I was at that show in Wichita in 2001, at the Kansas Coliseum. Imagine this, the talents featured on the show that night were, Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker, Vince McMahon, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Kane, Big Show, Trish Stratus, Lita, The Hardyz, Edge, Christian, and Rob Van Dam. A different time, indeed.

That's awesome. Went to a Raw in 2003 and got to see Austin, Rock, Goldberg. It was good but definitely not 2001 good as Austin and Rock were part timing it and they were burying Goldberg against midcard Jericho....went to a Smackdown in 2006 and the roster was almost unrecognizable. Got to see Benoit in a Velocity match which was great. Meanwhile Lashely and Finlay put everybody to sleep in the main event. Horrible.

Interesting to hear these shows cause I stopped watching professional wrestling, will not say sports entertainment, when ECW closed. Started watching again when Mr Perfect, Scott hall and Lesnar came in 2002. It seems in 01 they didn't know what to do with Austin with his constant turns and character change

I was at that show in San Diego. Great atmosphere at the Sports Arena and it was a big shock when Jericho won the undisputed title. Also, big pop when Taker choked RVD with the Mexican flag from me and the rest of the Mexicans there 😂

Jericho becoming undisputed champion was one of the reasons i lost interest in WWF at the time. He just wasn't a convincing champion to me. He wasn't ready and still seemed like a mid-carder to me. Just didn't work for me. Add to that triple h being a boring baby face and the nwo stuff....2002 took a while to get going

when i watch retro PPVs it's going like this: 2001: Royal Rumble - Invasion and right after it 2002: King of the Ring - Survivor Series Like inbetween WWF didn't exist...so many mistakes were done.

He was ready, but should have won clean over BOTH austin and Rock. A solid rumble defense against both or angle would cement it, I think he should have dropped it at no way out to austin and faced rvd at wm 18.

Agreed 100%. Putting the title on little Jericho and booking Triple H like God is what drove the remaining casual fans away in 2002. Killed the business dead and they never recovered.
