This is best video on grip i've seen. Agree 100% on his technique

Mike on point as always. I so totally agree with him about people being "stuck" doing exercises a certain way, most people are, and i was one of them. I have been following several fitness trainers on here for over a decade. And seriously, only a very few have "unlocked the secret" to muscle gains. Bodybuilders of course know them, but few are willing to teach their tricks, Mike is one of the few that are really giving you the bread and butter of how to get jacked. I wish i could explain in one sentence how to accomplish the best possible way to gain muscle mass, but it isn't possible. I spent years on years getting to that point myself. You have to drop the ego first, that absolute has to go. Go half of what you normally do, no one in the gym cares how much you can lift, muscle gains is not about how much you lift. And once you half the weight, you can start to concentrate on the contraction, and start to do unconventional lifts and movements that forces your muscles to be isolated. This is KEY! It's difficult to explain exactly when you are doing it right, but at some point it just clicks, you understand it, and some if looks ridiculous to others, but you are not training for them, you are doing this for yourself. And you have the last laugh. Drop the ego, drop the weight, dare to think differently, and find your individual muscles, and then force them to work solo = gains, lots of gains.

I agree with Mike. I'm 54 yrs old haven't lifted in 12 years. Max weight on bench or squat is 225, but I do them for 15-20 reps. 4 sets each. Still putting on size!!

I had always heard that if you want to emphasize the lats, focus on pulling with the fourth finger and pinkie, and I definitely feel my lats better doing pull downs and pull ups that way. To each his own, I suppose. I doubt it is going to make much difference one way or the other.

Avoid stiffness in your lift. Your wrist is playable. Know where to put pressure on your hand to have greater range of motion. Got it😙

Mike should I focus on constantly squeezing and tensing my lats while pulling or let the contraction happen naturally? I feel like I’m over tensing my back while pulling which may be preventing me from pulling correctly.

He says you have to open your lats while still maintaining the connection with your lats in the open position. Keeping your elbows tucked in to your sides while pulling helps a lot. I’ve been following Mike for over a year and I just now got that part figured out. 🤦🏾‍♂️. I really feel my back working now. A lot of nuance to put together but still learning every time I watch and re watch his videos.

True true!!!! I you show them the right way , when they are on their own they will pile on the weight anyway cause they think you go to gym , put the pin all the way down cause that shows how manly they are, load up the plates cause they don’t want to look weak, don’t understand that to see progress you want at times to 😮struggle , example guy goes over to bar does four pull-ups with ease and walks away to do something else No one at my gym sweats or gets out of breath ever. No one does burpees or jumping jacks or crunches or squats or compound exercises . They don’t warm up , just go right to rack and start doing barbell squats. One girl puts seven plates on the sled pull and goes back and forth!!!!!! They think gym is a dumb subject and is self explanatory. It is not, they think if they go to the gym and push or pull the heaviest weight they will get big, and play with phone, sit on equipment, not doing anything!!!!😂😂

I’ve seen on a few videos where the guy would say you have to grip the bar as hard as you can on bench press. Yeah no thanks. All of your strength is being wasted on grip. The way you show with the false grip definitely the way to go. And I cringe every time I’m at the gym and every skinny guy is piling on plates and trying to lift the heaviest dumbbells and doing it badly. It’s amazing how little weight you actually need to stimulate. Keep up the good work Mike.

@@TyCorr i studied arm wrestling a lot years ago, I started doing hammer curls as my staple when training arms and it made a night and day difference. That plus any kind of wrist curl is more than enough for huge forearms.... Mike does for sure have some big ass forearms I'm kinda jealous!

To do this the weight has to be so light that there’s no possible way to get maximum stimulus. Two fingers ? Nonsense . . Another waste of a video

Sorry Sonny , I’ve been doing this for 50 yrs . 95% of what he talks about is great , I use his technics too but this is just nonsense . I agree , we don’t have to set PRs everytime , no need to lift with poor form etc . 100% agree . But this video is irrelevant. If you watched his vid the other day on how much ACTUAL lifting time one does while working out , then in this one he’s contradicting himself . Perhaps you should stop believing every word someone says . Grow up . Think for yourself a little

He never said to do it with just two fingers..🤦🏼‍♂️ if you actually listened to him he was explaining how majority of the pressure or tension of the grip should be in the top half/two knuckles of the hand and took his fingers off to further illustrate.. obviously with heavier weight for an actual working set you won't be able to do that but news flash he's not actually working out rn 🤯 he's making an instructional video

4:43 also in another video Idk from when he talked about where to keep pressure on which knuckle when using the pec fly, both tips / ques what ever you want to call them work great for keeping the shoulders out of the exercise. Nothing anyone says is gospel, its all just tools for the tool box brother. No need to be a bitch about it.
