Thank you for this video! When you dump the water outside, where do you do it? Just in the grass? I've got a water drainage pipe near my house and wondered if I could use that, since most of the glass mud is removed already. I just don't wanna dump the water in the grass bc of stray cats in the neighborhood!

Hey Mackenzie. Great video. I have my inland grinder since 1991. I do exactly what you said and I got many years of use out of my grinder. This is very good advice. Oh and by the way I have to congratulate you on your etsy shop. I have been watching it since I discovered it on Etsy. It is quite a phenomenon!!! I have never seen a shop sell out within minutes constantly. I love it. Fantastic!!! Maybe you can give us some pointers on how you have accomplished this. Great work!

Love your info. Can you cover bit grinding options? When I first started I used the 100 diamond grit, as time when by I discovered the fast coarse grit (because I wasn't cutting my pieces correctly). So lots to grind...and they definitely chip the glass...so I then discovered the twofer pack of 100 and 120 diamond grit. I'm sure there must be "the best one". But yes...I push way to hard. Today I will start the cleaning regime you showed us on this video. Ps. I'm originally from MA...and go back often...do you have a store front?

Hi Makenzie, I just watched your how to clean your grinder video. When you clean your grinder, please consider dumping the liquid onto a disposable absorbent material like old rags and disposing of it in your garbage can. I know, I know, the land fills are getting full but everything you pour onto the ground eventually ends up in our ground water. For example, in third world countries one of the first things taught is stop spitting. Gross I know, but that saliva eventually ends up in the water used for drinking, cooking, bathing, etc. Your work is awesome and your willingness to share much appreciated. Please accept this suggestion for the environment in the spirit it is given. Sincerely.

Could you dump the water down the sewage grate outside in the street? Also what do you do with the container of glass mud once it’s full? How do you do this outside of you have really harsh winters?
@MakenzieHallie
@MakenzieHallie 3 жыл бұрын
I have no idea, I live in New England so really harsh winters aren't a thing. I just speak on what I do. And I'm not sure. I don't think your technically supposed to dump anything down them, but hypothetically, I think yes that would work. Lol. Once your glass mud bucket is full, it's just dry mud, throw it in the trash.
@rkem139

I line the bottom of my grinder with aluminum foil (might not be practical for all grinder designs) and then after I dump the water, I can just lift the foil out and 90% of the mud comes with it. For the bit I just use metal grease; it seems to stick on the shaft fairly well.

I'm in need of a new grinder bit for an old glastar unit, there are so many out there and was wondering what brand to buy also are all grinder bits attached using an Allen Key now, mine is attached using a screw on top, just a hobbiest staned glass girl
@MakenzieHallie
@MakenzieHallie 3 жыл бұрын
So the only thing that matters is the size and type that your looking for. Half inch, quarter, inch. Then type for grit. Other then that MOST grinders use the same grinder shaft style. I'd have to see yours to know specifically. So as far as brand, I don't ever stick to a specific one. Alot of the time I just buy the cheapest option (to a certain point) on Amazon, that has the specs I'm looking for. You get what you pay for though. The more it is, the longer it generally will last. I find all soft grits are kind of the same.

What do you do about a face shield? I want a shield that goes all around the grinder. I am using a cardboard box and lots of glass spray accumulates on the box but it is ugly and cumbersome.
