Being a geometry dash veteran, following this series is really interesting! A few things I want to mention are that there are actually 4 jump pads in the game (yellow, pink, blue and orange), with a fifth purple one being added in the next update. As for the jump orbs, a little known fact is that it's possible to hit them 1 frame after traveling outside their hitbox making for some "impossible" looking timings such as in the level Oblivion by Benji & More.

Hi! Nice to see your geometry dash in Scratch is going well! As a geometry dash player myself, I want to suggest some changes. Firstly, the ship game mode does not have buffer, it just goes up when holding. Secondly, the orb should be able to be activated when it touches the ring, not the middle (this might be hard to make because of Scratch's screen resolution). And lastly, try adding a black to invisible gradient in the blocks. Thanks for the tutorial! Edit: Holding before a jump ring and then jumping right after is CORRECT in the original game. Please change it back.

THIS WAS JUST WHAT I NEEDED! so i was making a fighting game, theres this one character that can knuckleboom (sq from decaying winter) and i had an issue that you could just hold the button down, and it would auto knuckleboom! luckily your great vids helped me, and i can even make moves you have to hold down which is super useful!

Hi Griffpatch. I just wanted to mention that in the original Geometry Dash it doesn't reset your velocity when you go through a ship portal. I noticed this is a problem when I had a jump pad under a ship portal and it feels weird just losing all momentum when I go through the portal. So just take out the "set speed y to 0" after checking for the ship portal.

in geometry dash, you're actually able to buffer for an infinite amount of time. Just as long as you hold the jump button while you're in the air, the next orb you touch will be activated. Of course it won't really matter in this version where there isn't much complicated y movement but it could surprise some people who are super used to geometry dash physics.

This is a great tutorial, but there are a few problems: 1. When you respawn you might not be able to jump anymore. This is because in the stage it stops other scripts when it receives game over. One way to fix this is to make the jump key scripts into a custom block and use that custom block when the green flag is clicked and after it stops all scripts. 2. You might not jump while on a jump pad. This is because when the Check Transporters block checks the current costume is still the hitbox spike costume. You can easily fix this by removing the switch costume to hitbox spike block and putting it after all the checks in the check transporters block. You may or may not have these problems, but I recommend that you still change the scripts.

bro is making a tutorial on how to be better than his own geometry dash game he made a while ago - may not look like it, but he has already made it better with stuff like buffers. One thing I would appreciate is if you changed the detection in some way, cuz I wanna be able to change the background and ground color but it interferes with the color detection. Not sure how you would do that, but it would be very nice :)

I was thinking maybe you can use the timer feature, like if you stop jumping the timer will reset. It will use a variable that copies the timer. so the way it detects is if the timer variable is more than 0.1 it wont be able to jump

I made a scuffed geometry dash in another engine. So this is so cool. And I think I have a idea on how Griffpatch may code the gravity portals. Just change gravity * by gravity mode. Which you can set to either -1 or 1 which makes it reverse. I think there was some differences in my code but that’s basically it.

Honestly, your choice of checking if JUMP KEY < 100 isn't the best way to do it. If there's a long fall to an orb, i believe the orb wouldn't work. A better way would probably be to have a variable of "JUMPED" that keeps whether or not the player jumped and resetting it when pressing the jump button.
