Thanks for the video . I almost bought this and you proved what I was thinking , which a it’s very basic for cleaning . I don’t see the worth of it when you can just clean with Brillo of a regular cleaning pad just the same or actually much better .

Omg your grill is clean to start. Want to see this on a crusty black grill grate. I agree with other commenter. Show us how it cleans a really dirty grate.

Try a copper scour pad dipped in olive oil on a warm grate. Use tongs if super hot or wear leather gloves. I had really crusted iron grates on my BGE and the results were fantastic. Trying on steel grate next.

Well I like anyone who has a RecTec pellet smoker! However, pellet grill produce a fairly moist environment and mostly dust rather than real grime because you are usually at a low temp. So I am not really sure if this is a great test for this brush.

How do you even clean the Rescue Brush for next time? That seems impossible.

I agree. It's a mess. I don't use mine any more, I think I actually threw it away.

While it's marketed as an all-in-one solution, I've found it much better as a finishing touch of sorts. The way you use this thing is as follows: Post-cook: High heat for five to ten minutes to carbonize anything left on the grates. Let cool. Brush with wire or non wire brush to get the bulk of the material off. Leave it until you're ready to cook again unless you are neurotic and can't wait. You'll just be adding another step. At the next cook, fire up grill and get it to 400. THEN use the grill rescue to steam scrub the grates and remove any small carbon/any wire bits. Do another pass with the head completely soaked and pretty much everything you want gone will fall into the grease catch with the water. Let the grill run for a few minutes before applying food so the grates heat all the way back up. Grill. Hope this helps.

Good advice! I'll give this workflow a try... I've gone back to the metal grill brush, but I like the idea of using Grill Rescue more as a "finishing touch" tool.

Great video, I have the Recteq RT-1250. I have to say you are way more OCD about your grates than I am lol. I actually liked how clean that brush left your grates! That would have been good enough for me lol. I am curious about your chemical & bag method though. Do you have a video coming up about that?

I actually did a video about it awhile back, it's my favorite method when the grates get super dirty. Here's the link, let me know what you think if you try it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKLJpIaGptVnors

I used to clean it pretty thoroughly after almost every cook... I've found that's not as important, so I clean less often now.

I mean dude you can’t compare a regular old brush to deep scrub with a scouring pad. I have one of these and it’s great for a pre cook clean

I agree. The brushes are really in different categories. I didn't know that until doing this test and comparison, however.

This is late, but I use oven cleaner spray all over grates. Then place in black plastic bag & set out in sun for several hours or over night. Wash with soap & water. This works for a very dirty grate. Can re-use plastic bag several times. Wear gloves & spray downwind.

Sounds good, and more affordable than my Amazon solution and bag option.

@@bkent99 Cool! I am planning on actually offering a “Brisket 101” clinic sometime soon, it’s so hot. I may delay till later in the fall, but I will definitely post about it here and if you’re interested and can come, that would be great!

Just like the commercial. Wiping this on an already clean grill. What a worthless review.
