Great video man! You definitely hit the nail on the head. I think we get in such a rush to make a finished product that we forget to slow down and practice. Mastery takes time and rep after rep. Making mistakes is the only way that I've ever gotten better at anything in life. Keep it up!

That's some very nice free-hand consistency! Good to hear some of the things I've been doing are standard practice for someone more experienced. Digging your videos and tips and tricks. I just finished a couple of new canvas micarta handles down to a really nice polished finish using your process but used paste wax this time around for the finish which worked fantastically. Keep it up!

Thanks for taking your time to give advice! I struggle with the idea of changing to a new belt before the one in use isn't really done. I get what you say though, it's just the money....

I just finished my first knife on my new 2x72. Well it definitely needs getting used to, but it’s so much more fun and you just feel it’s what fits best to knifemakers with variable speed of course... so I am still struggling a bit with the bevels and surely not quite there yet. As you said, if the heads not there, do something else, not only on the grinder! It will make you regret those little imperfections on your knife and time will not always help you getting rid of them!😊

Very helpful tips especially belt progression and speeds. Practice, practice definitely important. I often seem to end up chasing my grinds, where I’ll get one side exactly where I want it, then mess up the other side and have to keep switching back watching them climb toward the spine. 😒

It can definitely be frustrating at times!

What I find is when I get up to 220 and up I get facets in my grind and I end up working for ever trying to get them out

I totally know what you’re saying. Super frustrating

Love your channel and I have a possible video idea. How do you fix mistakes? What mistakes can be fixed and how on both blanks and scales? Thank you for taking the time to teach us!

GREAT Video’s, I practice with pieces of wood the size of a knife. It helps with getting the right pressure & keeping it straight and smooth. It’s ALOT cheaper to 😂🤣😂👍👍

great Video. the thing is u need time to grind only when your head is in it....pretty sure many use jigs..many makers who already know how its done...because their head is not always in it but they must produce no matter what...i could never do that many blades in a day after 2 i always am too exhausted or was...havent grond a blade from start to finish in years ....head not in it abymore sadly...keep up the great work

great video and very timely for me. I get frustrated at not being able to get clear sharp bevels and this video is very helpful. Thank you. Do you use a jig on your plunge lines?

Yes I use a home made file guide. I think I showed it in my last video but I’m not sure 🤔

Really nice looking bevels. I am guilty of trying to save money by using a belt to long. Let’s take the batch of ten you just did. I would imagine you started with a new 36,80,and 120. How many knives did You get with those belts? When did you switch them out? Thanks

I started with new belts and on the 8th blade I started to want to put a new one on for my 120grit but muscled through and got them all done. 😬 I got lucky lol
