i dont do a bunch of body work but i aspire to actualy get into some custom fab work like you do. just this small video is super informative and has enlightened me to a tool and a process i had no idea existed and im sure it will allow me to put that fine touch on whatever project i need it for.

Thanks , I can honestly say I've never seen one of those before nor own one. In the past I probably would have fashioned a piece of hardwood like a caveman for a one time application.

It’s a great tool, I bought one a few years ago and use it weekly. I actually have to get another one for multiple profiles without changing out tooling.

Could you use UHMW plastic dies in a planishing hammer to save the patina on damaged body panels, or would they break, or shatter?
@cornfieldcustoms11 ай бұрын
Maybe, i have never done it
@samuelc75552 ай бұрын
It would also be great with a air hammer extension

metalman sweden had a great video on corking. i think it would be more useful to watch the business end closeup not the striking end. great demo tho. take care

Hey Mike, I'll definitely buy one of these. Having zero knowledge of machining (no lathe), how can I carve the UHMW? With a cutting wheel and grinder? Thanks again
@cornfieldcustoms Жыл бұрын
Any way you can. I usually use a band saw and grinder. It cut nice

Had to laugh when I saw the title. In 1981 I was working for a company in Houston and my manager was from Texas (I'm from north of the Mason / Dixon line in Indiana) and he wanted me to get a price for getting the windows "corked" (his pronunciation) in our building. Had no idea what he was wanting until it dawned on me that he meant "caulked" but his dialect came out "corked".
