The reason you're not seeing a difference between 200mbps and 50mbps is probably because it's variable bitrate. If you get something with some more motion (like some tree leaves) that would show it. That's my guess anyway.

Could not believe, I just found a retailer (in Austria), that actually has one GH4 unit in stock - had to order it right away and you Griffin are definitely one of the main impacts on this decision! Always liked the images you created with your GH cameras. Switching from Pentax K-7 to Panasonic GH4 will be a huge difference especially in movie mode. 4k = 6 times the 720p from my Pentax and finally manual video recording, etc. Although I never had a GH in my hand, I think I'm going to love it. Here in Europe not even Amazon has the GH4 listed yet, so I may be even one of the first Austrian owners of this beautiful piece of gear. Thanks Griffin Hammond for all your great work and tips! PS: Thinking about sharing my first impressions too and will be shooting a music video on the GH4 later this month. So excited! ;)

Apparently 24p and 23.98fps footage do not jive well in FCPX. I'm guessing that's why Final Cut messed me up so much trying to finish this video!

Have you considered going From FCPX to Adobe Premier.... Went to a UMaine hands on lecture... at their new IMRC media center... They have Apple Equipment the instructor said that many people migrating to Premier because Adobe is listening to users while Apple sees FCPX as a small segment of the Apple universe. What is your take. BTW, I love your video GH3/GH4.... I love the pacing... it's the right speed for me... one can always pause or go back. Great work.

Interesting the 24p Cinema mode is closer to the film format 1.85:1--- VistaVision. I always thought widescreen TVs should have been 1.85:1 as a standard. 16:9 is pretty good tho

Again, Great GH3/GH4 comparison.... AND ....Based on your Lumix Love, I got the FZ200 ...Love the big zoom 25-600mm (35mmEq)... Affordable.at a fraction of the price ($360.refurb). No extra lenses needed... It does 120fps slow mo 1280x720 and 240fps at 640x480....It does not do 24fps...and it can use the big zoom built in because its sensor is 1/2.3 vs the Standard Four/Thirds of The GH line.... I have already gotten some great video with this... Thanks for letting me rant,

Griffin Hammond Hi Griffin, my GH4 turned up, super happy with it, crisp results. Quick question, do you have an electrical smell coming from the cutouts for the built in mics? I did some research and it is something to do the manufacture process and some sort of coating that will dissipate with time. I was just curious if you had the same.

There is something to mention about the shipping versions: You can switch in every GH4 between NTSC and PAL but you will have the 30min border if you buy the GH4 in Europe. But if you buy the new GH4R which is not more expensive than the GH4 you can bypass the 30min border. In fact the normal GH4 gets cheaper by the release of the GH4R so it now only costs you about 1.100 - 1.200 € (body only) while the GH4R has the same price the GH4 had before which is 1.500 € (body only).

Oh yeah! You made Sriracha! That is right! Man I love that documentary. I have it on my Apple TV. The owner says one bottle lasts him six months, my bottle only lasts me 2 months! Haha, I think I am going to get the GH3. I don't really see much benefit in 4K, especially with my computer and work that I do. All I do is shoot aquarium videos and am currently using a Pentax K-01. Wouldn't you all agree that a GH3 would be a huge step up from the K-01 when it comes to video quality? Even though the GH4 has a lot of the same video features as the K-01, which the GH3 doesn't have like focus peaking, and other video features. I just want better HD quality and don't have the money for the GH4. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated, peace.

Thanks for all the advice-after watching your videos I decided to buy the GH3. It had been working great until a couple days ago when I went to use it and it wouldn't turn on. I thought it was a battery issue but after trying three different ones I decided it must be a different problem. Have you ever heard of this issue? The camera simply won't turn on, and it has been treated emaculately, never dropped, not even scratches.

That's weird. If I've ever had the GH3 or GH4 freeze up (rarely), I take the battery out, pop it back in, and it's back to normal. Do you have a different lens to try. I wonder if somehow that lens is communicating weird things to the camera. Or perhaps you have a defective unit.

I forgot-my GH3 did fail once. It completely stopped turning on while I was on a shoot, after just over two years of heavy use. I sent it to Panasonic, and I believe it was a known issue, so even though it was out of warranty, they fixed it for free. But even if they won't fix it for free, they'll diagnose it, and tell you how much the repair will cost.
