Hi Nathan! I am new to your channel and just wanted to stop in to tell you how much I enjoy commentary style. I have over 500 + hours in ONI and really enjoy watching how others tackle issues and build their bases. I really like the balance between teaching and playing you have. Great work! I have subscribed and started watching some of your other lets plays :)

Hi Nathan, nice video. Do you mind if I suggest something about the loop for the refinery? There might be cases when the refinery has multiple jobs ready, but if coolant dumping stop, the whole refinery stops. So, you want to do your best to avoid that, and the coolant output should always have priority. The easiest solution is to add a reservoir to the loop. Be it right after the refinery output, or after the cooling loop, it matters not (much). I prefer to have the hot coolant to go immediately into the frozen biome/pool of water/steam room, for the obvious reason that heat transfer is faster the bigger the delta in temperature is... by putting the output right into a reservoir, you're increasing (slowly) the average temperature inside, so, necessarily, the coolant that goes out to the loop is colder, and dumps less heat. But the difference isn't that big in the long run and I just place the reservoir where's more convenient. So coolant goes out, to the loop, then to the reservoir, at its exit you check for the temp and send it to the refinery if ok, otherwise back to the pipe from the reservoir, with a bridge (so that priority is to the output of the refinery). I usually load at least 1600 kg of coolant, 1200 can enter the refinery and there's 400 ready to be loaded. Sorry for the long paragraph. I hope it makes sense. A few minor things... With pwater as coolant, the sensor can be safely set at 65°C. The output would be close to 120°C, it'll transfer heat as crazy, even potentially boiling water (which is unlikely, but anyway good, heat transfer of gases vs tiles gets a 25x boost... steam wont travel far away anyway, it'll condense on contact. I'd reverse the logic of the shutoff. As in "send pwater to the refinery (on green) if

With that volcano so close to your main base it could be a good opportunity later on to make an industrial steam room based on that location. Making a double liquid lock with oil (should you find any) to prevent heat transfer and putting all your heat generating buildings inside with a crap load of steam with turbines on top and some well placed cooling… you could do a lot with that location :) I look forward to seeing how you use it in the future videos :D loving this series so far!

I was thinking we could maybe use it for a petroleum boiler, but industrial sauna also sounds like a good idea!

The top minor volcano can be used as a power positive water purifier with the cool slush geyser. Make a tank of salt water to cool the output of the steam turbines before you boil it. Free igneous rock and fresh water for a Rodriguez that is all power positive. Just an idea keep up the great content!

@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
Will do more light in the final base. Starter base doesn't have to be optimized.
@zairev34382 жыл бұрын
@@Nathans-Sandbox Its not about "super optimizing", its super easy, fast and cheap, and gives a lot of bonus. Imho its better to do this early, because duplicants lack skills so everything takes longer. With lights, you gain more now when they are slow then later when they are already very skilled and fast.

if i was to weigh in on the regularity of the episodes, although these are rather shorter than I've become accustomed to, I imagine the smaller projects allow more regular updates... so receiving a daily dose of Harold is preferable than waiting several days to watch something lengthier. although i imagine this might not be so easy with larger projects later on? hmm... loving the content - superb job once again!
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
I would imagine later on it will take longer.

nice setup! as always ;). just to share i usually build the metal refinery to heat up the output of cool slush/cool salt slush geyser before setup the industrial sauna, in your case is not necessary since u are using the water to chill the cool steam vent and your tame doesn't have a buffer of cold water to allow the refinery to work different cycle (for ex when is dormant) but it allows to avoid setup other heating system. waiting for more episodes!!! have u ever think about start on twitch? it will be amazing! it ofc slow the video, and part of the video will be "ok now we are sweeping something for the next 20 cycle". If u ever start pls let me know i want to follow as soon as possible :D

Hey Nathan! as usual you push great content and i appreciate your hard work very much, one thing that maybe could help the series get even better, multiple times you start a project then you scrape it which is understandable we all do that, however can you edit those parts out and just upload the systems you actually end up going with? I hope you take this as constructive criticism and not a dig at you, you are my favorite oni creator after all! :D
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
I can't do that, unless you want one episode a week with huge gaps in recordings and interations. What you are looking for are tutorials maybe, not an LP.
@Mr_Papo2 жыл бұрын
