It is really off character for Bile though. Bile makes a great effort to not cause suffering just for the sake of suffering like his wretched legion brothers. He even gives the eldar captive pain medication and talks about not becoming like his brothers.

As a 22 y/o southern guy in rural TN, I fully support this message. If it were not for GW's massive lorebook selection (I love to read, when I was a kid my parents let me stay up at night if I was reading :D) then I would not know the lore. If it were not for very, VERY talented storytellers like Baldemort, my fav wh40k lore channel, I wouldn't still be so enraptured by this universe. Good Lord, great comment.

I dont know how Baldermort does this, but his style of narration somehow makes it easier to picture whats going on in your mind and makes it easier to understand the motives of the characters. Its like storytelling in HD.

I believe that one of the factors, is that he actively "lives into the role", when he is making a sentence for a charecter. Prioritising the conveying of emotions of the characters, by tone and volume of his voice. And also the writing is beautiful. It is insanely important to include the smallest details, to convey the "HD" feeling of the story. F. Ex: a drop of water landing on a charecter, a slight twinkle in an eye, a tiny crackle of a distant Bolter shot. Almost undistinguishable, from a falling stone, in the vastness of a Hive City. The juice is most defenetly, in the details! And Baldermort executes these techniques masterfully.
