Following your guide, thanks for throwing it together. I'm coming from your "Top 10 BROKEN Beginner Builds for Grim Dawn 1.2 [HC VIABLE]" video you put up last week. I noticed '-1.5 second skill recharge to Judgement' (@14:35 ) from the shield has, in-game has been updated to only '-0.5 second'. 1 second doesn't sound like much, but is it enough to change up the build? I'm still getting used to the build (around lvl 43 at the moment) and trying to work out the skill rotation to use. I know it takes time, but have you considered updating your guides to match the current 1.2 build? Curious if introduced changes that would nerf/buff builds. Keep up the great work, I'll continue to check out your videos for guides on Grim Dawn builds.

Amazing guide for a new player and the class works great! Instead of going with endurance relic at 20:55 you can also go with conflagration if you have the materials. Gives you a busted filler skill aside from nice stats. That way you can also refund points from flames of ignaffar or EoR since you won't really need them.

There is Scarab Shell that drops off the regular mobs, and Scarab Carapace that drops off harder ones (in the cave it seems) - Carapace has the bonus to Censure, i just went to that area on my first go, went in that cave and got 4 of the scarab carapace shields so they should drop fairly easily for anyone farming them.

What a kickass build man! Thanks! As a new player, I did all story content from normal to ultimate and only died like 2 or 3 times. I made it to lvl 94 and did my first SR. Coming from D3, SR seems like I'm too slow and not meeting the timer fast enough guess I need better gear and practice.

Dear Mr Rektbyprotoss (wall of text warning) First of all I would like to express my sincere condolences for being rekt by the aforementioned Starcraft species. More to the point though, I wanted to inquire you on the quite deep and complex matters of Grim Dawn. A friend and I have been investing quite a bit of time playing GD (a bit more than 200 hours in the past month) we are really enjoying since it reminds us of the good old D2 LoD days. Now coming from a background of approximately 2500 as a support monk in D3 I really enjoy having more supporting/tactical role in this kind of games. This build is the closest to that monk thing i have seen so far and I realized that it would be a nice fit to combine with my friends next char (trozan druid) because of the flexibility of AoC RR. That said I would like to find ways to improve the synergistic relationship between our classes and i come to you for advice on the matter. With regards, Malefistus.

Hey thank you for your wall of text, I enjoyed the read! Sorry for not walling you back quite as much. This Pala is pretty good for multiplayer I'd say, but I can also always recommend the Deceiver class as a support for multiplayer. Occultist's curse of fraily or "curse of debuff everything" and blood of dreeg combined with Inquisitor's Word of Renewval, Inquisitor's Seal and Aura of Censure are insane for multiplayer.

Was curious about other damage equivalents so took a look on grimtools. Saw a few items with cold or poison type auras but nothing comes close to aura of censures and heart of wrath in terms of radius and getting skills and items early to mid game.

Yea early to mid game, you don't reall have many options gearwise other than the ones that improve your existing auras, but you don't really need more dmg while leveling anyway. Endgame you will have plenty of options for addtional auras.

The shield's CDR to judgment got nerfed a bit, but otherwise the build is still perfectly viable to get you to endgame. For the actual endgame, you should probably respec into a slightly different though.

So I landed on Malagant's aura build first, and im inquis vs oathkeeper. Any way you could think about this approach (if you havent already we theorycrafting your build) and toss together a grimtools for it? Asking a lot I know.. just dont want to relevel if I dont have to. tyvvm --- I also want to applaud you for your detail over the devotions and general game guide being beginner friendly!! First of all thank you for watching and your kind feedback! Glad you enjoy the content! These kind of videos are quite a bit more time consuming compared to just talking about a build in one recording session :D About your questions: "inquis vs oathkeeper" uhhh pretty sure mala played a Purifier (Inquis+Demo), while I played a Paladin (Inquis+Oathkeeper), so it should be "Demo vs Oathkeeper". Anyway as a purifier you can start out the same way with Word of Pain (or also Demo's Blackwater Cocktail) and then respec to Aura of Censure once you have the scarab shield. Purifier version basically uses Blackwater Cocktail and Vinditive Flame instead of Judgment/Heart of Wrath, so make sure to max out those next after Aura of Censure. After that focus on defenses (blast shield instead of ascension) and get thermite mines instead of guardians for RR. For gear look for auras, +skills to your aura abilities and resistances. Hope this helps!

Act 7 is Forgotten Gods, it's in the bottom right of the world map. You can get there via the green portal from the emissary that appears in Devil's Crossing after defeating Warden Krieg.

Paladin in general is a S tier class at the moment. Auradin is great for leveling, but falls off in endgame. You can easily transition into any other fire Paladin that you can find on the forums.

