There are some casts that just deserve a fish and that was one of them , well done Steve and Cammy brilliant .

Couldn’t agree more Pete, Shirley can certainly throw a line, took a lot of practice and analysis with Steve but they really helped each other get to where they are now. Top team 🙏❤️👍🏻

Well done Shirley! Helluva snake cast, if I may say...Cameron, I note that there seems to be a preponderance of grilse in your vids...we have noticed in New Brunswick a lot of grilse and small (8 lbs size) salmon being caught on our beat of Larry's Gulch...it has been a slow year...are you seeing the same? Mike
@CameronChapman Жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, it’s definitely been a slow year. Super high temperatures in June, set the tone for our season. Our grilse have been well proportioned, here is a link to our District fishery Board facebook page. By coincidence, it’s Shirley’s husband Steve who was the captor of the cracking grilse!! m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid0WgbVdDxzpmnjBuHHFdbx1N7XGQord64BoJ2NY42iotTithNmTyCVmkKEAwGpW6Bfl&id=100064372761923 We’ve had some lovely big spring fish and summer fish but overall numbers are slightly down on the 5 year average. If the temperature drops the fish may switch on and we may end up closer to our 5 year average. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Is this a switch rod or just a spey? I’ve got a switch recently and noticed the weight is a lot more but the casting power I can put in is ridiculous
@CameronChapman Жыл бұрын
Hi Fraser, the rod in use is a Loop Grey Line, which is an ‘old skool’ Spey rod, medium action and very powerful. What switch rod and line combination are you using?

@@CameronChapman hi mate. Shakespeare Oracle 11ft 7/8 weight with an 8 weight fast sink when using lures. Can easily cast 20+ meters now where I was struggling 10 before hand. Never really fished many rivers than my local one ( river almond ) it’s very over grown on the banks through so don’t need to worry about my cast distance there 😂 great videos mate

@@fraserreid719 The Oracle is a fantastic piece of kit, we see them in many lengths and line ratings, great performers and great value for money. I hope you create lots of happy fishing memories with your Oracle, have you had any salmon or sea trout from the Almond? Many thanks for your kind comments, I really appreciate them.
@fraserreid719 Жыл бұрын
@@CameronChapman I’ve personally not had any salmon but there is a salmon weir around 1 mile from where I stay that you can see many swimming up stream after heavy rains. Loads of salmon, sea trout and reported pike but I’ve never saw any
@CameronChapman Жыл бұрын
@@fraserreid719 if you get a hold of a salmon with that Oracle of yours, you’ll find out what it’s capable of. Tight lines 🎣🎣🎣
