@CarsWithKeav Жыл бұрын
You can’t use a 1.1 on a high flow output pressure washer such as the Active. It will go way over the amps rates for the motor. Now on a Ryobi or any of those 1.2gpm machines for sure you can. I have added that to my future testing to use two different pressure washers with different tips.

Thanks for the review .. I'm assuming you only use the tips when doing auto-mix but if doing manual mix, you dont use any of the tips?

How can griot say it auto mixes at specific dilution with metering tips if you are allowed to adjust the knob.

Dilutions are based on the max setting. If you adjust the knob then the dilutions get weaker.

Also one more thing, usually once complete with a wash I filter water through the foam cannon to keep the chemicals from corroding the cannon. Do you just fill the container up and use it week after week or do you only fill 50-100ml and still flush with water?
@CarsWithKeav Жыл бұрын
When I ran auto-mix I would flush the cannon with the manifold not attached to the bottle then screw it back on with the soap still inside. Got to keep that manifold free of anything to have it last a long time.

I just bought this product from Amazon. But I am having difficulty turning the nozzle so it can be a horizontal spray. Whenever I hit resistance, I try to turn it (just like at 1:51), but it doesn't change the angle no matter how much force I apply. Can you provide any guidance?
@CarsWithKeav Жыл бұрын
Based on what others have said there seem to be two versions out there. Not sure if it’s a older and brewer thing or not. Like the MJJC they changed the cap to not allow dual threading in newer versions.
@dylonabubo75132 жыл бұрын
Hey, question. I just want a real specific answer. The metering tip allows you to just put straight soap in there? I know you spoke about "not worrying about dilution ratios anymore" with it, but is that straight up? Like I can just straight up fill it to the top with soap with that little attachment?
@CarsWithKeav2 жыл бұрын
That is correct, it will siphon the soap at a slower rate allowing all the mixing to happen in the manifold. Same technology car washes use to distribute soap and foam from large containers. Some soaps will do better than others though.

So other than machined stainless vs.brass bodies, the main difference between the 2 foam cannons tested is a small 50 cent changeable plastic orifice on the pickup tube to allow you to auto-mix? Can you order those plastic orifice replacements parts from Griots for when you lose them? (Or to upgrade your MJJC cannon?)
@timbruner46283 жыл бұрын
Ok, so you can buy a set of the 3 different plastic metering tips on the Griot’s website for $5.99. Could you test if they fit in the MJJC cannon pickup tube and report back how it performs to auto-mix? I could see the value in adding that to my MJJC foam cannon to be able to dial it in to use soap mix undiluted.
@timbruner46283 жыл бұрын
After reading Griot’s page more carefully, for $5.99 they sell you a set of 6 orifice tips but they’re all the same color (orifice size). You have to select which color you want. The product description lists which color is optimal for gas/electric/max foam. So 6 for $6 but all the same orifice size.
@CarsWithKeav3 жыл бұрын
They do not fit as I have already tried, but I'm trying to figure it out. It's just a change to the orifice of the pickup tube to be like a pinhole. The MJJC metal ball is very small and has a plastic tube with a filter built in that is glued and pressed into the ball opening. The Griots ball is much bigger and is all one piece of metal. There is a barb that sticks out the end to attach the pickup tube. I checked and the plastic on the MJJC is not big enough to drill out and use the metering tips. Now for the fun part though as the tip can actually fit in the tube itself whether at the top before the cap or at the bottom just before the ball. I have not tested yet, but the theory is sound as the metering tip fits very snug in the MJJC tube. Now could there some kind of pressure difference? Possibly, but only one way to find out. Will let you know.
@CarsWithKeav3 жыл бұрын
I see you already answered your question, but to add I think the MJJC is machined as well just in brass. What do you think? I will say with liquid the Griots is super light compared to the MJJC.

Hi Keav, I hope all is well. I have a question: I recently bought a griots garage the boss foam canon and planning to use it on an active 2.3 pressure washer with mtm sgs35 gun. I want to keep it below 15 amps; how should i go about it in terms of orifice size and other factors producing great foam output? Im new to this so dont mind me asking a stupid question. Thanks Please note I havent opened the boss foam canon and can return it and instead go for mjjc, please let me know if mjjc is better than the boss to use with active 2.3?
@CarsWithKeav5 ай бұрын
I prefer the MJJC over the Griots when it comes to foam production. The 2.3 should have shipped with a 1.45 orifice to use with the foam cannons you will be using. It should foam great with an MJJC and stay a good bit under 15 amps. These 1.4 on Amazon work good as well. amzn.to/3yqL8oI I would not advise going less than a 1.4 size.

I am in the market for a new foam cannon and I've watched all of your videos. What would be better, buying the Griots Brillance and installing a metering tip for a few dollars per your "Easy $6 foam cannon hack" or to buy the Griots Boss Foam Cannon? Other than the Frankenfoamer would the BOSS still be your top choice for foam cannons?
@CarsWithKeav Жыл бұрын
Currently my pick would be the MJJC S V3.0. Just did a review on it. The one draw back to the $6 hack is Griots charges so much for shipping. BOSS foam cannon is amazing and what I would buy if I was going to auto-mix. I don't do that anymore as I have way too many products and constantly changing for reviews so it's not feasible for me anymore. If you are sticking with one soap and want to auto meter then the BOSS is what you want. The build quality is amazing on it.

Great review Keav! Would you say the "The Boss" foam cannon is better than the MJJC foam cannon when paired with the Active VE52? In terms of overall foam thickness and not having to switch to the 1.1mm orifice to overwork the pump?
@CarsWithKeav3 жыл бұрын
I would say using the auto mix metering tip does create slightly more foam, but it did use more soap than my usual dilution. So I still think for the amount of soap the MJJC still shoots thicker foam and is the more efficient unit, but how light the BOSS is plus the Auto Mix does make it my current favorite. I’m going to try and retrofit the metering tip into the MJJC though. If it works I will make a video on it.

(Try this method to save more shampoo) spray the car with a little less foam first ( A LAYER OF MILK LOOKING ) NO FOAM ! just to drip off all the surface dirt then wait about 5 min to do a full drip off then power wash it off then apply a 2nd foaming really thick shaving cream. But Only on the top of the car NO SIDES using that same thick creamy shampoo From top of the car only That is when you come in with the micro rag/towel to hand wash the car first doing the top then Sliding the Foam downward from the top and using that extra creamy foam to wash now the sides saving more shampoo Then a full rinse and Done . What do you think of that way to save not a big deal but some folks want to save the Shampoo level or sqeeze as much foam you can get out of a 1 gallon Honey Due shampoo ect..

Sounds like a good way to me. Soap isn't that expensive though plenty of affordable ones out there. You could also not even do the 2nd foam on the top. Just fill a bucket 1/2 with water and then shoot the foam cannon into it. Use that for your mitt wash.

@CarsWithKeav3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that information and it's true that a 1.1 will get thicker foam for sure. I'm surprised Griots would be that reckless in a statement as there are so many other things to look out for when choosing the size of the orifice. I run the 1.25 mainly because the Active VE52 likes to push close to 14 AMPS when using a 1.1 orifice. The unit is rated at 15 AMPS so that's safe, but if I can run a 1.25 at 12.5 AMPS and I still get great foam, then I will be prolonging the life of my machine. I have had a machine that went over the rated wattage of the motor running a 1.1 orifice as well and it was advertised as 1800 PSI. Going over the rated wattage is a recipe for short life and overheating.
