with grimes and her education it is important to remember that Quebec is SO VERY DIFFERENT than the rest of canada and Montreal (where her university Mgill is) is basically a super small town. So it is important to keep that in mind and not apply what is true in Quebec or ANY province for that matter to " Canada". since education is controlled at the municipal and provincial level, including grants. In Montreal you can afford rent with a minimum wage part time job. You can find a nice place for 500$ Canadian. In Toronto with a full time job that's slightly above minimum wage you cant even afford rent, let alone food and education. Vancouver is even more expensive. This is coming from someone born in Quebec and is attending school in Toronto.

Absolutely. A former Presidential Candidate having a conversation with... A young female singer who's music and art has a very "Alternative" vibe to it and he has her on to talk about AI, tech and politics. (I know she's Elons GF but still, I digress.) If Kamala Harris wasn't VP and instead started a show called "Harris Speaks" there would not be such a casual and accepting vibe. I think we can all imagine Kamala being way over the top, trying to identify with Grimes as being to females and try to talk feminist movement, (which while important Social Issues and Civil Liberties are- if you're from MSM and didn't know- NOT the only thing that womens voices are useful for in politics! As shown here!) I supported Bernie in the Primaries, and was disappointed not only in his loss but his actions before and after conceding. I believe he would have been the Dem Nominee if the DNC didn't have a deck of Aces in their sleeve to use on Progressives. But for some reason, even though he supports Nationalized Healthcare... Even though he talks about giving "free" money to people. Even though I'd say he's not AS progressive as Bernie, (he'd probably claim similar, he's a businessman..) I think he's right on 90% or more of the issues, and agrees with Bernie on a number of things. Even after all that, he still gets a seat at CNN, he still says stuff that no other panelist would say like he did on Election night, and he's NOT called a Socialist, he's not attacked nearly as much (and maybe that would change if Bernie wasn't in their crosshairs the whole time, 2024 Yang could be different story). While I find that fairly ironic and telling about their general feelings towards Bernie for some reason, I am encouraged in the fact that MSM has allowed Yang to gain enough name recognition in this race (the most important thing in nearly any Primary tbh) to have a VERY viable chance at taking home the vote. Again, I'd like him to rethink some things, like taking away the most destitute peoples Welfare and replacing it with simply $1000. I think there's probably more to it than that. And maybe he's explained it better but I've heard him talk about it before, and that's the gist I get. And others arguments against his idea of doing that are more persuasive than his argument for it, but that's the types of issues I disagree on. Real policy... Not WHETHER OR NOT he should have a cabinet FULL OF REPUBLICANS AND LOBBYISTS. Not whether or not people DESERVE $1200 TWO TIMES IN A YEAR?! Not on whether or not Fracking is terrible for the environment.. Dude likes numbers. He likes facts. And while factually he COULD add a lot of numbers to his bank account by towing the line, he simply doesn't.. He remains palatable to the Establishment, which is honestly really smart and helpful... AND he's a joy to be around. You think Obama was funny and charming as president?..... 1st: get out more, and 2nd: Imagine Yang!

Amazing interview. Just wanted to comment on her saying how art for kids is sort of obnoxious. THANK YOU! I don't have kids but I have nephews so I often see kids' cartoons or toys and it always scares me how bad some of the things for kids are. I believe it's important to expose your kids to good quality content (whether it be books, music, movies etc.) because it plays a great deal in developing their imagination and taste

I was a single mom by choice. I don’t regret it at all. I have a great relationship with my daughter. I did think I’d lose my mind by about month 5, as she got colicky...and she was terrified of taking baths, so I had to GET IN THE TUB WITH HER AND NURSE HER. That was a bit tough. I was definitely “winging it” much of the time. She’s 19 now and still living with me. She helped me get through cancer. She’s amazing.

Plato was not a fan of Artist’s in “The Republic” because Artist’s were difficult to control and threatened his vision of the perfect society... I believe he wanted to ban them. Artist’s “create”, they manifest new concepts that are accessible to the public experiencing the Art and this phenomena is not easily controlled or manipulated at least in Art’s original/pure/unmonetized form. This seems to be an issue in the USA which is I believe the reason that it is very difficult to survive being an Artist in the United States culture... Artists are for the most part marginalized unless a dollar value can be assigned to the “Art” and this I feel needs to change, NOW. Thanks for the video! 🌀❤️🌀
@dampdoily4 жыл бұрын
As an early structuralist Plato was more ontological than epistemological. He had no idea how far the plains of knowledge and freedom could extend. It could be posited that art is more creative when oppressed and that fiscally incentivising art would strip-mine the soul from it. Better to just offer everyone security/dignity and art could be more about personal development as opposed to the current trend of populist exhibitionism.

Preach. My mom was told by her Roman Catholic Priest that I could not be baptized because she and my bio dad whom I have never met were 18 years old and unmarried. This was 1979. The family was against her too back then as well, we all never connected and they looked at me like a child who would never get to heaven because I was not baptized. I find all of this insane. I have an almost 17 year old now and never baptized and never would, it is so important that he learns organically how he feels about what comes next.

Grimes was criticised before for sort of showing an aversion to the word "mom", saying she struggled to relate to the word. But I think it was premature and probably misunderstood, because she comes across as a really good mom. And she was just being honest I think, a lot of women take time to accept their completely new identity after the birth of a child.
@2.am.cigarettes.2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree. I think when she said "I dnt know if I can relate to the word mom" -not an actual quote but I think the public jumped on her for that but we feel how we feel and that's that lol

Education is not paid for in Canada. It's cheaper than the US definitely, but we still graduate with debt. I'm 32, so I graduated 10 years ago but I was 37,000 in debt after I graduated, and I lived at home. Live on campus, and you can probably double that. It doesn't really seem like much, but to a recent grad entering the job market, it's terrifying....and student loan companies will demand it back in a ten year period, so bye bye to half your monthly salary! And the interest rate you pay is shady has hell...which no one explains to you when you're 17 and have no idea the difference between floating and fixed rates.

Grimes is so right about kpop. I wasn’t a kpop fan, but I was aware of it because I love kdramas. However, I recently fell into the BTS rabbit hole because they just have this wholesomeness and genuineness that feels rare in the American celebrity scene. They are also just super talented along many dimensions.
