This was great practice for painting a night time scene, I really loved using masking fluid along the edge of the tree to create a glowing effect of the moonlight shining down from behind. I cant wait to use that technique again. I was inspired by Chris Dunn for that particular technique, he has a few instagram videos showing how he does it.
If you have any questions please ask in the comments.
✥ The Quote I reference/butcher:
God has loved us without being loved, but we love Him because we are loved. We cannot be of
any profit to Him, nor love Him with this first love. Yet God demands of us, that as He has loved us without any second thoughts, so He should be loved by us. In what way can we do this, then, since He demands it of us and we cannot give it to Him? I tell you: through a means which He has established by which we can love Him freely, and without the least regard to any profit of ours: we can be useful, not to Him, which is impossible, but to our neighbour...To show the love we have to Him, we ought to serve and love every rational creature...Every virtue receives life from love, and love is gained in love, that is, by raising the eye of our mind to behold how much we are beloved of God. Seeing ourselves loved, we cannot do otherwise than love...So thou seest that we conceive virtues through God and bring them to the birth for our neighbour.

I loved the message of sharing that you got through it, but I interpreted a different message as well. I think a big part of the story is A. God providing for us against all odds; the little girl could have kept what little she had, but she trusted God and He provided. And B. God uses our difficult circumstances for good; though losing her parents and dealing with poverty was horrible, had those things not happened to her she never would’ve been able to bless those other people.

Just found you Cleo, and subscribed immediately, because your video is wonderful. Its charming with excellent visual effects, gorgeous music, uplifting content .... and most importantly, a healthy dose of pure magic! Your calligraphy is also great. I do hope you will decide to finish your painting and re-post as it contains the essence of the story, which our heavily materialistic world of today desperately needs. ❤

Thank you so much, this means to much to me. I’d love to do more of the lesser known Grimm tales, they have so much value in them.

Beautiful painting. I love this idea that in order to receive, we must first give. Imagine how different our world would be if that’s how we all felt and acted ❤

I found it :) ‘The good does not derive from the act itself but from the inner disposition which prompts the noble conduct: the wise and good man in his very action harvests the good not by what he does but by what he is.’ - Plotinus
