Just the fact that a radar can see into the air intakes and by scanning the blades of the fan tell what kind of engine it is blows my mind. I know that the F-15E radar can do that as well. Amazing tech.

Akchully™ it's just using artifacts which doppler radar unintentionnally have - all fastmoving parts becomes a spikes on scan (pulsing due refresh rate of radar) drawing a unic recognizeble pattern for most things. It's easy to differentiate big target with 4engine from 2engine and small with 2 or 1 just by throwing a look on the raw data of doppler radar by human eye, and computer get more data by counting pulses of spikes and strobes.

It just blows my mind that I can now watch you discussing a program that I had to be read into back in the day, as an F18 avionics tech! Just amazing! Keep up the good work!!

I've been flying the F-16C module for a while now, didn't realize it had NCTR implemented! Thanks for showing where to look for the aircraft type. I find it quite useful in the F-15E to be able to confirm you're actually locking what you think you're locking, even if you know all bricks are in fact hostile. (Is that the Mi-24 or the Mi-8?)

Is it correct that if you do not work with any type of Datalink that the system of the F16 itself doesn't mark planes as Green, Yellow or Red but rather you have to watch out if the plane gives a signal back and then double check by identifying the type of aircraft at the top of the fcr or am I misunderstanding something here? Thanks!
