CYCLEPET fabricThis is essentially a trademarked brand of polyester made by our textile partner from recycled PET. They specialize in manufacturing CYCLEPET, in addition to an entire line of recycled materials. PET, polyethylene terephthalate (also known as PETE) is a strong, stiff synthetic material that is part of the thermoplastics family, meaning it can be heated, melted and cooled into many shapes and sizes. Made from a combination of oils and petrochemicals, it’s popular within the manufacturing sector for producing bottles and jars. In fact, almost every plastic bottle is made from PET. It’s suitable for a range of beverages including carbonated, still and dilutable drinks, fruit juices, and bottled water.

One thing that always seems to be missing on these "medium" size bikepacking saddlebags is a place to attach a rear light for those times when on road vs. on trail or the ride to trail. Would have liked to see that here. Saddle mount for a rear light don't work with how high this rises directly off the back. Like what I saw, just that one little detail.....

I'd really like to see some 3M reflective stripes on bag, like some other manufacturers have done. Also a way to attach a light/radar to the back.

Great bag Josh. I recommend that you add a white or light color liner to the inside of the bag. As people age it get more difficult to see dark things in dark places. Liners could also improve water proofing of the bags. I would not mind if the bag were a little heavier with a light liner.

A few questions:- As another comment mentioned - how does the rear bag accommodate lights, radar, camera, that would normally attach to your seat post? How does the front bag work with your head unit/computer, light and maybe camera? I didn't quite catch the 'aero bit'. Did you say it/they actually acts as an aid and reduces drag (and wattage needed)? Please clarify... Chris

Great looking products. I hope that you add a long top tube bag to the collection. Most of the top tube bags miss the mark by either being too short for the long days or trips or if they are longer, they tend to be a too narrow to be truly functional. I believe that there is either a sweet spot between the too narrow vs. too wide (hitting your needs when pedaling), or a company making a truly high quality product in several different dimensions.

The saddle bag looks good. I echo other comments on having an attachment point for a rear light. I imagine the ver2.0 will be even better with the addition of reflective strips and light attachment. I also look forward to the chain waxing system ver2.0 that can be used in other parts of world with different AC voltage. Thanks again, Josh. Cheers, Sek Chuan from Singapore.

I really like the idea of the saddle bag, but a major bummer for me is that this particular saddle bag doesn't seem to have a convenient mounting point for rear lights, camera and/or radar. Since the size and mounting takes up the whole seatpost and saddle rails, it takes away all the options to mount such things on the bike as well. Idea though: i think the area around the boa and air valve is rigid? In that case I think some gopro style fingers on the top of that part seems like a decent solution, for version 2! If strapped in tight with the boas it will probably be stable enough for a camera (at least for a Cycliq or Varia like camera for security, maybe not for production).

Looks good, just wish you would have grabbed the saddle bag and given it a good side to side tug to show how secure it is. One of my biggest gripes with saddle bags is that I watch the reviews, reviewer says "bag is so stable", then I get the bag and it flops around. I'll be giving it a shot though

Regarding the handlebar bag aerodynamic properties, has anyone considered actually making a handlebar bag that is not a roll but that tapers towards the front center, i.e. more or less a 90°C rotated pyramid shape with the front center being the tip (but rounded out to a more aerofoil like shape presumably). It would look terrible but maybe it solves the issue of aerodynamics; I don't have a CFD model to test though. But essentially set the goal of the handlebar bag to optimize the airflow to the point it becomes faster than no handlebar bag :D

Unfortunately there is no good shape for a bar bag that we found, they all have an aero penalty as they increase frontal area, however, the saddle bag fills in the void behind the rider and can offset with a drag reduction.

I've used their mattone on my gravel bike and the boa dial will eventually be destroyed if subjected to normal mud spray. It fills with grit and becomes impossible to pop free to open the bag. Unfortunately the use of two boas on this design will suffer the same fate when used in an "adventure" setting.

The BOA fastening system does not fill me with confidence. On my two Silca rolls both have come loose on the road with the roll swinging under the seat. While it could be argued that may just be user error, I'd be amazed if that were true. Its a cool idea obviously, but in the end I used leather toe straps to secure them. That's tool rolls. For something bigger I have real doubts about the security of the BOA system keeping the pack in place on trails for example. The seat pack I use has good old velcro and regular quick release buckles. Not as elegant as BOA fasteners however I have no doubts it will be there until I remove it no matter how rough the trail or how long the road. It also has reflective material externally, capability for external attachments especially for a tail light which seems an unusual omission for the Silca bag. Riding at night happens. The front bag is a neat piece of design, however unsuitable for those of us using maps, phones for real time navigation or keeping brevet cards under the clear panel on the top of a traditionally shaped bag which means its not an option for those use cases either. Access via the single zip looks fiddly and I wonder what anyone might actually put in there. Maybe you could show us in a follow up video - "using your Grinta bags". Mine carries a camera on occasions, would it fit? Doesn't look like it. The fastening system though, two thumbs up. I have a number of Silca products, appreciate the thought that goes into the design and build quality but these bags puzzle me. Maybe a MKII version will address the gaps.

That flapping plastic handle on the Asymmetrico serves no purpose, and the old design was far superior. $160 for a 2-liter saddlebag?!? 😂🤣😂 You must be a comedian. And a greedy one indeed: we can already purchase perfect Mattone copycats cheap as chips from AE. @@zenomolteni1253 With all due respect, there's nothing intellectual about a saddlebag without a rear light holder. And to answer your question, when the OG product is manufactured in Asian factories far, far away from American workers? ABSOLUTELY! The market is teaching a lesson to these greedy companies with their $160 saddlebags for dentists and lawyers about what happens when they outsource their production because Wall Street sold the soul of American business to the cheapest bidder. It's a useless discussion: this ship has long sailed and cheap copycats (of everything from pharmaceuticals to saddlebags) only benefit the consumer. Want to make money in business nowadays and forever after? Invent something REALLY proprietary (the cure for cancer for example, not a bloody saddlebag) and if possible manufacture locally.
