (depending on what you’re wearing), gold armour for nether, potions, shield, totem, fireworks. and most of those things you could use at any moment, which fills up your hotbar with necessities. i recently read a comment advocating for a second hotbar, that can be swapped at the touch of a button, it would only increase the inventory space by 25%, but allow people to have one hotbar for travelling, and another for combat or building or whatever. it would also easily work alongside a larger inventory if need be.

In your accesory slots you could put: -an elytra so that it doesnt share its slot with the chestplate -a backpack that gives you additional inv slots (similarly to don't starve game) -a compas which wuld create a GUI that points you north/spawn/base -a spyglass to finally make it worth using (you could activate it with a button similar how to optifine works) -a map so you can have a minimap on screen -a totem of undying -a clock -all sorts of craftable or obtainable technical/magical accesories that could show you things like redstone power signals, light levels, slime chunks, coordinates and so much more things that we have to check through external sites or mods or the F3 screen

It would happen only once you begin to grow a villages wealth and population. The increased level of villages gives you better trade deals, and more types of villagers, but corresponds with harder and harder raids. The raids could trigger upon leveling up a village. Once a final level is reached, raids return to just being when you kill the pillager party banner holder. Overall, villages are the key to minecraft feeling lived in. If villager AI could be mastered and constantly engaging, it would combat the emptiness and loneliness of single player minecraft worlds. Give something beyond building for building's sake.

@AmartharDrakestone2 жыл бұрын
The glass breaking actually does seem intentional. It seems that it's to prevent you from losing the blocks. Glass needs silk touch to pick it up again and if you confuse your picks, with the current speed, you at most will lose one block before you notice that you don't have the right one. If it could be insta-mined, you would lose a lot more before noticing. And glass is a PITA to get.

I completely agree with the backpack idea. However, instead of unlocking slots as you progress, you could be able to craft bigger backpacks with the loot of bosses, and also rare items which can prove your dedication to unlocking new slots. The backpack could, instead, have an inventory to the right of the main inventory and may not have very many spaces at first, however as you craft bigger ones, the space greatly increases.

I dont agree, but the only reason is that items are tradeable. So new players can just get a full inventory in no time. Unlocking them with runes that you cannot pick up is more elegant. The new player also experiences the content to unlock them. instead of simply getting the item handed to them.

I'm in the inventory section now, and if it wasn't mentioned,, I would like a separate area just for ammunition just like in Terraria. Also, in regards to backpacks, I have wanted them for so long. I have always hated that we can only get shulkers when we beat the game. One of the most frustrating feelings in the world is thinking about how much it would have made a difference in our lives to be able to have a backpack. And if they are worried about it not being balanced enough, they can make it so you can only use one at a time, and have it replace armor like an elytra does, and it could double the inventory size. Also, I'd like it if the stuff in our shulkers in our inventory could auto pick up things we are getting. Like, if we are strip mining and we have some for shunting off cobble and stuff into other shulkers, that would be awesome. How about an idea for something in our inventory that we can put one item into and it tells the game to throw away that one item whenever you pick it up automatically? Like an inventory trash can. I dunno. I just think about this a lot.
@propheinx2250 Жыл бұрын
They should just add a back slot to equipment and add some extra items to fight for the slot. Obviously elytra would still be a top contender for the slot, but a backpack and a quiver could be decent choices depending on circumstances. Backpack is obvious, it turns your personal inventory space to the equivalent of a double chest, instead of just a single chest worth of space. A quiver could both offer a free spot for a stack of arrows, and make you draw a bow a little faster. Another option could be a redstone pack that would cause you to radiate light while in dark places. Or even a parachute for a get of jail free card when you accidentally fell off a cliff not paying attention to your surroundings. Imagine a creeper cloak that would make creepers completely ignore you if you crouch while wearing it. Back equipment should be its own slot, and there's many things that could even challenge the elytra for the slot.
@buddy1397 Жыл бұрын
If they do add backpacks make it so that you can put it in your inventory but to access the things inside you have to put it on and if on when you open your inventory it looks similar to when you open a chest also they should allow you to merge the elytra and armor together by crafting a elytra chest plate which would be 2 elytra 1 diamond or nethrtite chest plate and 3 ender crystals

I think Terraria deals with villagers preety well. In it, you have to make housings for npcs to move then you can sell or buy items. You have to keep in mind their preferred biomes, their relationship, not making everything cramp etc. So that you have the best deals. You also have to move them into certain biomes to get certain items. Alongside that, certain things can only be unlocked after completing certain goals like killing bosses. So if mojang wants to fix villages, they can make so that the player has to make specific shops and structures around villagers for them to work, make so that you should not keep them cramped and you can't just cure them into Oblivion. Making certain trades biome specific can also be good. The problem with 1.20.2 rework is that no matter how far you are into the game, you can never get max level enchants from the villagers, which is preety annoying. They can do that if you do certain things, like completing certain things like how did we get here, they start to sell max level enchants. This update also doesn't fix any other issue.

