David Crockett better known as FRONTIER LEGEND DAVY CROCKETT. Disney made a whole series on him back in the 60s. I loved them all. Fess Parker played Davy. Perfect casting.

As a native Texan, I wish to thank you for your respectful view towards one of our greatest historic treasures. Inside there is a plaque that bears the names of all the people who died defending the Alamo from Gen. Santa Ana. It may surprise you to know that they not only came from all parts of the United States, but even other countries, including Mexico. They came to Texas seeking to make a home. In valiantly giving their lives, they made the ground they fell upon sacred. For me, everytime I go, it's a worshipful, reverent, sobering experience. We native Texans are annoyingly proud and boastful of our home, but we'll happily welcome anyone who treats her with respect. We'll fill your belly with Tex-Mex or spicy Texas barbecue brisket (you gotta try Rudy's moist brisket!) and we'll talk your ears off about how much we love Texas. If you ever travel to Mineral Wells, TX, you might want to visit the Baker Hotel, which is highly regarded as haunted, with one person accidentally beheaded by a faulty elevator back in the early 1900's, as I recall. www.onlyinyourstate.com/texas/baker-hotel-tx/ Blessings!

The Baker is being restored and should be open in 2024 or 2025. They have a Bonnie and Clyde room that they stayed in for a time. Also haunted by Mr Bakers mistress who killed herself. Ghost hunters have visited and got some crazy things on video!

Little known fact, there is a basement under the Alamo's gift shop and there is a hallway from it that connects (or used to, at least) with the Menger Hotel. It's from when the area was used as the San Antonio police and fire department in the late 1800s. This is what the gift shop, the meeting hall, and the old records building were originally constructed for. Geronimo was held there for trial before he was taken to prison in Florida. I learned this from someone who had worked there for years. My family used to go there for meetings once a year and was always entertained with history and stories from our friend. I believe the place is definitely haunted. Some sort of residual energy there at least. They've had newly hired park police quit after just a few nights on the job due to experiencing things that they refused to talk about. Just found your channel not long ago. Love it! Thanks!

My descendent Gregorio Esparza is buried there [After the battle, Mexican Gen. Santa Anna ordered the defenders' bodies burned on three large pyres near the mission, Gregorio Esparza, was granted a traditional burial because his brother was granted permission to retrieve his body.] Our family has a book about him, cool to have family ties there, much respect ❤️ Just found your channel, love it thanks for sharing, I subscribed! I have a family member’s name on the monument. Another thing, Phil Collins was fascinated as a kid by the Alamo movie starring John Wayne. He was a major collector of Alamo memorabilia and not long ago donated his collection to the Alamo. Next time in Texas swing by Houston and I’ll buy y’all a beer.

If you go back in time further, the Battle for Texas Independence began in a small town called Gonzales. When Travis asked for reinforcements, the only ones able to come were 32 men from Gonzales. I live in that town. You should come if you ever get the chance.

I recommend you come back to SA around October and book a ghost tour. We have some amazing ghost stories here, many of them are around the missions (including the alamo) the Menger hotel, and the old jailhouse. We don't often get as much attention for our hauntings as other places but I promise you we are just as haunted if not more so than anywhere you've heard of. There are rumors that Teddy Roosevelt haunts the Menger.

I was stationed at Ft Sam Houston in San Antonio for Combat Medic school in the Army, after going from National Guard to active duty in ‘94. It blew my mind the first time I saw the Alamo, both by its actual size and it’s location. It’s a lot smaller than I expected, but VERY beautiful! As for it’s location…. I always thought it was out in the middle of nowhere (which it probably was when the battle took place), but nope. Smack in the middle of a courtyard/square downtown, and if you blink you’ll miss it. A VERY cool part of American history though! 👍🏻

#Michael. Archaeologists working in the Alamo found there was a type of basement that was located in the Colonnade part of the Alamo during the pandemic. I follow the work they have been performing on it for years and they Archaeologists put out a monthly newsletter with their findings. It's pretty cool. Yes, technically there is... Ozzy pissed on the grassy fenced off area in the front of the Alamo, not the monument as other rumors have stated. I was there when that happened... It was typically an Ozzy day...

The story with Ozzy was Sharon always took his clothes away on tour so he couldnt go out and buy booze. He found her green evening dress and wore that lol So not only was he peeing on a sacred monument, he was wearing a dress. The story goes that the cop said "How would you like it if I peed on Buckingham Palace?" To which Ozzy replied "I wouldnt give a f*ck mate...I dont live there!" Of course, the cop ran him in. Great material guys. Keep it up : )

He wore Sharon’s dresses on more than one occasion, they showed that in Motley Crue’s “The Dirt” movie. Ozzy was walking around with a dollar bill hanging out of his ass and offering it to some old couple by the hotel swimming pool for drinks. 😂

Live in SA. Remember when Ozzie came for the concert. He was higher than a kite. He got cited and had to go before a judge. He also got banned from playing in SA. The whole area is going to be redone and made more like it was during the battle. The top part of the Alamo was added years after the battle. I think there was a small dug out at one time. The reason is Davy Crockett survived the battle but was killed by Santa Anna afterwards. I think Davys men hid him there in the hopes he would survive. The Mexican army didn't have time to bury them. Remember they were after the Texas Army. The two areas they were burned is to the left of the Alamo at or near the old fire station and to the right where the River city mall is.
