Here is my theory on the Moon and the Earthquakes: It's Boatem. They have been messing around with the void a lot, specifically, Impluse has been stacking up levels, then dying in the Boatem hole. Just in general, Boatem has been really reckless around the hole, even though they have proven that they could easily make an ender stasis chamber or something to prevent all those deaths. Also, it seems like they have been pulling the most attention to the increasing moon size. So, my guess is that the Boatem hole is somehow sucking the moon into the bedrock, which would explain the deeper Y levels coming in 1.18, and the additional explore-able terrain. The hermits are going to the moon!

The backstory of builds, the prank wars, even the giant moon, all of it is a form of lore for the server. That’s one of the many reasons I enjoy watching this series.
