This is one Wesen that isn't really evil per say since their job is to protect the innocent but may go at it in a not so good way. Like the Glowflok. As they hate to attack anyone as they are very peaceful Wesen and try to help the ones that they have to attack as shown in the episode where the female is gonna give birth and the male hates to kill the cows but has to and also both were worried about the woman that had been knocked out by them.

I've gotta say, the El Cucuy seems like one of the most compassionate species, their hearing makes it so they are hearing the grief of people like them and so they kill then to end the grief and make then safe, at first it was probably to make things less focused and loud before they started to hear the happiness and realize they were doing good which had made me think of them this way, take pleasure in the pain of the criminals, sure, but they could have just been indiscriminate hunters which is why I think they are one of the most compassionate wesen made in Grimm

Colton Williams agreed. There’s a similar Wesen that can see the futures of infants that without fail will do terrible things unless they kill them. They’re incredibly conflicted but know it’ll be worse if they don’t do it. I suppose she feels better knowing that she’s punishing actions that have already taken place or are currently happening, from her perspective she’s commuting less grievous actions in smaller amounts against genuinely evil people. She probably thinks of it as her morale obligation to do something and that hearing the cries helps her know what to do

The cucuy is a cetiberian (current Portugal and Spain) folk tale very popular among kids, didn't know in the USA was popular too! In our tales (it depends of the regions so I will talk about mine) a curandera (a healer) recommended to a man to start drinking kids blood because of a disease he had so he became the coco. In my region the coco is described as hairy and has holes instead of eyes and mouth but as interesting fact in north Portugal is a dragon!
