I love this band they were the best concert I’ve ever been to. If you have never been you need to learn their music and go. These are top notch great guys my wife and I love them. They don’t use profanity in their concerts that I remember so I really appreciate that. You don’t see a rock band be as classy as these guys 100%

What a great interview! I grew up with Brent, and I can attest that he did in fact wrestle in High School, at South Doyle, because I wrestled with him our Gresham and sophomore years! We used to give each other rides home from practice. I drove a beat up 1980 Toyota Celica, and when it was broke down, I'd ride home with Brent in his Jepp Cherokee. When his Jeep wasn't running, he'd ride home from practice with me. We also used to ride the bus together in 7th grade, and we'd listen to tapes together on our Walkmans. He was belting out the songs on the bus way back in 7th grade.. Also, that same year, we both got guitars for Christmas or birthdays, or somethings, so we'd spend the night at each other's houses and try to jam a little bit and show each other what we'd learned. I'm so glad he pursued his true self and became so successful! As for me, I did too. I joined the Marines out of High School, and now I fly for a major airline. I did a little bit of TV acting too. South Doyle put out some great people! ~Jason Vandergriff.

Such a great interview. They both look happy and like they are having fun too. But are serious when needed. Brent describing what depression is really like made me cry as there are not many famous people who actually go into detail and say some people have an imbalance in their brain and its not their faut. It made me feel like im not making it up. I love that they as a band are just so honest and open and dont hide anything.

Zach nails it at 9:30 as to why I will take my boy to see this band when I can. I'm an old metalhead but It's nice to have a band that doesn't rely on an f-bomb every other word when they are talking in between songs. The positive message also are a huge seller for me also. One of the VERY few radio rock bands I can really enjoy still (been listening since 2003).

my 28 year old son died by suicide 2 years ago and im soon starting a support group for families who have lost a live one to suicide. I love you guys even more then I did because you talk about these issues and you advocate for people to not be afraid to ask for help! we need to get rid of the stigma that suicide is not a personal sign of weakness it is the only way some people know how to end the pain. thank you guys for supporting the cause and using your voices to get out the message. peace and love to you both!

Damn, brothers my hat is off to you. I can relate big time. For you guys to take the time to address issues that most sweep under the rug is sooo inspiring. Thats some real. So many people are so shallow. On the surface oh yea they are great. Just as long as things look great its OMG "WONDERFUL"!!!! Get them with some real adversity, they lose thier minds, dont know what is going on. =shallow af= Big time rock star grounded in reality= Very influential to millions. Wow, good fucking job as a human being. Growing, learning, cultivating that mentality of non judgemental but accepting responsibility, PRICELESS!!!! Big kuddos

@@brentstephensmith5966 what’s it they say, better late than never. I’m touched that you took the time to reply. Just know that Shinedown will always have my love and support. The first time I heard the bands name, and your music I actually did think of your band as “Shining Down”, because you men do just that. You impart light with your work, you guys literally are shining down. I hope all of you and yours are doing well, moving forward through what I call “this steep learning curve”. Loving Smith & Myers, and I am patiently waiting for the next Shinedown LP...I’m old, I grew up on 1970s Canadian rock and roll. I have faith it will be the best yet, but Attention Attention, was pretty damn good. Anyway, have a great rest of your evening, and an awesome week ahead. Peace.🤘
