Bonus Question: What is your guess of the worth of all gliders in the grid? My guess is 3.3 million Euros. Is this correct? Please JS tell me the answer? How much is yours worth?

most club class gliders are around 20k and standard class can go up to 150k usd

Is your glider OK? From your last video it looked like one of the gear doors (or both doors) were ripped off in the outlanding. Were you able to get that fixed in time for the next contest day?

Too bad about the cancellations. I guess that is because there is just not enough wind to allow the gliders to fly.

Haha, it is the most common misconceptions that you need wind to fly gliders. That is not true. We need THERMALS! This is warm air heated by the sun. It therefore less dense and lighter than surrounding, colder air. We stay in the bubbles or columns by flying narrow circles within. Therefore you see glider circling so much, and not just flying straight. If we did Tag we would land after short time and distance, and not after several hours and hundreds of kilometers.

Actually the previous days was due to lack of thermals, today actually due too *much* wind which blows the thermals apart, and is dangerous for ground handling of the planes.

@@kaihorstmann2783 of course you need wind for at least two types of lift - ridge and wave, of which longer distances have been flown than in thermals................... so yes you need wind to fly gliders in certain conditions.

@@soaruk3697 That is the complete answer, correct. But to fly at all you don‘t need wind. And in this area the landscape and the tasks are suitable for neither ridge nor wave soaring for this contest.

@@2niner77 if the glider doesnt pose any danger to others then its no problem. It is fairly easy to stick the camera out as the pilot needs only one hand anyways