What are your thoughts on an Infiltrator aura build? Censure plus Veil w/Night's Chill plus items for primarily fire with secondary cold aura damage. I made one, and it is hilariously lazy and easy and imo quite fun. Veil with Night's Chill means your aura damage starts much earlier, and once that happens the whole game was basically run through everything, only stopping to loot and deal with heroes/bosses that don't die immediately. At 100 I was facerolling ultimate, Lokarr was easy (though not quick, but I was able to face tank him and didn't need to do much other than occasionally refresh my temporary buffs), SR60-61 is hilariously easy (65+ boss rooms take a bit of luck, as a bad collection of bosses, especially if they have the Leeching mutator, can be rough... was doing one with leeching but was on autopilot watching youtube at the same time, looked back after a few minutes and we were deadlocked in an eternal battle of me healing through everything and the boss that could hit hard enough to be able to leech/heal my aura damage, even with only being able to hit me 60-70% of the time). Trash sometimes takes a few ticks to die but they still pose no real threat regardless of how many swarm you (SR fake treasure room opening all chests to spawn everything at once for example) as everything gets hit at once and I am stupid tanky. I was also able to do gladiator crucible 150 with the extra spawn point with no difficulty (once I got hit hard enough to go under 50% health, rest of the time was a cake-walk). I stopped after 150 because I was only doing it for the achievement. ^_^;; Though tbf, I did make it with defense as a priority, and ended up tankier than my warlord retaliation tank. As such my OA is a bit low, but I still crit on trash and heroes easily, just bosses don't get crit unless they have adds to proc OA boosting abilities. But still, don't actually have to actively attack at all, just stand there and they (eventually) die. Some super bosses may need to be kited instead of face tanked, but I haven't fought them all with this character yet. This is what I made: www.grimtools.com/calc/a2E00zPN The Elemental Harmony blue ring set is fun and I think a bit more DPS than dual Reign of Fire and Ice, but the extra life steal they give is too nice to ignore.

Infiltrator certainly picks up speed earlier than Paladin as you said, because of the earlier access to Night's Chill. It's kinda hard to streamline your damage later on into either fire or cold, so you have to kinda go elemental, which I personally don't like that much. Damage wise this type of build would be much better if you had good ways of converting the fire damage into cold damage and just focus on that. Your setup seems hilariously tanky though! :D PS: I don't think elemental harmony rings are that good anymore, they got nerfed a lot. I would only use them if you can use all of their stats perfectly, like maybe on a Saboteur. Reign of Fire and Ice is definitely better for this build.

I have Heart of wrath 12/12 but I am having difficulties to switch between the first "aura shield" (infernal aura carapace) and the other shield "end game" shield that boost Judgement. You need to hit at least one enemy with judgment to trigger heart of wrath. As long as you do that and you have heart of wrath maxed out, the judgment shield should be better than the Aura ofC shield.

Thanks for the guide! Explained everything really well except sometimes I felt that you went over the devotions pretty fast. Otherwise 10/10. I just finished Ultimate story + DLC's for the first time with this build and farming now. Fun character to play and feels decently strong (first character so nothing to compare it to) I haven't found any great legendaries for this build yet but I got 2 pieces Pyran's set so I maxed out Guardian of Empyrion aswell and it seems to add a little bit of damage as they scale with player bonuses even though they are summons. It sorta fits in to the theme of passive damage around you :D Something to consider if you don't have all the aura legendaries yet. Because otherwise especially the single target damage isn't amazing at lvl 100.

Glad you enjoyed it, sorry for the late answer. Pyran's set is a great set overall, but even better with Demo or Arcanist as secondary instead of Inquisitor. Hopefully you'll get the proper Aura items soon! Virtue set for Aegis aswell as items supporting Rune of Kalastor are great for Paladin, too.

As also stated in the video, I would generally advise you to do all acts in normal before moving to elite to unlock all factions unless you are speedleveling with XPpots/lokarr/merit/mandates. Gear isn't as much of a concern as reputation and faster access to augments which you certainly will need for ultimate. Also you can get missing relic blueprints from the vendor in steelcap district.

Your grimtools for level 34 shows Aura of Censure in the skill tree but it is not on your hotbar. Are you not using the aura at level 34?

I put all my toggle abilities (like AoC) to the secondary skill bar, which doesn't show up in grimtools.There's a small button to the left of the skillbar to switch between bars (default hotkey is "Y" I believe).

I defeated the Warden and started Act 2. The only people in the bottom of Devils Crossing are Barnabas and Hangman Jarvis. I see no green portal. I do have the Ashes of Malmouth and Crucible expansion packs. Is there another pack I am supposed to have for Act 7?

The Oathkeeper mastery and Act 7 are both part of the Forgotten Gods expansion. Some of the items highlighted in this video like the shield I use to enhance Aura of Censure are also locked behind that expansion. Rekt I know this build is semi old at this point, but do you think it's still worth trying with the nerf to the Fleshwarped Defender? Heart of wrath has quite a bit of down time it feels like now.

It should still be a good build imo, but I agree that the longer downtime on heart of wrath feels bad. Fleshwarped Defender is still one of the best choices, but you can definitely also experiment with other shields/offhands.

I can't beat Father Kymon with this build. I almost died and had to quit the game quickly. I have 3150 DA and 2950 OA. I don't understand with my other class I had worse stats and could beat this OP boss :D
