4:05 WOW. This video explains my situation perfectly when you say a lot of people are "slightly dislocated here". I have something called Negative Ulnar Variance. I bowled right handed for over half my life ( Im 32) and when I was younger skated (Aggressive inline and dirt BMX a lot) must have done stuff to my hand without me realizing it. Used to fall and use my hands to catch me and things. In 2020 I found all this out, the Mild Negative Ulnar Variance, and I have have a "slight fracture mild deformity of the 5th metacarpal". I dont know when I hurt my hand to do that but must have been early on. And when coupled with bowling league on that same right hand for over 15 years, things got out of balance. I get constant burning and numbness of my forearm and back of hand. Sometime going up into my Brachialis and bicep... I have a radial nerve issue because of the development in my right compared to my left. Not quite Blue Bowen status here but... I got into arm-wrestling to get my left stronger. Been since at summer 2017 I been way of the giant pumpkin on my left. Growth is slow though. I need to find a pulling group still. Please come to Portland area once things subside. Would love to meet you. Only an hour drive from Daniel Urich the Tree Faller in Chehalis. You got this on May 28th! SAME THING ONLY HARDER!

I’ve suffered from this injury repeatedly since I started armwrestling so this is very helpful. It cleared up on my right recently and now I realize this coincided with me training my riser a lot more recently. Will train more on the left (which still hurts) and try the rehab as well. Thank you Devon, you’ve sparked a love for armwrestling within me and I’ve been having a blast!

@llllKyonllll3 жыл бұрын
@@anonymousunknown2919 I'm assuming your toprolling like me: The most important thing for me has been to not try to pronate (through the top of your hand) in a losing position. Once people are cupped in and/or pronated out of your hand a little bit you just end up twisting your wrist while you hand stays where it is, creating a lot of pressure in you wrist. That was the cause for me in the beginning. Once I started just taking the losses and sparring at a lower intensity so that I could focus on the movement, it stopped hurting (but I still couldn't go 100%). Then I also started working my riser a while back and this has really helped me keep my hand, causing me to pull less from a compromised position. This made it easier to lean how to pull properly and strengthen my wrist instead of injuring it. Lastly, I would also recommend low-hand toprolling more since there is less pressure on the wrist and in general just focus on putting pressure trough your thumb instead of your knuckles.. I hope some of this will help you out. It really sucks to be in pain and not being able to do what you want. Stay strong, love armwrestling ^^
@llllKyonllll3 жыл бұрын
@@anonymousunknown2919 p.s. It can also hurt from hooking I've noticed. Which happens mostly when I'm in a double hook and I try to push down with the bottom of my hand and wrist to turn the other person palm up. I just stopped hooking, so I'm not sure what to do there. Stop hooking I guess :P
@llllKyonllll2 жыл бұрын
@parmesan Aloha, I kept doing what I wrote about in the comments, and since then I've been pretty ok. It's still a weak spot in the grand scheme of things, but I can arm wrestle without pain every week (or sometimes 2x a week). My lessons: - If it really hurts, like in normal life and not just on the table: Rest, go to a PT, have them teach you some exercises to strengthen your wrist (in a neutral position which is different from a lot of the things we do). It took 3 months of rest with exercises to clean up my injury - If it's just a little sore after 2-3 days after practice: Try to practice at a lower intensity. This will allow everything to strengthen over time and get used to the pressures. You'll still get better. And with more strength and technique the risk of injury becomes lower. Be careful that it doesn't build into an actual injury. It's a marathon not a race.

How did it go?

@@peetruu22 Hey :) it works, you have to really focus on squeezing the fingers and locking the riser and pronating fully, holding it at the end range of the pronation, you should feel some tension in that ulnar ligament. I combined this along with some bloodflow work including extremely light wrist curls and ulnar deviation with a light resistance band. Nowadays i have no pain. The recovery process from initial tear of the ligament/spinning out of wrist to full recovery and hard sparring/heavy lifting was probably a year give or take 2 months. Keep at it!

Um, I'm no expert, but shouldn't you be doing more of wrist exstension work if you want to regain that exstension range of motion?
@rotten22093 жыл бұрын
@@durgurgurdur5880my bones have been fused, so the back bend motion is less than 30 degrees or 33% of normal motion. No amount of extention exercise can adjust this with the metal "plate/rod" connecting the scaphoid, lunate, triquetrum to the ulna. This is usually done to people with severe arthritis but my initial break was so bad that most the small bones in my wrist were individually fractured along with both forearm bones directly below my wrist. What started as rehab has proved to be an ace in the hole for arm wrestling. My wrist is impossible to crack(for someone my size) and pronation has improved dramatically.

Pro Tip: Get a red felt pen and color in a big red dot on Todd's elbow. When he straightens out his arm in resting position/queensmove he can elbow foul all day because he knows it's harder to see his elbow.
