@mikefrost1312
@mikefrost1312 Жыл бұрын
You'd be surprised how often it goes EXACTLY like that lol. I used to train allot of dogs for other people & 95% of the time, that was the only real problem, the owner ! Too many people treat their dogs like a literal human child instead of treating it like a DOG & being a leader. If you won't be the leader, the dog will takeover. Or, people actually train their dog to NOT listen because they just blabber commands 100x & then still don't follow up & make the dog listen when it ignores them. So the dog learns it can just do whatever it wants without any consequences.. And if you have a strong willed, powerful, stubborn working breed, that's a disaster waiting to happen..

Absolutely agree. I learned so much from this video. To see how he is communicating with the dog nonverbally is so important. 99.9 % of humans do not know about this. Many people get a puppy and raise them from scratch so they have this authority with the dog naturally and then they are so mean and judgemental to dog owners who have resued or adopted a dog that did not have the benefit of that early life. I wish they were more empathetic.

That's what I've been trying to get through to my friend. You're not forcing the dog to do things. But you are the one in charge. Firm but with love. Just like a child. Thankfully his isn't that bad & is also elderly with back/back leg issues. It's more of a philosophical discussion on how you're supposed to behave as the so called alpha versus what he thinks the being alpha means. I think he was around too many people who had no clue what they were doing & just forced an animal to behave a certain way. Where in reality you have to communicate but make it clear what you want. Because even my dog that was half cat wanted to work with me & not against me. I can't say I'm that good at it since I just don't have the patience or more accurately between physical limitations, fibromyalgia sucks, & my lack of perseverance I'm not that good at dog training. It's why I thought hard about if Charlie my niece & nephew's wheaten terrier would fit with me. I wanted it to be right for him too. It's also why I didn't also take Jacque the large pure blood poodle. It wouldn't have been fair to him. It's also part of why I now only have cats since I live in an apartment & can't easily get up to walk in the mornings for a potty break. Still love the big dogs & would love to dog sit for more than just my friend. But it wouldn't be fair to the dog to have one all the time. Plus I already have 2 1/2 cats. I share the third with my friend. Which is fine since I steal his dog to spoil too 😉 & he was once his cat years ago. Maybe one day I'll actually get another little dog that can use a potty patch if needed. But I kind of doubt it.

I truly can’t believe the number of aggressive, large, and out of control dogs you see that show up with buckled flat collars or harnesses as the only connection to the leash and the owner. Basically, those owners just function as “freight” for those dogs to drag around as they want, making the dog the alpha in that relationship. Since I was a 12 year old kid at the other end of the leash from a beautiful 65 pound female purebred German Shepherd ,we always treated that sliding “choke chain” as a way to send a message to the dog of our intentions with a short tug. It was never used or treated as a restraint because such was not necessary because the dog was well trained through methods very similar to what you use, not through some psychological “theory”. Ten years later I learned of the effectiveness and actual kindness of a prong collar with a friend’s huge male Alaskan Malemute with the double coat at his neck almost 2 inches thick. As you state, it was needed and used to communicate and since this is the largest of the sled dog breeds it prevented him from choking out at early training stages. Keep doing what you are doing because as you prove in every video it works, and ignore those theoretical behaviorists that would wait for their dogs to finally do something right and then rewarding them. Ridiculous.

The calmness, he consistently shows. There is no judgement of the dog. I can see how clearly that the maladaptive behaviors that we judge dogs on are simply things they have learned that work for them. If you give into a 2 year old child every time they have a tantrum in store because you do don't buy what they want or give into them of course they will continue. I think many narcissists start out this way. If lying, scheming or physical domination work to get you what you want, why not continue? What blows my mind is how quickly they can learn a new behavior. The trick is making sure the owner doesn't relapse to the old behaviors. There are bigger lessons than the wonderful dog training he does. Never looses his temper, never judges, it's just a behavior that needs to be changed so he creates a situation where that behavior doesn't work anymore. We humans could learn a lot about correcting abhorrence human behavior by his brilliant techniques. My dogs were my life, and I could have done so much better if I had understood some of these basic tools.

It’s also establishing trust and consistency. She can begin to trust the stranger her mom introduces to her to will bring her back eventually (and the stakes will be much lower each time she meets someone new) and she only is going to be corrected when she acts inappropriately. As long as the rules are fair and consistent she’s going to have a lot less anxiety and a lot more faith in her owner.

Very impressed, I'll have to remember this the next time I get a dog 😊 it's all about respect and boundaries, and enjoying each other's company. When the dog understands what is expected of them it is easier for them to process new things and their environment. I love how big of a difference there was from the beginning of the video to the end🙏❤️

Man you're the trainer of the decade :D you are not doing anything special than very common training but the way you talk and think at the same time and the "energy" you have around you makes people understand what they have to do and animas to understand your intentions easily. I watch your video to study their behaviours in certain situations ( you're the only one on KZbin taking dogs in front of their problems and showing it to the world ) but I've noticed your behaving around dogs is to be studied too. Cheers from Italy, keep up the treat job. I would love to see you working live ❤.

BEAUTIFUL, it's really lovely to see the calmer manner be brought out, i get the impression when a dog's attention is all over the place from all the stimulation sights and sounds, they're not as relaxed and their behaviour becomes difficult, helping them focus and learn they can be at ease around lots of activity is a Godsend.

Thanks for showing a bit longer content on the beginning of correction to how to reinforce and maintain the correction and communication you have begun to establish with the leash. The fact you showed not only the pressure to instruct but the release of pressure when she acts correctly provides the that missing piece for me. I love watching your videos. You do so much for the dog and the owner of the aggressive dogs. These videos have helped me see how to correct some of my bad behaviors that have created some irritating habits I have allowed my pup to acquire. Hopefully I can get that corrected so some of her anxiety type behaviors will stop. Thanks again!

I am from Europe and I DO NOT BELIEVE there are bad dogs, just BAD OWNERS! Sorry to say and although I do not agree with all Dog Daddy's methods (prong collars) he is great with his training and empathy, dogs: a) need a leader. b) need direction. c) need love. If you can gather all 3 then you will win overall. Thank you DD RESPECT!! 🐶🐶🙏🙏🤗🤗💙💙

release as soon as the command has been executed! that is the difference between a prong collar working correctly and an abusive prong collar. Hate seeing folks with a lunging dog on a prong collar being used as a flat collar. great vid, poor nervous shepherd :( Hope they are doing better. the owner seemed so timid.

Most of us aren't aware of tension and until we realize that it is what we transmit to the dog it controls us and confuses the dog. Works with people too. It is one of the things in the martial arts that the instructor has to make one aware of constantly. They call it leading the mind and for a dog it is something they respond to and are waiting for.

IT's incredible ... the majority of the time when dogs misbehave ...it's not the dogs ...its the owners fault ...when you own a dog you have to put in the time and train them, lead them, you have to be the Alpha/ the leader, give them direction ... too many dogs get spoilt and take that leadership role ... being calm and rewarding good behaviour is so important ... your dog picks up so much by your reaction and your body language ... great video ... i know quite a bit about dogs, and yet i learn so much by watching others train a dog ...