I'm torn on whether it should be available in other forms. I feel like if it were to be added, it would massively incentivise exploration, but more in a "I spent three hours with chunkbase looting every temple within 2000 blocks" way than a "oooh, I found a fun prize!" way. Then again, if it's a tradable, it'll be farmed. Maybe much like Soul Speed, Piglin trading? That way there's an adventure aspect to getting it, since the Nether is still at least a little danergous (not fixing that typo, it makes me laugh) and quite unpredictable, but not a massive hassle to get if you want to get it in bulk. It's still random, but you can increase output. You'll get ten stacks of blackstone, but you will, eventually, get Deep pockets. If you can only find it in chests, it'll end up becoming frustrating to replace. If in a 1000m2 area, there's one book with Deep Pockets on average, imagine running a server with any number of people. Conversely, if it's more common, on single player it will feel almost too common. It gives another valuable purchase for gold, and gold is an underutilised part of the tech tree in Minecraft imo.

If you have a chest within a certain range of a crafting table you should be able to use the items from that chest without having those items in your inventory. It's a small change but it helps alot. 18:06 I’ve always wanted rope ladders in Minecraft. They’d function similarly to ropes in Terraria and would basically serve as a ladder block that doesn’t always need a wall behind it. You could place as many rope ladders on the top block as needed for it to reach the bottom (like reverse scaffolding) and would not break so long as the highest rope ladder block is attached to a wall (like vines). The crafting recipe could be something like 6 string on both sides of the crafting grid with sticks filling the middle. There are so many features like this that the community’s been begging for, and I wish Mojang would just cut loose and add some (though it is smart to be cautious).

In regards to the villages, I’d like to raise the oft mentioned point that players will always find the optimal way to play the game, so it’s up to the designers and developers to make sure that way is fun.
@haldalas2 жыл бұрын
That’s a very good point. Maybe villages could come with a market where they will automatically line up during “business hours” for trades? And you could add new workstations etc for new ones to use when they grew up. That way you at least wouldn’t have to make your own hall, and you’d be incentivized to protect the original village so they could self organize for you.
@angelch81532 жыл бұрын
I would at least like to see an "out of stock" mechanic for some items, where they can't trade you for endless emeralds if you don't give them any, they can't give you arrows if you don't provide them with sticks and the sort, and they can't give you enchanted books if they don't have access to an enchanting table, etc. it would be a lot more challenging to get infinite blocks if you think of it that way. maybe as the villager "levels up", not only they get more trades but also they use the resources you give them way better, making it a long-time investment, where at the beginning you have to provide way more to get less than a regular player could, but at their highest level, they'd be able to give you more items per material they receive. but that could also be made easier by allowing the villagers to trade with eachother and provide materials for eachother

I just think too many new armor enchants get added to the boots and helmet as of now.
@WhimsicottFanatic2 жыл бұрын
The funny thing is Swift Sneak was originally for boots, and everyone went "Hey do boots really need _another_ Enchantment? Why not put it on leggings instead, that still makes sense, if not moreso" and thankfully, Mojang listened to that one Really, I kinda get chestplates not having many Enchantments, since for a lot of players those get completely obsolete once the Elytra come into play, but leggings have no replacement so it's weird they kinda get shafted when it comes to Enchantments, especially when some of the boot ones would probably still work on leggings, like maybe Depth Strider

@@palmberry5576 If I had to imagine, Pockets would give extra slots (to give an example, Pockets / Pocketing 3 would give 5 slots of inventory). So it on all armor would give 20 extra inventory. If you remove the piece and escape the inventory, the extra items would fall onto the floor like inventory overflow. Now as for what was said of "Elytra or Inventory", I think they'd want the enchant to not be appliable to Elytra. So then people would have to make a choice. ...though if I had to choose a mutually exclusive thing for it, I would've gone 'can't put pocketing and mending' on the same piece. That way, people would have to choose longevity or convenience.

