@@futuremusic4900I never really got it, to who is this poem for? The rain makes me think it’s cathy but (spoilers) we see her die right in front of us on the first playthrough so is it from mark’s perspective in the second playthrough? The disappeared without a trace part makes me think it could be the mom, but that ending where he lost himself also confuses me a little and I can’t find anyone talking about this anywhere maybe it’s just me

I first fell in love with this piece when I was aged seventeen. At seventeen I didn't know much about Classical Music when I purchased a stack of twenty or more Vinyl LPs, each at a bargain price because the shop was closing down. It was an orchestral version of Wedding at Troldhagen but since then I have heard others and played the solo piano version. Despite the critical review from another listener here, it brought back memories when I was very young and new to Classical Music. Thank you Sir P Barton, I on the other enjoyed it.

@@lynxtyger9566 Hello Lynx Tyger Thank you for your reply. "Call me Francisco Antonio Laureana", I don't know what to say because I don't know what you are asking me. It's coincidental that you should write to me about Grieg's Wedding Day at Troldhaugen Op 65 #6, because yesterday I went through (played) several of his lyrical piano solos between Op 12 and Op71. I really wanted to play Op43 #1, Butterfly, which I did a few times. These were pieces I had not touched for a long time. If you like Grieg's Op 65 #6, there's a beautiful, short piece by Igor Stravinsky - TANGO (Publisher Schott ED 4917). The rhythm is obviously a TANGO but just as catchy as Wedding Day at Troldhaugen. It's a good encore piece. If you want to know anything more, let me know. I'd happily give my email address but not sure if that is allowed.

Not many pieces are so sweet and so sophisticated at the same time. And I think it may gain something by being done on solo piano vs. orchestra. A bit more intimate. My spouse and I celebrate our 43rd anniversary tomorrow and this goes with that. We both love it. And Barton, who I first learned about on KZbin from his interspecies entertainment efforts in Thailand.

Paul Barton is very generous that way. You could always download the score, if you like to play the piece. He also provides the link to the IMSLP database of scores. I am a member of IMSLP but not aufait with the method of downloading successfully. PB does tutorials with fingerings for some demanding, diploma-level pieces. It's worth a visit to his website, you'll enjoy it.

Any advice for playing staccato and with pedal simultaneously?
@bradxwx2 жыл бұрын
It's something I'm just starting to figure out. A lot of little things like this come with lots of time and practice just playing around with the pedal. I find lots of things come that way as you learn an instrument. You just kinda get to understand how it works over several years and lots of practice. But since 3 months has gone by and no one has attempted to answer your question, I'll try. For the notes that aren't staccato, hold them down with your fingers while releasing the pedal simultaneously as you release the staccato notes. Although I was thinking in some parts of this performance that the performer wasn't using the pedal at all
