Is he Russian or just affiliated with Moscow State University as academia says? I'm just curious, it's interesting to follow someone's language habits when speaking another language and it's not any offence at all.

His name and his accent are definitely Russian (I'm a native Russian speaker).

He is Russian. Educated in the UK (judging by the adopted pronunciation), probably took his English Master's in the UK. He speaks a flawless UK English, with a very slight Russian accent - his "t", "d" and "th" and some other sounds are those of a native Russian language speaker.

How do sign languages fit in? Those are languages like any other. Just a different medium. There has been research proving that the same part of the brain that is active when hearing people hear speech is active when people who know sign language see sign language. So speech is not special, language is. Or so I thought.