I was thinking about this as well, but I dont think it would be very Minecrafty. A problem with phantoms only spawning in the end, at end cities is that a lot of people, especially in hardcore, use phantom membranes for slow falling potions to prepare for the dragon fight. Them only spawning in the end would make them pretty useless since I think the dragon fight is the only really important occasion for slow falling. Maybe they could have "nests" of sorts in the overworld and will pursue players who haven't slept for three days IF the player is within render distance of such a nest. These nests could be on tall trees or mountains and depending on size spawn 2 to 5 phantoms. Phantoms could potentially be kept from spawning in the nests by either spawn proofing them or maybe despositing cats or frogs there, as cats sometimes bring you phantom membranes and frogs could eat them. I personally don't have anything against phantoms and how they spawn right now, but I understand why some people might want to change their spawning.

Glass being a slower to break block is actually a very smart design decision despite it being counter to real world logic. Specifically because Glass is an item that can only really exist in minecraft by the player's own hand, meaning its placement is often very purposeful. If it could break too easily then it would be too easy to accidentally break your own builds, or for people to grief *your* glass builds. But by making it consistently slow to break, they make the act of breaking glass just as purposeful as placing it, giving you time to catch yourself before you screw up with a piece of your build, or catch someone else trying to grief by hand.

you need phantom membranes for potions of slow falling, though, which are handiest when fighting the ender dragon (and navigating end cities). so I think it would be too late in the game to have phantoms only in end cities.

The whole inventory thing I'm so on board with, especially with the unlockable inventory slots! The deep dark update was really odd to me because I think "why would I ever wanna go there". But this would make me eager to explore! Except for you suggesting we change the 64 item stacks, how dare you.
@Direblade112 жыл бұрын
Nah, item stacks should be increased, or at least dank:nulled by using things like the pouches. It's a bit ridiculous to have so much clutter when doing anything. A 4×4×4 block of stone is a stack.

I think villagers should have a "happiness" stat, that can be beneficial to the player if its higher For the pvp thing we could have new weapons that have special effects, like how war hammers in medieval times was used against heavily armored opponents in order to break through the armor, in minecraft this could be an armor piercing effect where some of its damage ignores armor

The inventory issues seem very similar to traffic in the sense that "just adding more slots" will just make the problem bigger, add a few more slots just for them to fill up too and your left with the exact same problem but with more of it to deal with. I think an easy way to help with the inventory (on PC at least) would be to add a multi-select then add different filters between what is being selected.

Similar to what Terraria does. You could even use chain for the same effect but without the 'shoot it down' mechanic. On a similar vein, what if you could shoot the rope with your bow as a way to bridge across gaps

Make rope from vines and craft it with sticks. The length could be determined by how many pieces you have. Being able to shoot it down with an arrow sounds really cool

@@violetopal6264 that's a good idea and making it out of string would be a good enough debuff to counteract the ability to recover it (which is kinda the reason I said it should only be from the top of a cliff, honestly a better idea for only being able to place it certain spots would be having a hook block which you have to put in first and the rope ladder has to go on it although the hook can go anywhere on a wall not just the top)

I want to sincerely thank you for making this video. I've said a lot of these things for a very long time and even the most recent editions of instant mining Deepslate in the early 1.17 snapshots. I wish to see these things change. I know your pinned comment already touches on this, but water to build under isn't that bad. I think an easy fix for this would be to change scaffolding and have the ability to build downwards. For me, scaffolding is completely pointless. Well, I say completely... it's got a useful feature of being able to break down easily - I just don't like that you have to have it connected to the ground every 4 blocks, when dirt can be used to save that from being an issue. I use dirt over scaffolding still and probably always will until they change this. I just don't see much point the scaffolding being in its current state. It's unpractical in that regard when building bigger structures. To get up somewhere easily, it can be useful in its current state now but it really limits the possibilities for scaffolding as a tool. But yeah as of now using water to build under is the best way to do it currently; agreed that we need an alternative where we can remain stationary.

A year later, I've come back to this video. I think the villager concept is very good, and it reminds me of a mod I used to watch another youtuber play with when I was younger. I think it was called tales of kingdoms? And it was more medieval themed and focused around kingdoms, more so than villages. But the general concept around building a kingdom is very similar to the improved villages concept in this video!
