When you fill up a loop, you'll want to use a bridge to connect to the actual loop instead, since the bridge exit always yields, it won't overfill it to the point of clogging, and you can cleanly remove the connection when it's full.

For new dupes, give them advanced research first which gives +20% to levelling. Then create a small room with a hamster wheel powering a light above the wheel, put a master statue on both sides of the wheel and put a door that only the new dupe can get through. The new dupe will power through levelling very quickly and have high athletics, just ensure that you stop them getting out of the base. Once i have exosuits i use this method to get the dupes skilled up to use them.

Doing my own run of this... Irregular oil, miscalculated pod and fewer geysers if I recall right. Got lucky with a cool stream vent near base so I have a good enough source of water for a electrolyzer. Got my base fairly stable but I would prefer my dups to have exo suits. Have not found any drekos or reeds. Exploring and building outside my base is harsh. The lack of gold, sort of forced to go steel for anything important. So in a sense the irregular oil made finding fossils for lime easier... But the heat management is a total ouch at times.

* You can add a pressure sensor to the mushroom farm. Generally you could work your way up to space and vent the CO2 there instead of skimming it. That saves power and heat * Indirectly, using fertilizer does save slime. Because you need less plants to feed the dupes * Now that you enclosed the electrolyzer you don't need really the second filter. Eventually there will only be two gasses in there. But the easiest way to separate hydrogen and oxygen is passively with a gas lock.
@stefanb1554 жыл бұрын
Are mushrooms really worth doing ? I never tried them because imo there are so many downsides. Have to be in CO2, so dupes alway have to hold breath. The slime… Its limited quantity, usually quite far away from base, gases off polluted air, often has slime lung germs. Just nasty stuff to deal with, prefer turning it to alge outside the base over bringing it in for shrooms. I prefer going for some sustainable food like gristleberry or omelette/meat right away.
@S_Black4 жыл бұрын
Gristleberry is good, but not here as it needs water. Shrooms don't need much slime and there is lots and lots of it on the map (also renewable with pufts). Mining slime isn't actually that difficult if you sheer the biome into the polluted water pool. Offgassing can be prevented by putting the storage bin in a tile of water or having a high enough gas pressure. The slimelung is more iffy. It doesn't actually matter for the shrooms as it has to be inhaled to hurt the dupes. Dupes that handle it may want to wash their hands though. It's also possible to automate the slime supply with autosweepers later on. My biggest pet peeve is the priority conflict when you try to supply shroom farms with slime and also a chlorine room to disinfect it. Because the game doesn't have a "don't put germy stuff into here" setting. Seems the only solution is conveyor rails

I tend to dislike wasting gas by spewing into space. I use ethanol in an aquatuner cooling loop to condense excess CO2 to feed large slicker farms.
@S_Black4 жыл бұрын
Those aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. Slickster ranches are quite far in the future here. You can vent into space early on and later redirect the CO2 elsewhere. Also doesn't hurt to still vent stuff like chlorine

Looks like your industrial zone needs a great deal of cooling or you're going to have a runaway heat production problem. Hot machines produce hot products... So if you can drop their temperature down to room temperature or lower, you should make that a priority.

I think you really want to have the bypass on the aquatuner, that seems to be the nicest way of keeping the loop constantly flowing. I'm also voting for turning down all your priorities by 3 lol. "I'll make this a low priority" then setting it to 6 isn't really "low" since that's still 1 above default ("normal" in my head) priority.
@stefanb1554 жыл бұрын
I think your desalinator is running quite inefficient. Only small amount of water goes trough since it only supplies 2 electrolyzer, and it merges with output of sieve as well. But it uses full power all the time regardless. Should put a few buffer tanks in the desalinator output and automate it with clock or liquid pipe element sensors. Same for sieves, you have a lot of them, 2 directly in base. One is enough for 5 co2 scrubbers. Again, i like collecting polluted water in a few tanks, and if they are full, let one sieve run until they are empty again. (Automated) not only saves power, but also dupe time running to them topping of filtration material. Imo you should also use all the hydrogen for power now. There is no point in saving it. Gas tanks take up so much space, yet contain relatively little gas. Better save up lots of water, so that you can turn it to LOX/LH quickly later. (And a big insulated pool of water is also a good heat sink/dump)
@GrindThisGame4 жыл бұрын

for pipes and wires, instead a full line of a pipe or wire draw dots and then connect the dots . in this case you would use half of the material.its a good and fair cheat :)

if you leave a tile in between the insulation and pull a vacuum wont the heat have no way to transmit to the base?
@stefanb1554 жыл бұрын
Dont even have to build those time intensive inulated tiles in this case ;-) Problem i think is to create the vaccum, forget pumping it out. Best is to make an liquid lock, vaccum out a small space behind it, and dig around the base afterwards from there. (Start digging in vaccum, all you dig out will also be vacuum, unless you hit bleach stone etc.) But i also think that this and double insulation would be overkill. Just dig a „trench“ around the base, so that only hot gas, and not hot solid tiles have contact to the one layer of insulation. And then close it up so dupes will never bring in any of the dug out hot material inside.
