Nice kit, the detail on the face/hands and the proportions are much better than on their metal range. I will have to pick myself up a box!

Good video. Thanks. I'm reading books by Gordon Doherty about the legions of the eastern empire and it's long fight against the goths. I totally recommend them. To much money spent on churches and not on the legions. Things don't change except it's not the churches getting the money this time round.

Could you grab a ruler & give some dimensions on the figure bases & the seperate bases in future? The figures dont look like they would fit on the small square bases. The Draco is the Dragon Head & the Vexillium iis the flag standard.

Hi Shaun, great idea! Unfortunately, I gave away the base sprue and don't have any of these chaps lying around to measure. I believe GB packs this same base sprue with all their kits so I will keep that in mind on the next one!

I like their other plasic ones (Arabs/Moors, Vikings etc). Just not my period this. I whould have liked earlier romans...

those rendra bases would make good detailing for infinity building. that box set is great you get a 6 point (2 hearthguard 4 warriors) and a Warlord all out of the same box. have you looked at Fireforge games Byzantine infantry models? I didn't use the silly flat hat head and still had enough heads.

I have used the Rendra bases for objectives or for herds of animals (which in Saga tend to be my herds of animals). I have debated making fatigue markers using the small square ones to hold dice, but now just use the red plastic pin markers from Bolt Action, so do not worry about that now.

That is indeed a great idea for Infinity buildings. My bud did something similar on his latest batch and it turned out great! I have seen the new fireforge Byzantines - they look really good! I placed all the orders for my stuff like a day before they announced them sadly. Looks like their pre-orders will be up in Sept.

Wisco Horndog Tabletop Little red explosions, with a number dial for how many on them. Pretty well need to paint the numbers to see them, but works well after that.

I'm brand new to this and understand that there's a new book coming out next year.. however I have to ask.. is it better for infantry to wield spears or swords for wargaming? Edit: also are cav and cataphracts any good for the Romans? I also want horse archers and a ballista/scorpion

Hi Joker! Ruleswise, there is no difference between spears or swords in the game. You could mix both in the same unit or use the weapon variations to keep your warrior or hearthguards unit separate and distinct on the battlefield. I unit of Hearthguard cavalry are great for Romans of any era, as you tend to have a lot of shooting units otherwise. They give you some mobile punch!

I do not like the square bases nor base on the figures. They do not match Saga starter sets at all.

Yeah, most folks use rounds for Saga although there is no rules against squares. GB packs squares as they are a long time historical miniature manufacturer and most historical wargames have tended towards squares. I'll pick up round bases or wooden discs for bases off eBay.
