In this video i take a paper pattern for a 32 3 window roof insert, lay out the over all size, includiung an offset edge. Then go through my grid pattern layout, why i use it and how it helps me keep track of where i am and where i have been on the panel while shaping. I then go through the low crown shaping process on the power hammer using the grid patter, a buck and sweeps to get the panel dialed in.
Grid patterns on Low crown panels have helped me tremendously over the years. So I hope you find this information useful in your own shaping project.
Stay tuned for more videos like this and thanks for watching

Brilliant ! I wondered how to do a low crown . Now I know. Doing a low crown , I think is tougher than a lot of shape. Thank You for all of your videos ! P.S. your trailer will work . It'll be awesome.

Thanks for this, I also have trouble keeping my mind on point. The lines will really help. You mentioned in the video you said you could easily blend the crown to move the highest point of the crown. Is that more power hammering where you want to crown? Great video!
@cornfieldcustoms
@cornfieldcustoms Жыл бұрын
Yes, more hammering in an area will raise that area. So of you focus more it will move the high point of the crown

Really interesting Mike. I only have a wheel but I can see how the application of the grid would works similarly 👌
@cornfieldcustoms
@cornfieldcustoms Жыл бұрын
Even before i had a power hammer I would grid out the panels for wheel work. The grid works the same the shaping techniques just changes to fit the equipment your using. Due to radial stretch on a hammer vs linear on a wheel. Thanks for watching

Very interesting method. However in the speeded up sequence I can't work out how you travel around the grid lines with the power hammer. Marking the direction of travel on the panel with a Sharpie would help me.
@cornfieldcustoms
@cornfieldcustoms Жыл бұрын
direction of travel doesn't matter on a power hammer with radial stretch dies. as noted in the dialog sections of the video i work the grid from the inside out
