Wow, I already knew there’s a lot going on in the background, but I never realized the scale of it all! Amazing how so many people are devoting their time and efforts for this! Lots of respect for this!

Wow, lots of behind the scenes legwork.. It sounds daunting, getting all the right people in place and on the same page. It's not every day that you run across the right kinds of people with the skillsets to pull this type of thing together. Not to mention finding people with said skillsets that are willing to devote their time to such a project. Very informative.

And them doing it all for free. It is a true miracle that GR exists.

Excellent, thanks for the quick response to my question. I could tell to a certain degree from viewing the GR videos that it was/is a massive team effort. The payoff in realism/play-ability however is definitely worth it. Great job thanks for sharing. Cheers.

Great video, but 2 years on we still don’t have a dynamic campaign in DCS. :(

I like to classify my job as "working out new and interesting ways to make sure Cap gets shot down in every mission" (kidding ;) ) Just some small corrections: Obi helps out with the BDA and testing for Colombia. Onslaught has come up with some ideas (both initial and ongoing) and "cinematics" (for Colombia). So, I can't take all the credit. To add some more information for those interested: Ground units are the toughest because DCS network code is very much effected by their movements.... so nothing is dynamic in that regard, for that reason, and I have to test the timing of their movements 'the hard way' to make sure their movements are done by the time the air action starts - they also seem to work a lot better when their waypoints are preplanned in the mission file. Whilst their routing is preplanned, the outcome of the battle is random.... but I personally like to include it (I would like to do so on a much larger scale if ED can work out how to make it work) as wars arent won just from the air, and it makes it quite entertaining to watch. PS: I think you should fly with GRAV one mission Cap... but, strongly recommend a few practice flights so there's no mental breakdowns ;) - I am sure the GRAV boys would run through a few practice scenarios and explain how the scripting works

You should teach CAP how to use MOOSE so he can make some tutorials on how to use it.

@@kasmiller9289 To be honest, I dont think Cap has the time.... but perhaps an overview type video could be done. The makers of MOOSE have many videos on the subject and even a bunch of 'moose for dummies' videos.

Ironwulf2000 Watching CAP come to grips with it would be nothing short of entertaining. Even if it was just an over view, I think it would encourage more people to give it a go.

it wouldn't be called a dynamic campaign it would be called boxed or user based. using the word dynamic campaign is more than misleading. Dynamic means every time you play the mission it's different it's dynamic. it means the things that you do count in the long run and it takes no user input to do it
@whiskizyo2067
@whiskizyo2067 4 жыл бұрын
actually i wouldnt call it "boxed" (whatever that is) or user based either - i'd call it a "persistent" campaign, where everything you do matters, everything persists to the next mission. calling it user based just denotes the creator of it, not the actual mode/design type used.

Could you do a video explaining dcs and arma please? What I mean is: Would you like Arma3 ground warfare in dcs? Would it be better for GR if arma had the same map you play on so you could fly in dcs then come into arma to do the land battles? What direction would you like both games to go? Are you able to use dcs ships in a tactical manner to support ground attacks and so on? Thanks

I would love to see some tutorials on MOOSE and MIST.I think they would be used a lot more if there were some decent tutorials on how to make scripts.

There is plenty of good docs and tutorials on these BUT be prepared to spend a lot of hrs to get up to speed on this. This is not for the casual mission builder. Lots of hours are required to get in to DCS lua coding even with these tools (depending on your programming experience already). Hi Can you do a video on installation of the dynamic campaigns. I have the main DCE campaign installed for the F-18 but how do I add the missions for F-16 or Tomcat without over writing the F-18 files. I am a newbie so I am kind of lost.
