This was the right topic to bring JR into the family of Conrad's podcasts. Everything that Conrad touches turns to gold. It was crazy that WCW lasted until 2001. I mean, nobody in the WCW offices knew their butts from their hole in the head. I cant believe Eric wanted JR out cause he wanted the spotlight on him. I guess Eric was sick and tired of being the 'host' with Missy Hyatt that welcomed us to every WCW show. Wrestlemania 9 was a memborable mania for JR to debut in. The toga party. At that time, WWF was shifting into the new generation cause Vince wanted Randy Savage on Commentary full time even though Randy could still wrestle.

I really enjoyed Big Van Vader in WCW. He had the unbeatable monster bully heel thing going on like Andre, KK Bundy, Bubba Ray Dudley etc etc... But vader's bully persona in the ring, is what got him in trouble backstage with Paul Orndorff, he got his jaw jacked and then got fired on top of that by Bischoff. I didn't care for his run in WWE. I didn't feel he was utilized properly. But I thought Vader in Japan and Vader in WCW (92-95??) was rock solid

I remember when this happened, and I was pissed. I realize I'm in the minority, but I loved WCW/NWA back then especially before Hogan & Savage. You'll probably never hear anyone else say this, but I think the Jim Herd years (89-91) were possibly my fav, although I didn't like him running off Flair & Cornette. Or his stupid tag team called The DingDongs. I enjoyed The Kip Frey and Bill Watts time period too. In Eric Bischoff's shoot interviews, he talks about WCW looking low budget, like a southern territory/promotion. But that's exactly what I loved about it. It was totally opposite of the WWF. Now don't get me wrong, I didn't totally hate Eric being the boss. What Eric did was incredible. (With the 83 week streak plus nWo) but after 93/94, it seemed like the old school WCW was gone and wrestling had become WWF and then an Atlanta version of WWF 2.0 or WWF lite. One thing I hated was the commentary when Jim Ross departed. Im kinda weird/strange about how I view the commentary pairings, but as individuals, I like all of them. But my least fav was Tony Schiavone paired with Heenan. Liked Heenan (hilarious) paired with Monsoon. Liked Tony paired with Jim Ross , or even Jesse. But just didn't like Tony & Brain together. After Heenan, plus if you add Mean Gene to the mix, then Hogan & Jimmy Hart.... then Savage...Duggan...Earthquake. well you get the picture. The WCW I loved was unrecognizable by that point.
