Thats really useful.. Didn't realise the Training servers were open, assumed they were for training GR recruits, thought only the Playground server was open.

Yeah when i started dcs i was looking for a training server but when it requested a password I thought u have to pay to get it or something

@@mirochlebovec6586 you just have to join the grim reapers discord linked in all the videos. Its free. The server information channel lists the public servers and gives the ip and password for each.

I also have a quick question, when you join the server, do you have to take part in combat missions, or can you for example just take a plane and fly around? I only ask because for me personally I need to work on my flying skills.

Of course, there are pve mission's running but they're up in the north. Pvp is by mutual consent only, plus there are plane slots in vaziani for example that are far away from other players :)

This great info for a newbie like me. I have a couple of questions. #1-should I download the DCS manual? And, where would I find the flight manual for the F-5?

DCS manual is already in your DCS install folder under Docs/ F-5 manual will be in the install folder, look in Mods or Coremods, then the F-5E/docs/ it will be in there. I swear they try to make these things hard to find.

I've read the rules but the command line access on #bot-commands remains greyed out with "You do not have permission to send messages in this channel." I recently reported my issue in the GR #public-lobby-chat and someone offered to look into it but still no change. I gave up and just use the 4YA servers for now.

Hey, dont know where you gather questions for vids, I'll try here: Could you show where I can inform myself about dcs and answer questions? The ingame tutorial is awful- at least the translated one. Google leads me to very old threads and videos and tere's too many when you look for simple questions. Looking for checklists, radio comm with the airport. Appreciate your vids.

Also, the Grim Reapers channel has many tutorial videos for every module in DCS, and informative videos about MilSim things such as radio brevity, what is SRS, LotATC, graphics settings, air-to-air and air-to-ground basics, etc.

I believe all servers are Open Beta and open to Steam users.

you can install the Open Beta by going to the settings for DCS in the Steam launcher, going to advanced, and changing your version to "-beta". The open beta is very stable these days, but prepare for a large, long install

I have a tech question. Has anyone put together a how-to on installing DCS on Linux using Wine/Lutris ect? I am extremely interested in getting into the game but I have yet to get my Ubuntu (18.10) build to successfully launch it.

Good luck with that. DCS is built and optimised for Windows.
